Is it possible that the truffle is being over Hunted and if the truffle doesn't have a time to shed its spores, then that would make it hard for the truffle to reproduce.
If this guy was dressed in a suit he would be world renowned. People who didn't know his name would say, "you know, that guy with the 3 headed beard". When you have a beard like that you've got to be fly.
I remember reading about that! Supposedly they can be just as good as the Italian truffles, the problem is that people keep digging up the immature truffles by mistake and selling them so they gained a reputation of being “bland” when that wasn’t the case
I was just thinking about how America's Northernmost west coast is a lot like France's environment and it seems the U.S. northernmost west coast would be a great place to look for truffles or morels .
Question: everybody can go hunting truffles?? or you need to have some permissions from guverment?? i mean if i have 2 3 good dogs i can go after truffles?
This is the kind of story that makes me say rich people are full O S. What I'd love to do is take a broad spectrum of 50 regular income people and sit them down in their own homes and feed them a meal with the best truffles and have them grade the meal. I'd bet their grades wouldn't justify the ridiculous prices of this fungus. Much to do 'bout nuffin! Beyond Pretentious.
You obviously have never tasted this delicacy. It is only expensivw if you consider it weight/cost ratio, but actually you only need a few grams per person when cooking. Like, for 1 dish of pasta with truffle you only need 10-20 grams per person which here in Tuscany cost you 2-3 euros for the cheapest variety. Saying that 1 kg of truffle costs 200 euros doesn't mean anything as you will never need that much quantity, because its flavour is so strong you just grind few grams.
