Even if I’m wrong or like only partially right I just haven’t caught up with lanterns in a while but have kept hearing green lantern is supposed to be a live action series soon and I hope it at least doesn’t suck lol
The plot will explain Batman can't be corrupted because the one that has repressed emotions is Bruce Wayne, and Bruce is just a mask for unrepressed Batman.
disappointment? Why? Ultra violet is a pretty cool color imo. I love spacey-nautical deep purples blues and indigos im big on colors and music so really any ring would be badass but if I had to pick a least favorite color I'd pick red or yellow, imagine being surrounded by a constant yellow or red light, blegh itd get sickening at a certain point.
@Dead_End_Angel Ultraviolet light is actually unable too be seen by the human eye, only some creatures like Bees can see it, I'm assuming the lightish purple blue of the lantern Corp is just too have a color too associate with visually

@@jonathantheslow self control is a rare thing cause are emotions are very reactive. cause that's a part of our survival mechanism. react now ask questions later. It's needed to survive so don't feel too bad but u have to work on it as u go thru life.
@@donnellebarfield3964that makes no sense. Most of the “repressed emotions” are survival instincts or just basic behavior shown in literally every other species on earth. We just repress them cause we are above animals. Any species that evolved into existence with actual competition should have these instincts as well and should need to suppress them in order to be a civilization.
I should point out Sinestro lured them there, it doesn't mean another Alien species might not be more fitting. It's the planet who's caused most of his defeats after all.
the only thing he represses is his want to kill, outside of that he's out there beating people up and doing all the other things being super rich lets you do.
This makes me question if the UV are a direct rival of the green. It would make sense considering repressed vs the outwardness of your will which is shown through the constructs themselves.

People that are robots in their daily life but still meekly believe in more, like a crushed daydreamer that now only dreams at night, either at the window for a few before bed or litterally in their sleep only. An idea that falls apart when you consider that dc comics have probably had a hundred or more alien characters and species depicted with most of them being close enough to human to emote in a way readers can connect to
I always thought that the Ultra Violet Corp should've been fuled by Indifference. If standard Colors are Emotions, then what's the opposite of that? Not feeling anything at all. An Emotion that isn't there, just like Ultra Violet.
except the UV part of the light spectrum isn't anti the visible light part, its got more energy/a smaller wavelength UV is there, just invisible to humans. So its makes sense to be hidden emotions, tho the positive ones would work better cause its beyond violet (which the blue end of the spectrum are positive emotions) while infrared should be negative (cause the red end is negative)
@@soaringraven0 The way DC handled the Ultra Violet Corp they were basically treating it like the Black Lanterns 2.0. By which I mean they treated it like it was the Anti Emotional Corp. So I feel like having it be fueled by Indifference would've worked better from a Storytelling point of view. Because let's not pretend that Science comes before the Story in DC.
@@soaringraven0 Honestly I actually have been studying the Electromagnetic Spectrum on my own for a few days. And I feel like some Liberties could be taken when it comes to Scientific accuracy for the sake of the story. As long as it's good it doesn't have to be 100% factual. As long as they don't try to say that their version is accurate to the real world it should be fine.
@@sithwolf8017 What if it was something related to burn out? Like the Aftermath Emotion or something. Sure things like Rage can carry you farther than you think, but there's only so much you can care about at one time. You can't stay Angry forever, eventually you're gonna either fix the problem or stop caring about enough to be upset. Just like Heat through stuff like Fire. Because it doesn't matter how hot you Burn, you're still gonna BURN Out........eventually.
Now we’re waiting for the infrared lanterns I’m imagining the ability to see emotions and possibly read minds, like how infrared light allows us to see invisible things.
Imagine if the vulkins from Star Trek become part of the ultraviolet corps. They're a lot worse at suppressing the emotions than humans, so they may be stronger lanterns.
They have stronger emotions, which is why they have to repress them so much. So yes, they would be as ridiculously overpowered at this as they are everything else.
They don't repress emotion. They feel it more deeply and logically than humans do. They just don't make decisions with their feelings. The emotions are still felt and processed. Spock has repressed things in the new movies but he's half human. I think understanding your feelings logically and allowing them to pass naturally is the opposite of repressing. Source: so much therapy.
It's kinda funny how it's not even repressing emotions to the point it becomes unhealthy. It's just doing it in general. Even those who NEED to be filtered. Other lantern corps are like "You are a paragon of rage, you have bloodlust of a warlord, you'd be a good candidate... if the ring deems you worthy" Meanwhile the UV lanterns are like "you're not a raging crackhead? Okay get in."
If Ultraviolet are repressed negative emotions, Infrared would be repressed positive ones? Like feeling good about yourself, but you can’t because your self esteem is low. Being in love but you can’t say anything to the object of yours desire. Hopefulness hidden behind pessimism.
Ultra violet lantern concept has a very interesting connection: People can’t see ultraviolet radiation and you can’t see repressed emotions, so both require “intervention” to reveal them.
I feel like an infrared corp would make more sense as it is represents something beneath the visible spectrum. Maybe even make It's members be weaker than the other corps, but far more crafty.
Imagine the dude who's repressed emotion is annoyance in being forced to work when all he wants is to chill and then the giant magic planet forces a ring on him and makes him fight flying green men making him even more annoyed.
I wish they delved more into the invisible spectrum. If ultraviolet lanterns power was repressed negative emotions, imagine if an infrared lantern corps existed that did repressed positive emotions
I think this actually goes to show just why there are so few lanterns that are human. Of course the least common species to have the extreme emotions connected to these rings would have the most repressed emotions instead.

To oppose this power, it seems like you must embrace all emotions. Positive and negative ones. By being in tune to your emotions you can counter this ring. Those who suppress how they feel would just feed the ring. Not so much as feeling nothing but more so fighting the negative emotions you do feel.
