I watched the Toyota Hilux durability test a few days before the Cyber truck durability video came out. Hilux plus that stuck out to me was door slam, massively overloading the bed and still surviving... Cyber truck negative was the rear bumper having a complete no warning before failure do to being a type of die cast aluminum blend was and still is a major issue. The plus was the strength of the outer stainless skin and acceleration. There's more but I wanted to point out a few that stuck in my memory.

Whistldiesel did not do the same thing on the Cybertruck as he did with the Ford. First of all the Ford did not even complete the concrete sewer pipe challenge. He didn’t drop Ford like 6 to 7 feet onto its frame. I can assure you it would’ve resulted in the same thing the Cybertruck suffered. If not, it would’ve bent it like crazy where you couldn’t drive it anymore. He didn’t have his misfits beat up on the Ford like they did with the Cybertruck. Lastly, the Ford should’ve been out of the competition from the beginning when the driveshaft broke. No where in the video did he repair the Cybertruck when something broke, so why fix the Ford when it broke. Lastly, he complained about charging it and deducted a point from it? Are you kidding me? Google should stop paying people like this money for videos.

IMO using what appeared to be cast aluminum for a chassis is just a bad idea, especially a stressed point like the rear frame horns. Frames are meant to flex, they need to flex. Its why trucks used C-Channel frames for many years while cars had boxed frames despite carrying less load. Its why despite all cars having switched to unitized construction today, trucks still use the more flexible ladder frame design. There are benefits to both designs obviously but for sheer strength and ruggedness a steel ladder frame just can't be beat. Cast aluminum is a very rigid material. It can't flex like mild steel can, all that force put into it has to go somewhere and its gonna crack and split like it did in the video. I'd imagine years down the line this may become a more widespread problem on these as the metal fatigues, assuming people actually end up using them for towing (doubtful).
@devonesq.7533
@devonesq.7533 2 месяца назад
yeah, the fact the frame gave out before anything else is really worrying. the frame should be the last thing that fails, the frame has to outlive literally every other component of the car, because you can't just replace a frame. on paper that cybertruck is completely totaled the second that frame sheared off. and for it to shear off the way it did, instead of bending (which is way more common) is another cause of concern, that shouldn't happen under literally any circumstances.

Hmmm I’m tired of all these truck people these days telling about how great there new crap is cybertruck, f150, new Silverado and Sierra , rivian the list goes on. TBH they all are suck I have an 88 gmc with front and rear lockers 3 inch lift plow setup and a dump bed it’s a single cab 8 foot bed runs great goes off-road all the time hauling lumber for camp and a trailer with a tractor on it during the summer and plows in the winter. You can fix it yourself and it’s easy to work on with easy accessible parts no matter where you go. No I don’t know where he got the statistic saying most people don’t use their truck like a truck I beg to differ the majority of truck owners I pass use them for towing, hauling and other activities just cause you use your electric truck more as a car doesn’t mean everyone else does. There a reason it’s hard to find a good clean used truck is because people work them. Now whistlendesiel has put Fords chevy and dodges and Toyota through way worse than the cybertruck just watch his old video and they still started and ran and tried to move. Non of them were towed on a flatbed to the dealership and non of their frames broke.

The cybertruck had a more comfortable suspension but the frame catastrophically failed doing the same thing the f150 did. The same strength yet more fragile material shouldnt be used when the truck is meant to tow. With the jump, he couldn't push it as much as the cybertruck because it has like half the hp. He was flat out in both vehicles. The glass was very impressive, and the c4 test had me going crazy! But i see it as good and bad for both. We dont expect any truck to be perfect, i just see those videos as fun to watch what would actually happen if you did things no normal person would do.
