If your Whirpool built in microwave has no power than it might just be the fuse this video will show you how to fix it. DIY parts available at Menards , Home Depot , Sutherlands and most hardware stores.
Great video! Saved me from getting a new microwave. Since I witnessed how my microwave quit working, (suddenly everything went dead). No panel light or area light. (NOTE: Generally a microwave will stop heating food but keep power to the control panel and lights if the Magnetron is gone bad)... So I suspected it was a fuse but didn't know where the fuse was located. Once I got the unit down off the wall and on the bench, I removed the outer housing and found the ceramic fuse. I removed the fuse and checked it with my multimeter. Sure enough the fuse was burnt. So off to Home Depot, got a set of 2 new fuses ($3.97) and back in business! Thanks a million!
Thank you for showing me where the fuse is located. I probably would have taken the whole microwave off the wall to find it. But first, I checked the troubleshooting section in the owners manual. It was a waist if time. It said check the wall plug and the household fuse panel and if that's not it then call a service repair shop. It never said anything about check the internal fuse or it's location for such a simple fix would have cost $120 or buy a whole new microwave. What a rip off. Thank God for helpful people like you.
That finfoil fuse trick, very cool. I replaced a door switch and didn't know why it still wasn't working. Tried your trick and discovered I need a new fuse! Thank you
THANKS so much! This video was perfect---we thought we were going to be buying a new microwave and $3.50 and about 10 min later it was like new! We were amazed! Thanks so much!
Thank you, it wouldn't have been a big deal about buying a replacement microwave, but getting it unmounted from the wall beneath the cabinet would have been an incredible pain in the ass. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video. I replaced the fuse but now I get the close door message even when the door is closed and the plate is turning inside. Any idea how to fix this?
I replaced the fuse, plugged it in and it worked. Then I shut the door and it shut completely off and put me back to square one and now the tin foil trick won’t work an a fuse isn’t solving my problem now. Any idea ?
I just did the same thing. I replaced the fuse and it turned on, then I opened the door and the power shut off again. I have one more fuse since it was a 2 pack but I'm not sure if the new fuse I put in blew out that quickly or if the machine is officially broken now.
possibly you want to make sure it matches up right sometimes the fuses are fast blow or they could be a slow blow fuse so i would take fuse with you to hardware store and ask an employee that seems to no what they are doing for a replacement. For instance the fuse could have a F or S or L letters and all these letters indicate how they work.
