Hi all! As of Feb 15th 2022, all *Origin Stories & Combat Styles* are being seperated. What this means is, you can choose a story to play in character creation now, and then seperately choose which *combat style* you want to play. These are divided into force and tech categories. Much later in the game, when you complete your origin story arc (chapter 3) the game will allow you to choose a second combat style. This system is basically dualspec. You could add sorcerer style to your juggernaut later, so you can swap between the styles on one character. This feature is backed up by loadouts which can be saved. Any questions just ask! Or you can find more info here: www.swtor.com/legacyofthesith
I play Powertech simply for the Mandalorian Crusader feel to it, in that melee combat is the most honourable, up close and personal face to face with the opponent you are going to kill, while for Trooper I picked Commando, as I really love lugging around the cannon, also there combat animation is pretty weak when compared to the BH PT,
I was a bit of the opposite. I chose mercenary for my hunter because I enjoyed the idea of the pistols and lots of rockets, while I chose vanguard because I liked using a rifle, and being able to run up and punch a Sith Lord in the face.
@@ethanschenck9714 I can respect that the Mercenary has that cool death from above mechanic to it which I like while the Vanguard has some pretty cool combat animations in melee,...but that is about it,
I only use my pistol when my vent heat is too high, and I have no way to vent the heat. I’ve also used it in one of the flashpoints in SOR Bc the boss would not let you get any closer than 30 m. Only usable abilities were thermal detonator and pistol.
Just wish Vanguard/Powertech had better Survivability, running through PvP on my Pyrotech I get instantly targeted and burned, over and over and have no way to escape it, Adrenaline Rush only helps so much, when 3 Maras focus you
@@Mr_Spaghetti They removed most ability animations that required characters to stand still. So now each character is more mobile but the animation changes were super lackluster
Dark Side: Powertech. Light Side: Vanguard. Republic: Dark Side is the goal-oriented soldier and Light Side is the process-focused warrior. Empire: Dark Side is the warrior oriented toward power and Light Side is the soldier humbly serving the Empire. Mechanically, the warrior hits hardest while the soldier defends the hardest. While this works perfectly for the Force-using classes, the Tech classes' AC's share the same characteristics for DPS and protection (especially since the Commando and Mercenary got that healing energy shield). Therefore, it's best we look at what each class does to it's alignment in the story. The playstyle involves a mixture of melée and trick-shooting, which translates differently to their stories. On the Powertech, it brings to mind how the Dark-Sider likes to personally kill his/her targets; the Vanguard's melée approach, on the other hand, helps to contrast Garza, who stays away from the action and orders Dark Side actions to the Trooper.
Thanks. I started a Vanguard a few days ago and I'm at level 30. It might just be me, but I notice fewer Vanguards than Commandos and even fewer Shield Specialists. I also really enjoy the story. Good synopsis!
I'm making one of each so I can see all the different stories: Powertech BH (My 1st @ Launch) :) Guardian Jedi Knight (Edit: finished!) Operative Imperial Agent (Edit: Playing now) Assassin Sith Inquisitor Commando Trooper Marauder Sith Warrior Gunslinger Smuggler Sage Jedi Consular What are you guys playing?
I haven't played SWTOR in a long time, but I am interested in going back and have the same idea as you to make each different class. My plan is to go: Jedi Sentinel Sith Juggernaut Jedi Sage Sith Assassin Tropper Vangaurd Bounter Hunter Mercenary Smuggler Gunslinger Imperial Agent Operative
@@meganerd14 my only complaint about power tech is you basically dont use your blaster at all at higher levels. Instead its alot of flamethrower and rockets which is still awesome. It's just a cosmetic thing for me. You get an upgraded baster you should be using it. Getting the dual blasters on my Smuggler! 🤠
@@chrisg8989 and what about dmg while leveling and endgame? operative/scoundrel seems have op damage, I can 1-2 shot any mob, as for pt seems have lower dmg? Marauder quiet strange for me, too many buttons for such dmg/def, wanna play mando, but will it get better? Or scoundrel better in terms of killing mobs/group content?
I made a republic commando since mandos are all pistols in SWTOR, is it possible to become an actual imperial as alliance commander by picking imperials as allies ive never played that far yet just want to (RP Mando super commando)? found imp agent rilfe and bh merc ok for RP mando but not really feeling they are very commando-ish.
@@tacticalbutter4574 I know the feels, not even the first time it happened to me! I'm sure we have 10's of videos featuring random inc message pings hehe.
''with abilities such as retractable blyat...'' : well spoken comrade, we shall not fail and fight against the scum of the galaxy, wich is every cities cantina band whos refusing to play the same soviet anthem again
I’ve always liked the idea of having versions of the tech classes on both sides. Like you said, Sith trooper, but also some thing like a Republic bounty Hunter. Maybe your privateer hired by the republic to kill imperial political figures or something. Or what about an SIS agent? That could be really fun.
In my first account i finished with Power/Van and now i finished on my second account with Merc and am running with Commando. Powertech in my opinion is very boring and i had a lot of fun with Merc/Commando. I think it's mostly due to how i love AoE skills
If I wanted to make a powertech, is there a build that allows me to use a flame thrower while also having the hidden blade? I’m still a little confused.
He's doing his guides based on mirrored classes. If you watched the video. Because BH and Trooper are technically the same thing just opposing factions. Specifically Powertech is the same as Vanguard is on Trooper with main differences being the name of the abilities and their animations. And Mercenary similar to Commando.
