White sauce pasta is a creamy and comforting Italian dish made with pasta and a smooth, rich sauce. The sauce is prepared with butter, flour, and milk, often flavored with garlic and cheese. It's a versatile meal that can be enjoyed with added vegetables of your choice or just on its own. Perfect for cozy dinners or a special treat, white sauce pasta is easy to make and delicious to eat.
INGREDIENTS :
- Pasta (any type you like) - 300g
- Butter - 2 tbs
- Garlic - 1 tbs, finely chopped
- All-purpose flour - 2 tbs
- Milk - 2 cups
- Salt - 1 tbs or to taste
- Black pepper -1/2 tbs or to taste
- Grated cheese of your choice
- Mixed vegetables (optional, e.g., bell peppers, onion, capsicum, mushrooms, broccoli) - 1 cup, chopped
INSTRUCTIONS :
1. Cook the Pasta:
- Boil water in a large pot with a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of oil.
- Add the pasta and cook according to the package Instructions.
- Drain the pasta and set aside.
2. Prepare the Vegetables (if using):
- In a pan, heat a tablespoon of oil.
- Add the chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
- Add the chopped vegetables and sauté until tender. Set aside.
3. Make the White Sauce:
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for about 1-2 minutes until the flour is lightly golden.
- Gradually pour in the milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
- Continue to cook and stir until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
- Season with salt, black pepper.
4. Combine Everything:
- Add the cooked pasta and sautéed vegetables (if using) to the white sauce.
- mix until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.
- Garnish with grated mozzarella cheese.
5. Serve:
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with extra cheese or chili flakes for some extra heat.
