Desert truffles have nothing to do with their European cousins in terms of taste, texture and aroma. Kemeh is more like dense mushrooms rather than the truffles we know of. Desert Truffle in London can be purchased preserved. As far as I know, nobody has tried to create a market in North America. Desert Truffles are sold fresh to other Arabic Countries. You should ask a dealer why they don't export. Perhaps this is a Business you could start.

Btw, I was hoping to have information about truffles such as how you recognize the good specimens, smells, etc. Instead, you have a combination of mundane comments, wallet waving, alfa Romeo shots and bewilderment. The auction actually takes more time than almost anything else. Regrettable. With those shots and by meeting those people, could have done much better.

+Hassan El - Ignorant much? Europe is not the creation of Islam. Europe is the offspring of Ancient Greece and Rome, with Germanic-Slavic-Celtic-Nordic influences. Islam had a very small impact - mainly in transferring ancient texts that Europe would have had all along had not Muslims invaded the east and halted access to Constantinople. Arabs stole architecture/learning from the Byzantine Greeks and the Sassanian Persians.
