Whitby Storm No Name.... Im not sure why some weather gets a name and some doesn't, but in terms of stormy days at Whitby, Friday 24th Nov 2023 Was probably the roughest sea of the year to date. Yet no name was given ??
I remember an amazing storm we enjoyed in Whitby, when standing in Argument Alley and my wifes hood was vibrating in the wind. Also on the other side of the river, the sea foam backed up from the beach and the whole of the street was covered in thick, whipped up foam. The wind took your breath away, but the sea was awesome. Great that you didn't spoil it with naff unwanted music. Natural sounds speaks for itself. Great bit of filming, thanks for sharing.👍👍👍
Fantastic piece of photography. Brilliantly captured a storm with no name. Well done keep them coming history depends on films that otherwise will soon be forgotten.
Great video! It's difficult to know in these days of constant weather-fear-porn, if it's actually going to be bad or not - I live in Torbay and if there are tankers sheltering in the bay, then I take the warning seriously, like you said 'The fishermen (sailors) know.'
Great filming, ive had it for breakfast while sitting in my armchair in Shropshire, a long way from the sea, which I long to be closer to,so much powerful energy there! Thank you for sharing. God Bless 💯🙏🏻💖
My Father went all around The World in The Merchant Navy and I remember him telling me that to witness Truly Rough Weather at sea is frightening and has to be seen to be believed.
My father was in the Royal Navy during the whole of WW2 and saw service in the Arctic, North & South Atlantic & Indian Oceans. He told me the WORST weather he experienced was in the Bay of Biscay, while on a cruiser accompanying an RN Fleet aircraft carrier, he told me how inbetween wave crests the ENTIRE 30,000 ton carrier would totally disappear from from view only to reappear 10 seconds later with its bow pointing upwards cresting the next wave
@@walterkronkitesleftshoe6684 I can well believe that my friend. My Father took part in The North Atlantic Convoys going to Murmansk in Russia, he said the weather during the Winter was just horrendous. He served on Tankers just before he left The Merch and he told me a similar story to what you have just related. In heavy weather, the decks of The Tanker would go completely awash and would rise again, several seconds later and no sooner had it drained and it would be under again. Those men were made of sterner stuff than me I can tell you.
Wow. The time and effort put into filming and editing, video, and audio, resulting in a really engrossing cinematic experience. This really is good stuff. Excellent.
Brilliant video, thanks for taking the time to share. We were there as well and featured in your video shot of Mr Chips from the other side of the harbour.😊
Terrific video, excellent photography, editing and overall presentation. I would not go near the harbor! Now I will re-watch Monty Python's "a couple of Yorkshiremen" clip and be glad we're home and dry here in 🇺🇸 (for now anyway)! Job well done, thank you. 👍
Fantastic dramatic footage Glenn, really brings it home why the sea must be treated with caution and respect. I was frozen and I only went from the house to the car. That little curved wall really does help redirect the waves, even though some of them got the better of it.
I stayed at the campsite on the hill, south of the Abbey many years ago. The lady who ran it told me she packed up every September and buggered off to Cyprus until April. Wise woman.
Hey thank you for coming over. I haven't left Facebook but I have left that group. Something about Facebook groups that bring the worst out in people. If you go to my Channel Homepage... Link below, from there you can select the community tab and I post at least 2 pics a day. And thanks again for coming over and subscribing. ru-vid.com/show-UC-eiv-wXjo0pcTp1R8SfFsQ

Remember storms don't need names they just "are". Giving them names is part of the idea to project the image of "being attacked" by the weather. Those at the "top" gotta keep the youngsters frightened. Great filming and appreciated lack of soundtrack. 👌👌👌
You’ve really captured a sense of the power of nature. That sea foam is incredible. I notice you’re filming sensibly, unlike some of those trying to grab a selfie. Those small children near where the waves were coming over gave me a bit of the chills too; they could easily have been knocked off their feet. Stay safe everyone.
Lived in Whitby 1975 to 1976. That winter we had the mother of all storms, with the local coastguard station recording winds over 100mph. Many chimney stacks down, and houses around the harbour flooded with water coming up through lavatories and such. Saw people blown over in the street. And no, CO2 was NOTHING to do with it
The majesty and terror of the sea needs to be seen to be appreciated and respected. Thank you for filming the awe-inspiring angry sea in all its glory. 🇦🇺🦘
Whitby's heart is beating and she is angry . north sea is unforgiving ..Mother nature can never lose..Thanks for sharing ,, anyone fishing while you filming there, I guess not but sometimes stupid people still just go beach or pier fishing no matter what? I can see boatmen have brains ..
There was a yellow warning for strong winds around Shetland Isles. Winds around Whitby were gusting around 50-60 mph during Friday 24th. Shetland higher than 70mph gusts The winds were caused by a low pressure sitting over Scandinavia, pulling in winds from a northerly direction. The isobars were close together and more so around Shetland.
Your channel just came up . Wow ehat a storm havent seen that in years . Tealy vood filming this . One scene from yhe beggining pointing to yhe cliffs no houses or store . Yhe waves looked ten feet tall or more .coming in . Thankyou be safe . In am inland in yhe usa , in the state of utah .
Fantastic footage wish I was there. I noticed when I was there in September that on the pier by the lighthouse there are a series of gaps in the wall with old pulley wheels. Do you know what there were for, did they have gates there?
LOVE WHITBY! Was my second home growing up. This is some incredible footage but it just chops clips or shots too much for me, especially with dramatic seascapes where shapes and power develops…… would love to see shots like these cover a good 30 seconds at least, clipping it every 2 seconds is a bit off putting for me and it lessens the effect of the amazing camerawork and I jut don’t feel able to absorb anything I’m seeing. But that’s your style and so it should be :)
Hi, there are a few videos on the channel with long un broken clips of the sea. Some up to a minute each. They never perform well in terms of views, but I do put them out every so often. I may do one this week. Here is one from a couple of weeks ago for you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hg3jnF-iP2A.htmlsi=k2_xwpyNbluO4Weu
