This is like a ballad for Whitechapel. The lyrics really put you in a place of thought. I remember I was fighting with a friend about how he thought the Westboro Baptist Church was doing the right thing by picketing funerals of dead soldiers. All I could hear was this song while I was explaining my side. I would like to hear more of this but more original instrumentation.
This will remain one of my all time favourite WhiteChapel songs ever. That riff and the fact that Phil didn't use cutturals or screams, but a midway point and it just sounds amazing
Whitechapel will be re-releasing their full-length debut "The Somatic Defilement" via Metal Blade Records in the spring of 2013. Mark Lewis is set to re-mix and re-master "The Somatic Defilement", which was originally released July 31, 2007 on Candlelight Records.
I'm not a huge extreme metal fan at all but I'm really starting to like bands like White Chapel, They are heavy as hell but they have melody in their music which is really cool I respect these dudes.
I would love to hear an extended instrumental to that beautiful album start and end. It's always been one of my favorite piano themes. Need me a 10 minute song out of that.
I was at the show at 1:15. Outside Fiddler's Green in Englewood, CO. It was in the middle of an intersection under a stop light. The moshpit knocked over the fence and a ton of people got in for free. So cool to reminisce. 2012 I believe.
panterask8r14 it wasn't ... They played mostly this stuff for awhile still.... Saw is the law, black out and this album.. but at least they knew what I wanted to hear
Incoming from Youngstown, Ohio! It isn't anything too major but at 1:32 there are highway signs for cities in Ohio! Not a big deal of course, bands drive all over the place so they go near everyone's city at some point. But this sticks with me because, for one: the fact they chose to represent their drive using that small clip with Ytown right in the middle is awesome, but for two: my good friend Tom, who was a huge fan of Whitechapel and RU-vid, showed me this video while we were partying one night in Youngstown!! We both were so hype and excited that we saw our little, shitty city on a music video but it is such a great memory lol. We jammed this song every time we hung out then, and I still currently do because WhiteChapel is fucking killer. Tom is no longer here, but always in my heart and thoughts when I listen to music and remember things like this. Much love everyone, appreciate the simple things.
Also fucking addicted to your live performance on the Mitch Lucker Memorial Show.. Blew my mind. Was watching it with friends at a bar one owns and just went fucking nuts haha. You gained all my respect bozeman!
***** i love this and their slam shit!! obviously the other over this yeah, but "our endless war" is already a step up from this CD. they've got their touch back, well, finding it again as a band. y'all kick ass too though!
***** Every song just looked the same to me, i listened to as i lay dying and ss and bmth and pwd etc. I knew too many bands and payed less attention to younger or more brutal bands
such an excellent display of musicianship in this particular bluegrass-post jazz group. i just feel like dancing. i just want to click my fingers to the beat.
1. you have DJ in your name no one here will take you seriously but ill humor your stupidity. 2. First whitechapel album was about jack the ripper the second was about the personification of the anti christ 3. this is actually some of the clearest vocals phill bozeman has ever put on a track. 4. You have DJ in you name. i dare you to pick up a real instrument.
This band has progressed amazingly over the years, im honored to have found them at such a young age to see them become what they have. \m/ for fucking life
I am not a huge death fan but these guys are always sick. They are heavy as fuck but you can still nod your head to it. All shell perish is fucking awesome too. I like more prog metalcore like BTBAM, Born of Osiris and bands like Soilwork. I grew up on Slayer, Sepultura, Fear Factory etc. How can any true metal fan, not respect this?
I don't quite know what you mean by 'respect this' but i don't like it because its pretty boring. I like heavy and/or melodic music. This is not heavy enough (listen to Nightmares Made Flesh by Bloodbath) and really not a lot of a melody (Be'lakor, A Canorous Quintet) in here.
Deathsmile Grin FFS dude if you checked out the music I mentioned you'd know why this is not heavy enough. cause it somehow isnt really heavy compared to Bloodbath etc.
I love this band man!! One of the better metal core bands out there today!!! Great guitar riffs, A great singer and one hell of a drumsound!! This fucking rocks!! definately check out the rest of their albums!!
how is whitechapel getting bad or decent reviews??? this is one of the best metal bands in the business. this song is prob my favorite one off the new album. gets me hyped up, makes me feel relaxed, then makes me feel hatred from suppressed anger. whitechapel do your thing, one of the best metal bands out there
Maleek Lippold at one point the drummer is wearing some of their own merch...at least I think the vest with the saw and three stars is whitechapel merch?
I like all of Whitechapel's song, the brutal at the start to the minor tweaks in their music. In this they perfectly mix both a brutal sound a harmonic sound from one guitar which is, in my opinion, brilliant. But I should also point out that not all bands stay in one particular genre of music (or are not as heavy as they are currently). Examples are (compared to all deathcore or heavier fans may call 'pussies', or 'faggots') Falling in Reverse, Asking Alexandria, Avenged Sevenfold, etc. These three examples either experimented with new sounds or genres, and or lost their voice and have a genuine exuse to stop growling/screaming (Matt Shadows, Danny Worsop). Anyways who wants to listen to the same album for a decade or two. Whitechapel will become greater and no matter what people say they will always have one album you can listen to forever. By the way I am not calling any band above fags or pussies it is the fact that people can be harsh when sharing their opinions with the Internet and these where the common responses to this comment or band mentioned that they may dislike.
JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES AND NEVER WAKE UP AGAIN! YOU'LL NEVER WAKE UP AGAIN! Chills every damn time. I love the new drummer! Every album, the band gets so much better.
i really enjoy this melodic parts of the song i wish the next album will be like this also the lyrics are deep and the song touched me... whitechapel deserves credit keep it up! \m/
finally a deathcore band that doesn't sing random stupid bullshit, and has woken up to the real world and sings about wanting to change things and stop being controlled by bullshit political agenda
