I was searching everywhere for a video like this comparing all of the avail RX100 models on the used market. Looking hard at the Mark 2 now. THANK YOU!
I just got M1, because it is for 340 € and M2 is for 490 € which is quite a big difference. Thank you for the nice summarization, before I found only comparisons between each 2 generations. I would go for M2 if it was at least 50-60 € cheaper. I usually take photos in good light so backlit sensor is not a must for me.
Absolutely brilliant - thanks for making this video. You covered everything! I bought a Mark3 and now have upgraded to a Mark4 for the slow motion facility - even the complex menus you mention are not even quite the same layout! Great camera but so missing the mic input jack!
Such a bummer that Sony doesn't lower the price of the previous versions when a new one comes out. It would have been nice to get the Mark 4 at $650 price point now the Mark 6 is coming out
Me still watching this over and over again. I found a used RX100 Mark II with very good condition at an incredible price. My use case would be on still only so I think I'll be happy getting the Mark II.
Mike D Here in germany the m3 costs about 500-550 euros and the m1 about 330-360 so it's about 200 euros more. For me it is the better capability in low light and of course the evf (electronic view finder) are the two main reasons for the m3 :)
Buy RX100VA = M5A. The A-version of the V has many improvements. From Version VI there is with a Zoom to 200 a lower light factor of 2.8 instead of 1.8
Great, comparative review of the various models. I'd seen a mk. 3 in a local camera shop the other day but wanted to see if earlier models would be almost as good as the 3 was slightly out of my budget. Your review however has helped me realise it might be a false economy, as I definitely need the wider lens and improved sensor for low light shooting. I wish all tech reviews were as informative, clear and succinct as this one. Having the tables of the various model's stats was particularly useful. Many thanks for doing it, it's much appreciated! Picked up a like new PAL version RX100 M1 with about 200shutter count for $140 a few months ago. We keep it in the diaper bag for on the go photography. Bought the Big brother RX10M3 for $850 from Amazon Warehouse. It does well for a pocket camera.
Such a fair and informative review. I think I'm getting the M3 - I only care about image quality and because of you you saved me a huge sum of money :). Thank you for doing this!
Excellent video, great information source. I am considering buying a mint Rx100 classic w/ only 695 shots. It is priced at 150USD, is that a good price?
awesome comparisons! i have been teetering between a few cameras the rx100 (III-V) were top of my list but you mention if extended video shooting look elsewhere - preferably Panasonoc - 2 questions: do the Rx100 iii-V over heat often at the 1080 reso? and which compact pansonic would you recommend?
it doesnt...only in 4k...I have the IV...but never shot 4k actually :D, it does fine in slomo...there's the VI now...super expensive but thre's also VA, which is similar in price to the V but borrows some features from the VI !!!
