I'm in love with the hy-road on the house shot. Miss left and the ball seems to carry to the pocket and miss right and ball comes back with tons of power. I also love how the ball continues to drive after getting into the roll instead of flattening out.
It's gotta be the iQ for me. First real ball was a Fusion, and I've had a solid and currently still roll an Emerald and Nano Pearl when needed. It's such a GOAT to me that, when I was given a basicaly brand-new Burner Solid, I asked the PSO to plug and re-drill it so that it rolled similar to the iQTS for me...got to save money where we can, you know (especially when we're not cashing in tournaments! lol).
I have a Phase 2 and like it a lot. I just won a Storm ball of my choice on BowlTV, and after much research (including your channel), it came down to the HyRoad and the IQTour. I chose the HyRoad. Looking forward to getting it and seeing if it lives up to its reputation.
Phaze 2 is the GOAT for me, I love to continuation of the ball. Thank you for your videos! Can you also make a video of your 6 bag arsenal, or a 6 Storm/Roto/900Global balls you must have in your bag today (similar to your Motiv one)? I love seeing the different arsenals of pros
I have yet to throw the Phaze II but will be doing it this weekend. I would say they Hy-Road is a great ball and possibly the GOAT. Right now the best ball I throw is the Hustle PBR. The Hustle line is rated at HP1 but seems like a lot better ball than that. It's a middle of the road ball for an entry level price. I'd also say that the Zen could end up being GOAT status.
Can't go wrong with any of them in the proper situation. My Vote would be for the Hy-Road since it has literally outsold every single other bowling ball ever produced, bar maybe the Widows as a series. So therefore has made Storm the most money 💸
Phaze 2 all the way. I’ve played the HyRoad and Pitch Black on the same lane/same game and I think the lanes were too slick for the urethane at the time. Phaze 2 is the Corolla of bowling balls, it just works and causes no trouble for me.
I really enjoy watching your channel. You're personality is awesome and you have a great way of explaining each bowling ball you throw. I'm getting back into bowling after being away from the game for approx 38yrs now. I'm 55yrs old and getting ready to retire soon. I've been playing for about a month now and want to join the league at my local bowling alley. I'm looking at building a three ball arsenal and the three balls I picked out are 14lb balls... The Phaze II, The Hy-Road Hybrid, and the IQ Tour Ruby Pearl... I spoke with someone at Storm; they said these three balls would be great to start out with. I basically want to have a ball with each coverstock in my bag besides Urethane, at least not now untilI have a good amount of games under my belt again. I would like your thoughts on these bowling balls. Currently I have a 14lb Roto Grip Halo I bought back in 2019 but my hip arthritis would not allow me to play until now, 5 months after hip replacement surgery. I like my Roto Grip Halo, but I want to get away from an Asym ball, at least for now. Thank you for providing such great content keep up the great work.
I only own the Hyroad and Pitch Black so I can't say. I find it odd that no pearl ball made the list! So, are lanes 1-2 getting inspected for excessive friction? Doubtful!! lol
Late to the video but, I’m 54 years old, had to quit bowling in 1997. I was a kid 220’s bowler , bowling in 5-7 leagues per week plus weekend tournaments. I was in JR leagues when urethane first came out, Black Hammer, AMF Angle family etc. then reactive showed up with the Nu Line Excalibur, Ryno Pro, Turbo X. I was a high rev player, one handed, ( there were on my 3 that I can remember bowling 2 handed in the Louisville Ky area back then ) My favorite Storm ball ever was a high polished Thunderstorm, pin down, 2 3/4 from the cg . It was the most consistent versatile ball I had in my arsenal. My 2nd favorite ball overall was the Orange Pirahna I drilled the first one , super high polish, pin down and I loved it so much I drilled the exact same ball with just a little surface so I could basically try to emulate some of the advantages or urethane . ( yes you young guys. Most of us higher average guys always had a urethane in our arsenal way back then! Lol I also had 2 other Pirahnas that I drilled pin up and basically repeated what I did with the first 2 only for a heavier oil pattern. For those of you that remember, Columbia had a reactive called the Quake and the gold pearl quake that I really did well with two.
