Thank you for the video. I have a Whirlpool GEW9200LL1 and this video worked. There was an additional screw and bracket on the lint cover. I did not need to remove the first wire (was able to work around it). It looked like I might have to remove more wires from the heating element housing, but the piece does slide out like in the video. Glad I watched it.

Very helpful although I think the camera should have covered the left side of the unit and also the step reattaching some parts was omitted. All minor....but one things wasn't, and that was the lint should have been cleaned out of everything before inserting the coil. BTW, would the units diagnostics isolate the problem? I have tried a couple of different buttons but no luck in getting diagnostics started. I wish the instructions were specific into which button one should use. Ps...one of the better DIY videos.

Hi Troy, I replaced the element but have no way to check continuity. There still isn't heat coming from the vent or in the tub. The old element had cracks in the flat housing but not the actual element so I replaced it anyway. How often does the board go out on these exact model dryers?

Sounds like you may have weak coils on your gas valve or a plugged vent that is cycling off on the high limit thermostat.Try running the unit with the vent disconnected that will tell you if its in the vent. If it still does it replace the gas coils. ***** Thanks so much for your reply. I have a ref# from your parts dept on standby but not quite sure what to get. It starts to glow during the cycle like it wants to light up again but never does. (only ignites during the first few min of a cycle), need to order parts asap What should I get?
@Appliancevideo
@Appliancevideo 10 лет назад
You have an 85% chance of it being a bad igniter. And a 15% chance of it being gas coils. The igniter is cheaper so I would start with that. Good let us know how it works out. We like to know if it gets fixed. We also have igniter videos at our website ApplianceVideo.com. if you need one.

Thank you for this! The worst part of the whole thing was getting out the 'tube-ish' casing that holds the thermostats & heating element (I've got an older Whirlpool Gold). It took three >10 minute wrestling matches to get the freaking thing out, & I couldn't see how it set in the flange at all. Testing thermostats & heating element, ID'ing the problem, ordering & replacing the parts took maybe 8 total minutes. Now I can't get the bloody blasted frigging piece of filth back in. Anyone got any hints as to how to get the $@^$%@&*ing thing back?? I'd REALLY hate to spend mover $100 to have someone in to just put that one piece back!! update: never mind. I absolutely refused to disassemble the ENTIRE freaking dryer to put that part in*, so I ended up bending down the little, semi-circular tab which went into the flange at the back. Since the whole assembly is held in place with 2 screws on the brace in front, it hasn't made a bit of difference. And my obnoxious neighbor swore I'd never be able to fix my dryer, because he couldn't figure it out. HA HA HA, pbthbthbththth!! . *reminded me of the Fiat Spider I used to have, where you had to pull the engine block just to replace the spark plugs.
