Perfect. 👌 This will also apply to the starting stations. Unless those platforms are on main line cleared for 130kph… in this case, VB8 will actually reach midway station earlier, and may have to actually halt longer to leave at scheduled time!!!

Also in sharp curves, train speed is restricted. In this case 8 car vande bharat will clear the curve first.

8 Car VB needs less energy to travel the same distance and acceleration than a 16 car VB train. The 8 car VB uses all 16 traction motors to move, although it can manage with just 8 traction motors. The 16 car VB definitely needs 16 traction motors.

@@NatarajanC12119 yes correct and each motor coach has 4 traction motors....rated at 250-300 kW each. They run from a 1.1 kV VVVF traction converter output. So a 8 car VB has 16 traction motors out of which only 8 are used from just one WBL 85 pantograph. The rest are kept spare. A 16 car VB has 8 motorcoaches and thus 32 traction motors, but only 16 traction motors are used from two WBL 85 pantographs, and rest are kept spare.

@@NatarajanC12119 one traction converter is connected to two traction motors. So for isolation, if one motor develops a fault then the converter it is connected to is turned off.

No doubt 9 car would take precedent overv16 car vb. One more point is the 16 car would accelerate to maximum permissible speed of 130kmph not half formation but after full 16 formation enters main line

Sir. VB is based on series shunt motor base mathmatics is the base for all. Both can pick up speed at the same time as they are series shunt driven and AC three phase.

VB has 3 ph AC induction motors. The common MEMU or EMU uses dc series motors (not dc shunt motors) for propulsion as DC series motors help generate high starting tractive effort.

New doubt now. Initially the VB project was called train 18 right ? Why was it called specifically as 18, if it was designed as a 18 car set then why aren't we seeing any VB with 18 coaches ? Is it possible to have extra cars for the set with same power, example adding 1 or 2 more cars to the already existing 8 car set without a power car.

I think it was called Train 18 simply because it was expected to enter service (or at least just be unveiled) by 2018

Train 18 because it was planned to launch in 2018. 4 cars form a set so addition or deletion will be in multiples of 4

Less load 8 car and more car more load mean that 8 car is more efficiency mathematics working than 16 car VB . Thank you sir

But does this hold even for braking? Since VB16 is heavier and has much more momentum than VB8 it needs to start braking earlier that VB8 which means it covers lesser distance in high speed as compared to VB8