Love the Phaze 2 and getting another one to replace my Axiom solid, which is burned out. Question I have is I am interested in the Hyroad Pearl / Storm Gem. After watching Luis review (Gem vs Proton Physix) I have the Proton so not really "smart" to get the Gem--at this time, so switching interest on the Hyroad. I have the Zen, so is it wise to get the Hyroad?
Actually I do have two Hy Roads and a Crossroads but to use them in sanctioned leagues with the updated USBC rules I would need to get the balance holes filled
On my second phase II. It’s the only ball so far that I’ve got again. And I will probably get a third once this second one dies. I might give the iq solid a go too maybe. I had the pearl version of it. It was ok for awhile. But honestly I think it sucked because it was a ringing ten waiting to happen most of the time. Just like the hy road x I got. I got back into bowling right around 2018 and the hy rod x is what I got. And the phase II and iq pearl followed that. The phase II didn’t give up on me. I got a proton after the first phase II, and it was good. It got me my highest series ever. But seeing the proton is a big ball it died super quick. I needed something to save me mid season. And what did a buy? Another phase II. Absolutely started demolishing with it. And it has yet to fail me (once it dies of course) The iq solid could be a totally different story though. Definitely a third phase II, might just ball out and get the iq tour solid as well
I’ve only thrown the pitch black n hyroad from that group I don’t throw my hyroad much not sure what oil pattern it would shine on I used pitch black mostly for spares sometimes as a strike ball my goat ball would have to be crux prime I love that ball wish they still made it
Storm's Reign Supreme, a large sym core with a hy-brid cover was the best ball they ever made! Tried many of the newer balls but NONE matches the Reign Supreme. Still use mine.
@@LuisNapoles I keep going back to it as it still out performs the new stuff! All 5 of my 300s are with this ball. My "other ball in my bag" right now is a HY-road pearl but I had it resanded from 1500 grit to 1000 grit and repolished so it is not so angular but it still goes a little long and leaves 10 pins at times.
9:10 ... Double 10 pins standing. Was that a trick shot? 🤔 btw both wrap 10's were "good shots". 👍 I will be looking for the IQ solid. Great 📹 and excellent sound quality 👌
I have the Hyroad and Phase2. Love the Hyroad, but I may be one of the few that doesn’t really like the Phase 2, it just doesn’t match up with me. I may add the IQ solid or the Zen to replace my Phase 2 as my benchmark ball.
I have a phase 2 that I never drilled. It is a 14 I picked it up for cheap for my son in law as I throw 15 lb balls. He has not ever got it and I was thinking about drilling it. I do not have the others But if I had to guess the hyroad will take the #1
hi luis, i think the phaze2 by far is the goat ball and ithink the iq solid is second. i am also thinking on getting another phaze2 and drill it different tom
I said the Phaze 2 over the IQ Tour, but it is very close. I don't get along with low diff 'thane in general, and me and the Hy-Road core just didn't get along.
Apples and Oranges! I'm a stroker at 11mph. My balls are drilled pin close to ring finger. I love my IQ Tour solid cover stock as it's path is very arched and predictable. The Hyroad hybrid is a little less aggressive but better in dryer lanes.
hi luis, my favorite is a storm phaze 2 and a very close 2nd is the iq tour. i want to get a couple more phaze2,s my phaze 2 is drilled just like your phaze 2 30x4x30. youe said you have 4 of them what are your layouts. i am thinkking 45 x41/2x45 what is the difference between my 1st one and mymother one 60x41/2x30 what do you think. tom
@@LuisNapoles in your opinion how should I drill it, I mean pin up or pin down? I currently have Night Road, Idol Helios, RST X2, UFO and a ball called Tundra from Track
Hy Road beats everything though I have all 4 of those balls Hy Road IQ Tour and Pitch Black are probably here to stay not sure about the Phaze 2 staying less likely maybe on that one the other 3 yes here to stay
Finally got a Phaze ll last year and was mad I waited so long. A few 300s with it and can’t leave home without it. Just drilled a IQ Tour Solid I can’t wait to throw in league. I want a Hyroad next. Had one that was plugged and redrilled a couple times and had a balance hole in it so couldn’t use it for long. Just want a fresh one. These balls are proven so I feel I can’t go wrong with them. 🤷♂️
Well I've never thrown any of them but if it's a vote I have to say HY-ROAD just on longevity alone. Otherwise Storm wouldn't still be making it. All of your choices seem like you couldn't go wrong with any of them. Well after much thought...........Ditch the Pitch Black
Have the Hy-Road & IQ Tour. Recently hand sanded my Hy-Road close to 4K Fast. It worked fine, but not a house shot killer until I took out a 3K pad to it briefly on another outing. This summer bowling on pretty dry conditions, but the Hy-Road couldn't miss. Miss room on the right and left. I guess I found my magic place that day... :) It was the GOAT...
