Which VIRAL LIP BALMS are *actually* worth it?

I found you through typing in the search 'rhode lip treatment' and holy canoli the descriptor words you used for balms is way beyond the high praise I've given everyone for twist-tube Burt's Bees. 30y/o male and all I want is the crack in my lip to go away, a fine lass from work gave me the rest of a tube of rhode watermelon slice lip treatment in a dire time of need when i didn't have my trusty BB Vanilla to make my lip stop throbbing, and now here I am, researching and finding out why I like rhode. You taught me what 11:00 is and why it's better than the ingredients I've researched myself for Burt's. You friggin' rule, bud

I would love to see an Asian beauty version of this video! Some brands I’m interested in are romand, peripera, and flortte (c beauty, you can get it on chic decent). Judy recently did a similar video but she’s from New Zealand and only uses cruelty free products so I think you would still bring a different perspective

I love the summer Friday’s balm- I have it in cherry and vanilla and love both, def recommend the cherry one, but the vanilla one is just clear lip balm and not really worth the price..

I was really hoping to see the too faced pillow balm rx in this review just to hear your thoughts. I’ve bought my second tube, and imo its pretty thick and I prefer to wear it at night or at the gym. Just curious to hear your thoughts on it in comparison to these ones. Im really thinking about buying the summer friday balm

i also really like the rhode lip balms. i sort of bought them on a whim, not expecting too much and was happily surprised. i love the staying power and the shine they give off. i didn’t get the vanilla, but i think the watermelon scent is similar in that it smells like watermelon but it’s not overly smelling, like watermelon juice vs watermelon candies

I am obsessed with the Summer Fridays balms, I have all the flavors, bought the pink one twice now! It's just so nice for throughout my workday, or on the go.

I was so disappointed in the summer fridays balm, I felt like it sat on my lips instead of penetrating so it ended up not doing anything for my dryness. Unlike the naturium I absolutely love! Made my lips so soft!

I really wish brands would get over this trend of putting menthol in their products... it makes my lip line break out.

Summer fridays and rhode are the only lip balms (excluding tube spf lip balm i put underneath them) i use. They leave my lips so soft and hydrated and stay on forever

the laneige glossy balms are so underrated. i love the gummy bear one!!

I find the Laneige lip mask dries my lips out, and definitely never lasted all night on my lips either. I've gone through two full tubs trying to make myself believe the hype. As someone mentioned, the Elf Ride or Die lip balms were amazing... so thick! RIP. Right now I'm using the Paula's Choice lip mask in the tub for overnight. For cosmetics purposes when I go out (paired with a lipliner often), I use the popular drugstore lip oils such as the NYX Fat Lip Drip Oil and the Milani Fruit Fetish Lip Oil, as they're fairly long-lasting and also nourishing.

I’m interested in the Naturium. They have a wonderful makeup removing balm as well. The laneige is a great value since a tub last a long time.

I love any polybutene lip products! When a product has that in the first three ingredients, I know I’ll love it. It’s a super helpful thing to know so I can avoid products without it!

I use rhode at home and at night and LOVE IT! I use the Cay skin spf one when I’m going out. I’ve noticed a huge difference using spf lip balms during the day. Those two have saved my dry lips. I clearly like thick gel type lip care that melts in and doesn’t wear off easily.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm is my ride or die lip product of all time. It’s my holy grail. It always makes my lips juicy, it never bleeds out of my lip line and I get complimented every time I wear it. It is the only product I use that actually keeps my lips moisturized. Plus all the colors and flavors are delicious.

I have both the summer fridays and the rhode lip balms and I highly prefer rhode… summer fridays is a little too sticky for me, they taste great though… I was never really impressed with any of laneiges products. My favorite lip balm is the drunk elephant lippe balm because its ACTUALLY a lip balm and heals chapped lips lol

I’m still looking for a replacement for my Bite Beauty Agave but alas … I liked the original Naturium but I appreciated the original metal tip (and since she sold out this week it feels kinda icky to support the brand now). laneige sleeping masks burn my lips so bad. same with many other lip products. I think i have an allergy

I finally got my hands on the summer friday vanilla beige! I'm so excited to start using it in fall! I also love the laneige lip sleeping mask. I always use it as a morning gloss as well. It's so pretty and lasts so long. But I do like Berry more than Grapefruit so maybe not all scents are made the same. And as someone who just doesn't have time to reapply at work, I like having something I can just put on and rely on. (Another good one is the Muji Lip Essence. So good!!) I think these sort of hydrating lip products are my favorite. I love a little tint, I love the glossiness, and I love the moisture.

I really enjoyed this video and how detailed the comparisons were. The only thing I didn't like was that it featured Naturium. Susan Yara's dirty tactics don't sit well with me at all (bashing competing products while hyping her own brand before she even revealed it was her brand). Not to mention her clear violation of FTC guidelines. Sorry not sorry. Naturium will always be a hard pass for me.

