I vote for option 4: direction 1 and 3. But you can change lanes to 2 after making your turn. But if you drive a tractor trailer, you have no choice but to swing wide as long as you can do so safely.
Surprised there isn't an option for all of 1, 2, and 3, because I can tell you people in my area do drive that way. Given that there's a stop line there should also be a stop sign, I think, but otherwise with no other traffic control for the one way street then the red car can go straight if clear, or make a right turn into the right lane (option 4) and then lane shift into the left lane if that's where he wants to be.
Some jurisdictions allow travel in 1, 2, and 3. The Texas Transportation Code permits drivers to enter any available lane in the direction of a turn unless their are markings saying otherwise, provided, of course, it is safe to do so, as in there is no oncoming traffic.
Number 4… already got a ticket for it. I swung right onto the second lane at 2 in the morning when there was nobody else driving around and a cop coming down had nothing else to do. In the daytime though when there’s traffic, I always stayed far right till it was clear to switch lanes. Lesson; Don’t be a smart ass! Lol
So if, in every other state a confused driver is called a California driver.. and when we do a rolling stop, its a California stop. and when i get cut off and i give the one finger salute to say Hi! Hasta! And signaling to them that theyre in 1st place now.. Good Luuck !.. ..some folks call that friendly finger a California Howdy. So i picture driving there being total chaos.. but real friendly at the same time.. and the traffic jams as looking like keystone cops but more like the 80s beach comber Ken and Barbie drivin blacked out on tequila in really quiet Tesla bumper car with only the sound of crashin into eachother and shattered Californians dreams in the background. then flippin each other the bird to say Newsomes number one! ..Hey!.. look up ! Huh? Orange is the new huh??..isnt grayorangish sky pretty ? .oooh Nuh uhh! Seriously! thats Climate change ! The deport Able's stole the Ozone levels..and we need to restore them..but the evil conservatives hid them under some guys workboots in Redding.. i heard that!.. so...gimme a G! Gimme a O!.. Go back up! O-zone!.. We all support you.. changing or not...errr or whatever im supposed to signal to everybody... but thats totally going on,..so Ariba! Derchee.. Jasta Minihana little buddy! .Beep beep! Comin thru..! ..RIght backatcha, sport!.. Oh Pardon me!!
@@exposingtheamericanstasitr3579 I don't make he laws. Hell I don't even vote for the ones that make the laws. Do you always trigger that easy? If so, I hope to hell you're not driving professionally.
@@bobdrifter2402 not triggered Bob, not at all. Im just amusing myself and pokin fun instead of being triggered. Theres enough angry dough heads out there already.
This is one of the most common errors on the roads these days. It also slows other traffic down that can use the lane 2 in this scenario. Gotta read the manual folks.
In my state, if that road is just a street, you can turn in lane 1 and 2. Besides going straight on 3. If it is a major thoroughfare, then only lane 1. But who ever does that ?
With a semi truck with 53 ft trailer, I would have to make the right turn in the middle of the intersection and proceed to the left lane and then right. That way the trailer is clear from hitting the one way sign and the curb
I live in California. I was surprised to learn that here a driver doesn't have to turn only in closest lane. I don't know if that's only at a stoplight or stop sign, or also where there isn't. ~ ~ I have also found other intersection rules that vary between states. ex. in some states you can turn left on a red light from a two way street onto a one-way street. In other states only from one-way street to a one-way street.
I just looked at the California handbook and it says that you need to turn from the right hand lane into the right hand lane when turning right from a two-way street onto a two-way street. It also says that when turning right from a one-way street onto a one-way street you can turn into any lane. It doesn't specify the example in this video which is from a two-way street onto a one-way street. Left turns you can choose any lane you want.
legally the correct answer is 4, 1 and 3. ive always thought that logically the answer should be 1, 3, and 3 because this is the only time you will not have a blind spot when turning into 2, its the time to to do it. legally you should turn unto one and then charge lanes to two, but you have a blind spot, doing 2 will always be when you have the best view.
In other states, turning left and right is permitted in these situations at the same time with more than two lanes. Only traffic traveling straight ahead must be given priority.
@user-kf8qw3bm1g i dont know about UK, but in Germany you have a free choice of lane when turning, unless you have multiple turn lanes. So when you turn left, you always have to yield to opposide traffic.
In US 1, 2 and 3 too, depending on the state. This guy doesn't seem to understand that there are 50 states, which is like 50 countries, and they all have their own laws. They are mostly the same, but on some things like this, and left turn on green, and merging, they can be different.
Only in directions 1 and 3. While making a right turn on to a road with multiple lanes, merge into the rightmost lane and then switch lanes depending on where the driver is headed. A driver coming from the opposite direction can however pick either lane while making a left turn.
Why aren't you allowed to turn into number 2? If there is a left turn just a little further up the street that you are going to be taking surely it would be safer to do just one manoeuvre than have to do a rushed lane change after you are on the one way street. To go to number 3 you have to cross both lanes of traffic so I don't see how going to number 2 would be dangerous.
It's just more dangerous to swing wide and pull out into a lane that isn't closest to you. I've seen accidents happen like that or almost happen. Just like how you shouldn't change lanes during an intersection.
Traffic laws were not created with personal convenience in mind, they were created for safety. Each time a vehicle crosses a lane of traffic the odds of an accident increase almost exponentially. Also with this type of intersection there is additional risk because the oncoming traffic in lanes 1&2 have no stop sign so they are approaching the intersection at speed. In situations where traffic is heavy and you need to make a right turn followed by a quick left turn, the safest option is to instead go straight to the next block then proceed to make three right hand turns, kind of making a spiral or button hook pattern to your destination. I know its annoying to go out of your way but its a lot easier than getting sideswiped or T-boned.
Lane two must be kept available for the left-turners coming from the opposite direction. That way traffic does not intersect and therefore no one is required to yield, or stop.
