I'm the owner of a special edition, Gulf Monaco calibre 11. I do wear it, not every day but on days or evenings out, and get people asking me about it and the odd admiring glance. Wanted one since I was a kid and finally got one a couple of years ago as a gift to myself.
I own the Gulf model, but with the Heuer 02 movement; I noticed the one you are showing in the video now has the TH20 movement. Apparently they've started to phase the 02 out for the TH20, although the official website still lists the movement as a 02.
I'll go with the vibrant blue, but with the black racing strap... Then again the skeletonized one is badass! The more flat blue maybe looks the most "vintage", very cool as well. Gulf one only if I'm getting sponsorship from Gulf :) Honestly I love all of them but for now will have to stick with my Seiko SNKP23, of which my race mechanic asked "is that a Tag Heuer?" 😁
I love the Monaco; great to see so many together. I have 2; a limited edition (#21/100) they made for the Singapore Formula 1 race in 2010 (black face, white dials, with green hands and black alligator strap with green stitching). My other is an older blue dial with plexiglass; it’s much smaller and thinner than the more recent ones. The Monaco is such an iconic watch!
I like the lighter blue of the left-hand crown model, but would be happy with any of the blue ones over the skeleton model. I do prefer the blue strap, however, and love the striking lume pattern of the skeleton. A novel look, though they do appear oversized on your wrist (which is larger than mine)!
Thank you for the video. For me it is the blue-metallic Version with the caliber 02 with the TAG Heuer bracelet. I want a chrongraph which can track up to 12 hours not only 30 minutes. Gulf has not my favourite colour scheme.
Hi Brad, I realise that I'm probably alone with this, but I do find square watches jarring to the senses. I'd go for a Carrera over these any time. To answer your question though, I'd choose the Gulf edition. Cheers, Bob 🍻
