It's not even our continental tournament. It's the CONMEBOL championship that invites teams from CONCACAF in to make up the numbers since CONMEBOL only has 10 member nations. World Cup qualification is far, far more important.
Futbol Americas is awesome show. We need to make Copa America better 1.5 millions tickets sold breaking records viewership on Fox sports it has to play every 2 years hosted in the U.S.A. every 2 years.
Depends on how successful your nation is. If i was him I'd rather win a trophy because the expectation is too high if you qualify for a world cup especially for a nation like Venezuela you arent expected to win anything.
You ask any other country in south America and they would for sure say win Copa America. Unequivocally. This isn't the Gold cup. We are talking about meaningful silverware.
Qualifying for the World Cup, especially in South America with Brazil, Argentina, etc, is very very dificult. I believe Venezuela is the only country to never have qualified. It is a matter of national pride and idendity. People from US and Mexico cannot understand this.
For 2026, 6 of the 10 CONMEBOL member nations qualify and the 7th place team makes the intercontinental playoff. How is it "very, very difficult" when 65 percent of all the teams that enter (counting the playoff team as a half-qualification) qualify?
Nonsense I want a trophy. Playing in the World Cup is awesome and almost a trophy in itself but it’s not a trophy. I want to remember my team as champions and if my team wins a copa America then it means it’s the best team in South America. I would love those bragging rights. I feel like it’s almost a loser mentality to think otherwise. Trophies over everything
