I just love how gentle you are with your hair. 😍💕💕 I am pretty relaxed about sticking with particular products but the one rule I've kept is to strictly finger detangle my hair. I got the brush with the teeth that seperate when you're brushing your hair and I was so excited but it wasn't anywhere near as gentle as I would need it to be. The thick and curly really peaked my interest though. ✨✨

I 100% agree with you on your review of the brushes! I was also originally shocked that the stiffest brush would be marketed to the most fragile hair, but the Fine & Fragile is way too soft for me. I’ve tried the Mason Pearson Nylon Hairbrush, Framar Detangle Brush, Tek Oval Mahogany Brush with Long Pins, Afro Steam Caps Coily Hair Detangling Brush, and every variation of The Ultimate Detangler from Tangle Teezer, but The Ultimate Detangler as well as The Original Thick & Curly remain undefeated by a mile. I’ve tried to make the Naturally Curly brush work for me by mentally reassuring myself of the (very few) positives of the brush despite it literally catching on my ends and my edges (🥲), but I had to eventually be honest with myself and use the brush that would be the best for my hair in the long run, rather than trying to use a brush simply for the sake of it being marketed toward my hair type and seeing other naturals using it and being fine with it although we are different people. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🙃

EXACTLY what I’ve been searching for! LOVED the purple passion tangle teezer, recently lost it so I decided to search other options before repurchasing. I agree if you have nothing to compare it to you’ll LOVE the purple passion brush, you’re demo was so helpful! It even made me question my TT Journey, it made detangling a breeze BUT I do believe my hair has thinned out as a result! Definitely going to purchase a more flexible option along with their dual sided wide tooth comb. Thank you ❤

I have the thin and fragile version and I love it. I originally wanted the naturally curly one since I saw some youtubers use it, but I think it was sold out on amazon at the time so I ended up getting mine from Boots since it looked the same to me just different colours. Glad to see that there are some differences based on your comparison :)

I have the thick and curly brush. I’ve had it for years. It does a good job detailing and clumping curls, but I think it would be more user friendly if it had a handle with grips so it doesn’t slip out of the hand when product is on the hand.

You have one of the most beautiful heads of hair on RU-vid. 🥰Your curls are popping. My eyes tell me that your hair looks more like 4A than 4B, with a bit of 3C. Maybe because it is long and the curls are more defined. I used to think I had 4C hair but after seeing real 4C's I realized that I'm probably 4B. My curls are much smaller than yours.
@ifshesopleases
@ifshesopleases Год назад
Aww thank you so much for your kind comment!! I can see why my hair might seem like its a looser texture~ As it has gotten longer, it has gotten heavier and 'looser' (maybe because its heavier? 🤔☺️) but is definitely mostly 4b with some 4a.

I never knew why tangle tease brush was popular thanks for reviewing them! I haven't used a tangle tease brush before because it looks like a regular brush to me. I have my old Goody brand brush that I got back in 2011 that I sometimes use. 😊❤

I've tried them all and the naturally curly is the one I like best. However I use the Felicia Leatherwood more often, but I finger detangle first no matter which brush I use. My hair is medium density 4a/3c.

Yea I tried all those brushes and they rip out my hair out no matter how I gentle I use. Wide tooth comb is king for me. I thought my hair was shedding a lot ( breakage) until I went back to the wide tooth comb.

I am a fan of the wide tooth comb myself. I’m doing my research on these different detangling brushes just in case though, but I have a feeling I’ll go back to what works for me.

I have seen more than a few RU-vidrs who, once they reached their hair goals, slacked off on or completely changed their routines. Some stopped or reduced finger detangling and began using detangling tools or used them more often. Some started using bleach or color. Some began using heat more often. Some stopped using oils or reduced the frequency and amount of oil use. Others began experimenting with a wider variety of hairstyles. The motives were usually either spending less time on haircare, primarily with detangling wash days, or wanting to “have fun with” and “enjoy” their hair. Either way, their hair always suffered for it.

Thank you for the review. I have fine and fragile hair and didn't know what brush to choose. Based on your review I have the idea Fine and Fragile would work for my hair (I don't have so much hair), but the original as well (which would be good for style combing as well). I was afraid that one would be too hard. I never had a Tangle Teezer. Now I have the idea: The original one is also great for fragile hair, it is just the gentle technique that is very important. Is your hair fine?

It's interesting, I've bought at least 2 of these brushes and the packaging never mentioned hair type. They're the originals as well. But if they did, I probably wouldn't have bought them, because hair care based on hair type did nothing for me

Completely agree! I was so triggered all the way through this video 😱 Brushes and combs just feel like torture tools to me. Downward motion raking as a grooming practice aligns logically with non-textured hair, since its a motion that generally follows a straighter hair pattern. I feel like this has just become a normalised hair grooming practice as a result of dominant eurocentric beauty standards. Of all the hair types brushing is the most damaging for natural afro hair, which completely makes sense since it is literally ripping through the natural formation of tightly coiled hair, and therefore subjecting it to a grooming practice that it was not really designed to withstand. Finger detangling does take time, but I wear my hair mostly in braids, so I only have to do it every 3-4 weeks at a time and for me it is the most comfortable and healthy way for me to manage my hair. I cannot remember the last time I used any tools in my hair and to me it is totally normal.

@@blacksunlight2618I feel this but I’m just starting to experiment with brushes. I have seen this one around for a while, and I never ever thought it could work for my hair texture due to the teeth being small and tight together. But I recently tried it, and I was absolutely amazed how it glided through my hair like butter, and it was so much better at detangling than finger detangling. The teeth on this brush are so flexible and it doesn’t have the little balls at the end that snag on my hair. No matter what I do using my fingers alone I can’t get all the tangles out, it takes literally forever and it compromises my styles. I also feel like I get more knots over time. I’m gonna be trying these brushes regularly to see how they work for me so far I’m impressed but only time will tell. And yes I have 4c hair my curl pattern is tight coils much tighter than texture shown in this video

You’ve reached your hair goals and aren’t necessarily trying to retain more length. I get that. You’ve achieved your goals due in large part to finger detangling. I get that too. What I don’t understand is why you would begin using detangling tools to minimize further length retention or because you’re less concerned about length retention. Granted, detangling tools will probably slow down your length retention, but only because they’ll increase mechanical damage, not to mention, shedding. So, if you don’t want longer hair, why not just increase the amount of hair you trim or trim more often? That way, for the sake of your hair’s health, you can be just as gentle on your hair as you were when you had length retention in mind, and still keep your hair in optimal condition? It’s giving you’re tired of finger detangling because it’s tedious and time consuming. It’s okay to just say that. But being less gentle on your hair because you don’t care if it gets any longer makes no sense. There are other, healthier ways to limit or maintain your hair at a given length. 🤷🏾‍♀️
