I bought a Neo2 in January this year. It was one photographic purchase I don't regret. The thing is small, useful and gets a lot of work from me. A little more power from it would be nice, but we can't have everything. Hopefully, that will happen with a future version.

Hey Jason, you mention in the video that all the rotolight lights feature the build-in elinchrom wifi receiver. According to the Rotolight website the Aeos does not have it. Did you need to buy a separate receiver to integrate the Aeos into your setup?

Thank you so much for these videos! This answered so many questions and love seeing these comparisons. And thank you for the tidbit on the illuminator because I wasn’t sure if my Anova Pro 2 would fit until I watched this. Thanks again!

@@JasonLanierPhotography Well, there you have something new to present, I think that with the white balance adjustment of the roto light it could give good results.

You state that the lights become softer unmodified when I think you mean more diffuse. A light cannot be softer without physically getting bigger or moving closer to the subject - still the diffusion without a modifier is impressive - but it is not softer. When using the illuminator it is in fact softer. Nice comparison though and appreciated. I bought 2 Neo II and one Aeos on your recommendation. I do not regret the purchase and hope to start using them more, but as I shoot mostly in the harsh sun, I find my Flashpoint gear more useful. Still, as I will be getting more into event stuff going forward, I think there will be more place for the Roto Light stuff. I appreciate the video demonstrating the distinction between the products - definitely educational - thanks Jason :)

@greysuit17

They still do exactly what they did when you bought them. There’s always going to be newer, better gear, that doesn’t make what you own useless or obsolete. Use your gear.
@JasonLanierPhotography
@JasonLanierPhotography 3 года назад
What gresuit said is so true. They'll do exactly what they were intended to do. Gear will get better every year. I'd still use the original Neo's for accent lighting with my current gear.

I bought two of the original NEO lights. They still work as great color temp adjustable continuous lights. I think that you will find that they still do everything that they did when you bought them. I should also tell you that this year I bought another AEOS two light kit and two ANOVA Pro2 units before the Titan X1 was announced. I can tell you that they are great lights. Are they a Titan X1? No but I spent $2400 for four Rotolight products that I can put to use and afford as opposed to over $3000 for one exceptional Rotolight. When you buy a good product you get something that is going to serve you well for a long time.

Jason, Very good video but you did not provide any standardized idea of how the Titan X1 output power compares to the ANOVA Pro2 like you did for the NEO2 to AEOS and AEOS to ANOVA Pro2. I guess that I would appreciate that you give us a comparison of the ANOVA Pro2 to Titan X1 power and the Titan X1 to Titan X2 power. I am guessing that the X1 to X2 is just twice what the X1 is because it is two panels vs 1. The real question is How does the Titan X1 compare to the ANOVA Pro2 in raw power. I know that the power is not the only difference but it is the elephant in the room question for many of us. Can you help answer this question?
@JasonLanierPhotography
@JasonLanierPhotography 3 года назад
Hi brother, I'm so happy you liked the video. I'd say the Titan X1 is at least twice as bright and has a much more significant spread of light compared to the Anova Pro 2. That's why I showed it in the video. It REALLY covers so much more of the basketball court and throws the light significantly further as well. I can test them again and show you the difference...:)
@robertatwell7615
@robertatwell7615 3 года назад
@@JasonLanierPhotography , Thanks Jason . I fully appreciate that the Titan X1 and X2 are a different class of lighting product relative to their NEO2, AEOS, and ANOVA Pro2 products. The built in electronic diffusion that you demonstrated very well in your video and the filter library which effectively allows you to change the color of the light to just about anything in both continuous and strobe mode is amazing and when you then combine that with the special effects and DMX capabilities they are IMHO a lighting paradigm change. A stop of extra output is significant and when you combine the other features that is very impressive. Have you ever thought about doing a video that shows how the DMX features of the AEOS, ANOVA Pro2, and Titan X1 and X2 can work together. I was thinking that this might be a great way to demonstrate how the different Rotolight products can be integrated and controlled seamlessly in a studio environment. I have heard that TV production uses DMX to control and fine tune complex lighting similar to what can be done with the Skyport trigger but I haven’t seen this explained for how it applies to photography. Might be an interesting future topic. Thanks for your response and I appreciate the knowledge that you share so freely with us. I love the new Titan lights but for now I am going to have to stay with the ANOVA Pro2 units , 2 AEOS 2 light kits, and NEO2 3 light kit that I already own. They are fantastic products. I agree with your assessment that if you have the budget then the Titan X1 is an obvious must have in your lighting kit and that the Titan line is likely to do well in the TV and Film production industry. All the best and thanks again.
