Herc, this kid was slighted. Very little addressing that and the "type" of player the USSF leans on. You know the hardworking, athletic person who can barely make a pass.
Less and less Latino rep making it onto the US team. I wonder if that's what the Federation meant when they said they wanted to "change the perception of soccer in America". I hope this isn't the case.
Ali krieger is looking at it in a women soccer perspective as the olympic soccer tournament is huge for women soccer but not so much for men's soccer ! Argentina is probably the only country to ever take their olympic truimph into a positive into their senior side. Mexico won it back in 2012 vs brazil and only hector herrera was the only one to make it into the Mexican senior side as I am not including peralta because he was already a norm in the senior side. The only thing I agree with Ali is that MLS should not be having a season throughout the summer but the MLS season is in full swing and he risks the chances of getting injured and being replaced by someone else from his club to play in a tournament that is not exactly high prise.
Jhamdan, try look into what Marsch actually said before you throw around groundless, quite frankly foolish insults. Marsch is a very intelligent man & a very good & experienced coach. He obviously didn't tell Crepeau to foolishly just move up & battle strikers in the midfield. He is always discussing tactics & strategies.
So I'm just going to point out one important fact that everybody likes to ignore. In today's International Football we have something called dual Nationals. These players have options. If Mexico is giving Luna an opportunity while ussoccer is not you cannot complain. This story sounds very familiar to what happened with Balogun and England. Southgate told Balogun he had to go through a process while US soccer offered him a starting spot. You must not be hypocrites.
I will give you the same recommendation I am giving to all the talking Pundits/heads show: GET THE MLS OWNERS TO PONY UP $100,000 per franchise to pay for a top quality manager and bypass the sponsors and the Federations financial restrictions. THIS IS SUCH A SIMPLE SOLUTION I CANNOT BELIEVE NO ONE HAS COME UP WITH IT! If 2026 is a failure they, as owners, are permanently fixed as the 5th biggest league fighting the WNBA for a peanuts TV contact for the foreseeable future if not forever! I am disappointed in your approach to to this whole GB fiasco. Been following religiously since 1989 watching the T&T miracle with my 2 Italian & Argentinian roommates . I will be dead before the USA hosts another WC. 2026 is it. USE YOUR PLATFORMS TO STOP COMPLAINING AND GIVE ACTUAL IDEAS!!!
I’m an American, but it fills my heart to see this Canadian team do so well. They remind me of the US team before this current generation of European players. They have a lot to prove and nothing to lose. Scrappy, but play with a lot of heart. Canada feels like our little brother, I’d hate to lose to them, but them doing well elevates all of Concacaf.
@DazzledBanana, I was with you all the way until that "little brother" comment. The truth is that when we look at your messed up soccer federation, your awful gun laws & ridiculous # of mass murders; Your terrible medical care situation; the crazy political divide etc... we actually feel much more like the mature older brother.
Hurc is totally right in the arguement. Bombito should have done a lot more in that instance. Max is following orders and should that ball have moved differently we would be praise Max for coming out and challenging Rondon before he had a chance to make a play. As it is rondon got the better of Bombito and the ball. A conservative coach would of had his goalie in the wickets. Think of all the huge save Max had against Argentina because he came out and challenged. The others are expecting Max to have foresight and to read the play before it’s happened. As soon as Max realized Bombito was beaten he was running back to defend. Can’t always read the play so well even for a well seasoned guy especially one taking chances
You ask any other country in south America and they would for sure say win Copa America. Unequivocally. This isn't the Gold cup. We are talking about meaningful silverware.
Canadians might be the worst fanbase in this Copa. Grow up watch soccer from around the world and stop complaining like little kids. You have one good tournament and now yall think you run shit? And thats with me rooting for Canada in the past and i do agree that the panel should have focused on Canada instead of the U.S.
The refereeing wasn't terrible. This is what CONMEBOL refereeing is like. The referees will try to avoid giving yellows and reds as much as they possibly can but they are okay with giving fouls and free kicks. CONCACAF and UEFA region refereeing have their own quirks too. Here's the big point I'm trying to make. The referees will be refereeing like this for the rest of the tournament. It's up to all teams to live with it and adjust accordingly.
OttawaRocks, what you just described is terrible Reffing! Listen, it's one thing to make mistakes; but to be biased, or to purposely ignore the real rules, is inexcusable. Just because we can expect the crappy Reffing to continue for the rest of the tournament, sure as hell doesn't make it right. Yes, CONCACAF Reffing is poor too. This may be worse!
Reyna was the best midfielder - Berhalter doesn’t play him benches him in the World Cup, USA doesn’t select Luna to take him on the main roster wants him as an alternate. We have no one to blame but our federation for the nonsense decisions especially with bringing Berhalter back as head coach. If I’m Luna I don’t go either this isn’t about selfish this is about why aren’t we fielding the best under 23 squad if we are really serious about winning. The US soccer federation needs a overhaul it needs to clean house the folks running it certainly don’t get it.
Herc stated the core strength of the Canadian was the familiarity of the players with one another. Well, the US players have been together under Berhalter for 5 years yet don't show similar levels of cohesion.
I wouldn't coach or lead a group of women into a gold mine or into a war zone. You can't treat them equally because if you do you could lose your credibility or freedom. F no.
THing I noticed was Crepeau, when he realized he was in trouble, first back-pedalled for a bit, then turned around and ran .. if he had turned and ran from the start he would have been back in time.
This is one of the worst snubs of a domestic player in recent US history. Luna always passes the eye test when he puts on the shirt, fans of other teams loved watching the guy. He should be starting, not be an alternate. I agree with him declining, i wouldn't be happy with someone lesser than me starting either. Make your stance, to hell with the USSF they don't know what they're doing. For example, Berhalter should've been fired since the Uruguay game ended, now they better hire Klopp.
Americans acting like the mad rapper having to talk about canada lmao except Hercules Gomez, all the respect in the world for that man. He played for Toronto FC, he's spent time in Canada, he's seen our program struggle to get off the ground and now he is enjoying watching those struggles turn into this fruition. Also one thing that needs to be said. having 11 better players dosent mean you play better. if 11 players of lower caliber can play a perfect game TOGETHOR, they can beat a much better opponent. You see it in the peru, panama, venezuela and canada squads. being better on paper or in salary means nothing.
TheManInTheRing, I agree with everything you said, except for the fact that I would take Canada's top 8 players (Davies, David, Larin, Buchanan, Shaffelburg, Eustaquio, Kone & Johnston) over the U.S. top 8 any day & Canada has the better keeper in Crepeau too. Not to mention the fact that Canada has several young players who also have a very bright future, such as Bombito & Cornelius & several players on their bench too.
@@jrcanuck1 I find listening to american football commentary so caustic because they believe they should win, they look at the incomes, leagues, and this expectation to win is just so caustic. Canada dosent do that
If they sign klopp it’s like game on for the US….the whole outlook changes. They instantly become a legit team overnight to serious soccer fans. When the guy coaching the team doesn’t have as much experience as the guys he’s coaching a serious soccer fan cannot take that team seriously. People that watch premier league and laliga and serie an and not MLS will instantly start watching the usmnt if klopp or someone of that level is hired.
