There's just something special about this color combo for me personally. Back when I was first introduced to Magic I was REALLY interested in building Lathiel deck but never got around to it and eventually fell out of playing. A couple years later; here we are, just getting back into Magic for the 2nd time and I'm in LOVE with this game! I have built a Trostani deck that I have SO MUCH fun with just chilling and gaining a boatload of life behind my army of tokens. The other day I managed to combo up to 1576 life xD
I think Nature’s Chosen can be an include in a ton of different Selesnya decks. It’s an aura with wall of text but only costs one green and gives any Selesnya creature the ability to tap itself to untap any creature, artifact, or land and to freely untap itself so it’s super versatile. You can turn your commander into a mana dork or give any creature vigilance each turn essentially for free. I run it in my Emmara Soul of the Accord deck where it’s basically a one card combo with tapping shenanigans but I can see it being an include in almost any deck especially enchantress decks.
It’s not technically a Selesnya card I guess but half the card doesn’t function if the creature isn’t white and there’s zero reason to ever run it in a mono green deck
i think Krosan Verge, like Myriad Landscape, is very good in decks in which the Commander is 5 or more mana; getting to cast your commander one turn sooner thanks to your land is so satisfying
I have a selesnya tokens deck and it’s very strong with recovering from board wipes and removal it’s like I can always add to the board so you can say it’s a very resilient color combo and yes my own removal is very great too
Aura Shards and Mirari's Wake are awesome in my Zacama dino tribal deck. Krosan Verge and Eladamri's Call are also in there and it feels so good to sac the Verge and grab two awesome lands! Took me a while to figure that deck out but I win most games I play with it now. It's one of my favorite decks, and even went the distance to foil it completely out haha!!
I really like this series! It's been a big help for somebody like me who is relatively new to Magic. Are you going to go through all the 2-Color combos and then move up to three-color? If so, I'm really looking forward to your Dimir and Bant (albeit I'm sure this list is good in Bant with a few blue tweaks) Staples lists!
Rite of Harmony is becoming a staple for me. I haven’t put it in all my green white decks yet. But it’s outperformed my expectations every single time I have
Playing budget commander, Krosan Verge is just amazing and goes in all my decks with those colors. It is basically an extra (and possibly better) myriad landscape, specially if playing more than 2 colors if one is packing the dual-type tapped lands.
I run Hamza, I've left krosan verge since I usually have burgeoning, exploration, or with cultivator Colossus, and usually I'm fine with just bouncing lands I can play the same turn due to exploration on m?
@@Blacklodge_Willy haha for budget, I’ve been doing this for 7 years and it’s my main hobby, so it’s over time. As for keeping track, I have everything on shelves with themed boxes to keep a system of organization. My sister helps me paint some of them!
@@c.jpaskert4698 Awesome! I'm in a similar camp as this and collecting movies are really the only hobbies I partake in. I have 19 EDH decks in total, but I've been building and tearing apart decks since 2017.
I still run krosan verge in any decks that can use it. I like having my ramp built into my lands so I can focus on more card draw and gas in the nonland slots
I think that in a pure Selesnya deck Krosan Verge is all but identical to Myriad Landscape, which I consider to be just a little bit too slow. In 3 or more colors though the extra color fixing might start to matter. Also, I actually do have a Selesnya deck that isn't very creature heavy, my Sigarda Host of Herons voltron deck only runs 13 creatures other than Sigarda herself which I don't think is likely to be enough to justify Aura Shards. I could also maybe see a Sythis Harvest's Hand deck that's leaning more into the enchantress theme that could potentially not have enough creatures to make Aura Shards worth running.
I think Krosan Verge is great. I do think it's maybe even better decks with more colours because of Triomes. Still I love it in my Selesnya deck and Myriad Landscape. They're slow but also they're a land...
Here’s a selesnya card you missed, one of the best of all time, Riftstone portal. Takes up a land slot and fixes your mana as long as you can crop rotation it into gaea’s cradle or discard it. “Exile graveyards exists” yeah it does, waste your mana to exile my land from graveyard. It shines in 3 colors+ but it still is really one of the best lands
Krosan Verge has been getting cut because of all the new dual cycles. Just in the last few years: Branchloft Pathway, Brushland, Canopy Vista, Overgrown Farmland, Bountiful Promenade...
I think my big issue with my Selesnya deck right now is a lack of finishers. I have some big creatures, and stuff like End-Raze Forerunners, but I have difficulties closing out games.
Maybe it’s just the opponents I’ve had at my LGS recently, but Korean Verge feels way too slow. Entering tapped sucks, and then it takes another two turns to feel like you ramped because you’re essentially down one mana on the turn you can actually use it.
You make selesnya sound so good but ive never had much luck because it seems like most selesnya commanders have a restrictive theme. Create a bunch of tokens, +1+1 counters and such and rely on some cards that have to be protected or it just spins its wheels. I was gonna make a new selesnya deck revolving around getting the new ajani sleeper agent ultimate and killing with weenies.
yeah to be honest the commanders aren't great. i agree. dig towards the bottom though and you'll find some interesting ones that will have great support.
I Don't like the idea of flooding the board with creatures and Just attacking, too boring for me. I think selesnya works very well with sacrifice with the amount of fodder you get on those decks. Drizzt is, for me, a sacrifice Commander in selesnya colors. But different strokes for different folks. Selesnya commanders are at a Very cool stage as of today (Different tribes and wacky ways to go tall/wide).
Every deck is strong with green, white is probably the best support color for removal and blue is probably the best for card draw so yeah I love bant too
Also what bant commander/strategy do you use? I currently have Shanna purifying blade with a lifegain card draw theme usually trying to win with a omniscience/ aetherflux reservoir
Another Selesnya staple that can also be your own commander is Karametra, God of Harvests. You won't have a better way to ramp for lands in a creature heavy deck.
Hey Demo. Felt like you much understated for Krosan Verge. Even when it’s ramping capability is meh within these colors, with the completion of the Triome cycle, we can pretty much sacrifice to change for another 2 lands to fix across 5 colors. Tempo aside, the ramp + fix is undeniable & gets more valuable with the number of colors in the deck