Luis i’m looking to buy my first bowling ball and have it drilled for my hand, I’m a 2 hander throwing at about 16-17 mph. Do you have any recommendations?
I haven’t been able to figure out the IQ your at all. That ball got drilled and I struggled with it for months before plopping it in the bag to park. I want to give it another shot but it’s a struggle.
I joined a summer have a ball league. I can pick any storm rotogrip or G900 ball. What would you get. I kinda need a lower diff ball as I have several strong ones but that Gem looks very nice.. It is only 10 weeks I am waiting tell the end to pick incase something better comes out. 8 weeks left.
Dang that's a decent 4 ball set right there ..I got 3 of them and I would say close call between IQ and Hyroad ...if I had to choose I would go IQ but the Hyroad when in play is epic
My mate owns an alpha crux and he said it’s one of the best balls ever made of not the best but otherwise I’d say for me personally storm ball wise my Hyroad
Hi Luis, I just got into bowling and have 2 of these 2 weeks ago, pitch black and phaze 2 along with purple hammer . I tend to like not staying left and like to stay on the 25-30 board at the start of my approach and aim at 15-20 arrow. Looking at the hyroad vs iq tour. Which of these balls would go thru lots of cross fictions after having so many games on the lanes?
Hi I have, Wolverine and infinite physix thinking about getting either phaze 2 or iq tour, I am a left handed bowler and usually throw over the 1st or second arrow what one would you suggest
Lou, I just posted a comparison on my channel between the IQ Tour Solid and Pitch Black on a Fresh House shot. As you know I am an old school Full Roller with very low revs and low ball speed. I play down and in from the right the old school way. You might find it interesting to watch how these balls behave for me. Video # 157.
Hey Luis I am rebuilding my arsenal after a 8 year break. I was wondering how these 4 balls do together as an part of an arsenal? I already have the pitch black, hy road pearl, and am drilling up the iq tour now. Was wondering if the phaze 2 and the hy road are similar or which one would fit better thanks
@@LuisNapoles awesome thanks for the reply and to drill and new astro to do the comparison. I still have the Astro and I have the Proton just wanted to see if there would be a difference. Can't wait. Thanks again.
my money on the phaze 2 or the iq im not a big solid ball fan as they just start to early for my game but phaze 2 is my first out of the bag now that i think about it the phaze 2 is the only solid i have rest are different strength pearls and hybrids lol
Whoever told you lied to you lol the ink is a weaker version of the !Q Tour. The hustle core is a higher RG and a slightly higher diff but the covers are different. The cover on the tour solid is stronger than the ink
I am not on staff with anyone so I just bought a Venom Shock, I know it’s not Storm but as someone who throws predominantly Storm, the two non brand balls I have in goat status are the Venom Shock and Purple Hammer
Why would it be? It’s been discontinued for YEARS. The newest ball on this chart is 6 years old and all are still available. A ball can’t be a goat if it’s 100% irrelevant on todays conditions and no one can get one
@@LuisNapoles It just subverted my expectations. My sense at the time was that the X-Factor line of balls (and Pete Weber's dominance with them) really propelled Storm ahead of the competition, and it felt odd to me to only include available balls in an all-time conversation. Regardless, I appreciate the content. Keep up the good work!
seems you like the iq so much you just throw it faster and better overall. I'd say the p2 is still the better ball if you would just throw it with authority like you do with the iq
