The Whites tree frog is one of the best pets I've ever had. Mine actually got out and was lost for several days. I ended up finding him and he was pretty crusty but made a full recovery. They button down and make a mucus layer to survive droughts so I think that saved him. Also he clearly recognized me as his owner, whenever someone had him out and I was near he'd immediately jump to me. Every now and again him and the chameleon would get love pinkies as a treat. I always thought that was pretty neat. Great pet, 100% recommended.

Yes, this. Pudgy animals are the cutest, but most critters that are adorably rotund are actually obese, which is not adorable at all. It’s always so excellent to find a critter that looks that way by design, rather than circumstance. And may we all be so lucky to be so charming and content as one of these guys when we get old.

I had several of these guys as pets when I was a kid, and still have fond memories of them. One of them actually managed to escape the enclosure and we couldn't find him and thought he was dead, then later on my mom went to get the vacuum cleaner out of the hall closet and found him sitting right on it, covered in dust but still alive even after at least several days without water.

The whites tree frog is an arboreal species of amphibian (hence tree frog). It should be in a tank where it has more height rather than width as it will want to express its natural behaviour of climbing. You can keep it in a wider tank but make sure there is height as well, because this way the animal is most likely going to be less stressed.

Omg, my dumpys are my best friends. Chubs, my boy, loves to climb on me, and he likes to be stroked between his eyes. (With wet, and meticulously clean hands of course), Karen, my smaller froggy isn't as social but she likes to eat worms from my hands. I also have a green Tree frog (Trevor) and a red eyed (Sage) and I almost never handle them. Trevor endures his check ups quite well, and stays still once I scoop him up, but I practically never touch Sage. They're also much less social, and climb away from me when I come near the enclosure. But I love all of my froggies dearly.

You said it perfect!! Bio active is best!!!! I got a dumpy and housed it in an enclosure with fake everything. Omg the poop!!! Oh the poops. They are messy!!! I quickly changed to bio active and my life is much easier. The clean up crew take care of all that nasty with minimal help from me.

Mine barely croak and it’s not that loud. Mine usually croak when they hear a noise (like the garbage disposal running) but if you leave crickets in their tank expect a lot of noise!

Just thought I'd add that distilled water will not kill your frog. This is based on an old study and relates to the water leaching ions from the frog's skin. More recent studies have shown that there is ion exchange between the frog and the water and it reabsorbs anything it loses unless it has something very wrong with it health wise. A lot of people who keep tree frogs and dart frogs use distilled water with no adverse affects. Aside from that, a great video indeed 😊

That's because amphibians have very permeable skin so you gotta make sure that your hands are very clean without chemicals and stuff, and if possible a little moist

I had a common American toad as a pet for years. I swear it was able to differentiate me from the few other friends I'd have over to visit. I was able to have her on my lap, where as anyone else, she wanted to simply hop away. This is definitely a frog species I may look into in the future. Nice video btw, not just because it was informative, but because you're not annoying like most people I find online lol.

I never want a pet that's only for viewing. However that little guy is the most cutest thing I have ever seen. I will absolutely get one, but first going to starts collecting everything it will need and do a bit video watching so I can makes it's food because I know that food starts to add up quickly. I'm so excited to be looking at my little guy like that. Extremely beautiful. Even has eyes that looks like golden foil. Down right looks like something that someone painted and glazed. Just amazing how beautiful this little guy is.

i use a humidity controller with a fogger for my Merauke BTS to keep the humidity right where it needs to be. the controller is meant for hydroponics but works great for what i need.