The new Balm Dot Com formula is unusable, what would be your best suggestion for a comparable alternative?

The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is one of those products I literally can't live without. I don't wear it during the day at all (unless I somehow have no other semi-nourishing lip product nearby) but it's THE BEST for wearing while I'm asleep. Literally tried so many other things before I found this several years ago because my lips are really dry and used to flake a lot even if I constantly wore balms during the day. Thankfully a 20g pot lasts me 6-9 months of nightly wear so it is really affordable as well.

Still love the Jack black balms and the original glossier balms. Didn’t like the new glossier formula, the new elf formula, or the naturiam unfortunately.

Would like to see a video again like this but where you test the products formula and you don't know which product is from which brand...and then you evaluate what you like purely based on formula and feel of product. I would be more interested in that and would feel like there would be less bias because of certain packaging or luxury branding, etc.

rhode doesn’t have a cherry shade one. that picture that you posted is a clear lip treatment with strawberry scent. but rhode is releasing tinted versions of their lip peptides this end of the month.

I have tried so many lip balms, treatments, masks, etc and i have yet to find one that doesn't just disappear after 5 seconds and actually stays thick and lasts on my lips and provide intense moisture. So if someone has any suggestions....

I love the Rhode one so much, the shine is very long lasting, very good spreadibility and not heavy. I agree when Amanda said that this is 'gel-like', which I find very pleasant to apply and re-apply! The summer fridays one are alright, the rubber applicator is a little weird to me and texture is abit more tacky. Laneige one is too heavy for my liking, but very nourishing.

My favorite is the MAKE Serum Balm Intense. Fantastic product. So terribly underrated!

Im allergic to lanolin. La mer and Summer Friday’s the only lipbalms that impressed me!

Fenty lip masks are awesome too. The Melon one has gold flecks.

Hahahaha, I love the Summer Fridays lip balm and haaaate Rhode. Just goes to show how personal these products are! But when you explained that Rhode uses an alternative to mineral oil, that makes perfect sense, because I hate that thick occlusive texture on my lips.

Anytime I have put the Laneige on my lips I wake up with my lips dry and cracked. I wonder if I am just sensitive to something in the formula.

Your videos are so great in general. Just the way you compare formula, practical products and packaging. I am one of those with the dry lips. I really do want to try a matte formula so scared too. If you had any lip creams that were good for that it would be great.

I have succhhhh an unpopular opinion about the Laneige balm...I think it is overpriced and doesn't do anything if you actually have super chapped lips lol it just does not work for me! It just kind of sits on top of my lips without actually conditioning and healing them...sorry to the laneige lovers lol

Sadly I think the rhode strawberry lip treatment is clear I wish they made a colored balm.

Wasted my $$$$ on sooo many types of balms, and the best for winter and hydration 💯 was the Burts Bees therapy lip balm in the squeezy tube. Nothing, I mean nothing, has been better for hydration and staying power. I hope they keep it. I do not mean their lip oil, this one is in a white tube with turquoise cap. I am a lip balm obsessed person for decades (I am 51)

The Summer Fridays is like wearing a Laniege Sleep Mask in the day time = Too Much of a Good Thing!!! Feels goopy & heavy in a way that sticks around but I have big lips so maybe thats why I can't deal

I will repurchase the rhode one until they have a formula change or they discontinue it. I stopped using it for a few days recently bc I thought I had COVID and didn't want to infect the tube and my lips were a wrinkly, dry mess. It was then that I realized how much it really does for my lips because I usually use it every day!

The rhode lip balms gave me cracked lips. They are really thick, besides that they are just ok. I'm not really a fan of the taste of the scents in my mouth. im down to try different ones though.

I wonder if the summer Friday one varies between shades because I have the coral one and when I apply it a couple times in a row it’s super tacky and lasts a long time even after the color fades. I’ve tried a bunch of the Naturium shades and they seem more oily/silky and less tacky, but don’t last super long, and the shades are so sheer that they all look pretty similar on my lips. I have a couple Hourglass balms and I like them in theory, the colors, shine and texture is great, but the mint irritates my lips and I think they actually make my lips drier the more I wear it. The formula just sits on the surface and looks good, but does nothing for dry chapped skin. If I had to choose I’d probably pick Naturium for the price point and nourishing feeling, and of course the classic Laneige lip masks for night time is kinda unbeatable. And their matching lip glosses in the tubes are decent too. I think the newer Milk makeup glosses are worth mentioning, they’re a bit similar to hourglass imo.

Amanda…did I miss you talking about the hourglass skin tint?? Because if I did I’m so sorry if not tho, try it!!! Really impressed with this formula. I’m 31 and it gives my skin a boost reminiscent of my favorite shiseido radiant lifting foundation. Normally love my my Mac face and body for skin tint but this is the coverage and boost that formula is missing! And the color adapts seriously the way shiseido does! Give it a go if you haven’t already 🥰
