A blistering guitar solo by Joel Hoekstra from the last show of the Whitesnake 2015 North American tour. Look for his new release "Dying To Live" available soon!!
In my 67 years of living, 54 of them playing lead guitar in pro and semi pro bands, I have never been so impressed with a guitarist as I am with Joel, absolute genius !
@Andy Butler listened to all of them but that doesn’t alter my opinion. Guitar playing is not a competition and no two guitarists in the world can play like each other. My opinion is as said, never been more impressed with another guitarist.
Jean-Paul Haesen joel is at the very top!!!! Ive been playing lead guitar for 22yrs. Pretty hard to impress me cuz alot of players are shit live. But joel.... he NEVER makes a mistake!!! One of the most flawless guitarists ive ever seen. I would without a doubt put him as one of the best pound for pound guitarists walking the planet. Unbelievable what he can do and how clean his licks are!!
Sort of like the great Randy Rhoads. But Not quite as good or talented? Randy was like the Mozart of heavy metal. Listen to some of his solo's when he was playing with that drunken prick Ozzie. Mind numbing. He will school you.
Amazing ... best rock solo I've ever seen period. He did not innovate the styles he played but he mastered them with a level of dexterity and emotion which is very hard to do. He is an amazing guitar player
His parents were classical musicians and Joel started on the cello and piano at a young age. Thank God he discovered the electric guitar. Check him out with TSO at Christmas...
One of the new greats - we loved him when he came to the UK with Whitesnake; brilliant playing, great technique, strong interaction with the fans and he was clearly enjoying himself. His acoustic album "13 Acoustic Songs" is wonderful and shows how versatile he is. Come back to the UK soon Joel!
What's most amazing isn't the shredding, it's the soul, the bends, the vibrato (at 2:20) that really stand out to me. That and the ability to play so many styles so well and the whole musicality of his solo are what really make him phenomenal.
Such a unique exquisite player. His chops are spot on and effort less. His note construction are well-conceived and no sign of flaws or weaknesses. AMAZING
Hoekstra is old enough to have soaked up every major rock guitar influence from the past, then polish and present flawlessly. But still a relatively young dude.Great guitarist. One of my absolute favorites of the past 30+ years.Love those two handed licks.
"Amazing Grace" in perfection, a world-class guitarist who shows once again that you have to learn your musical craft in hard hours of work, also through the classical field. It looks simple, but it isn't at all. Best regards, Horst Lemke, Music Producer & Studio Guitarist
+SIXSTRING63 i could tell that hes a great person just looking at him.. he always has nice manners when he talks and always has an ear to ear smile :) he just loves hes guitar and we love them both :)
I agree Danny, not the same playing style so much as presence. Sykes is the man, but this guy is very very very good. Anyone thinks otherwise probably just wishes they were good enough to lick the sweat from .... well, you know what I mean. Joel is also the man.
Yes, he does a good job with those finger taps. I heard this solo one time briefly and decided that I had to search for it again to take a second listen and I am glad I found it. Very entertaining.
Wow Not on my radar My new favorite shredder And I wasn’t into shredding Now I am Tasteful classy melodic shredding with tons of emotion and feeling True musician
+Christian Grimes It's a 8 finger tapping technique he mastered before joining Night Ranger emulating the style of Jeff Watson in that band. Met him at the XM studios in Washington DC for a Night Ranger broadcast. Really nice guy. Exchanged emails for a little while before their tour got so busy he really didn't have time to keep in touch with everyone. He had good advice and was a really great guy. Sort of what you see is how he is. Many may not know he toured with the "Rock of Ages" musical live, and the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
"Amazing Grace" in Perfektion, ein Weltklasse Gitarrist, der einmal mehr zeigt, dass man sein musikalisches Handwerk in harter stundenlanger Arbeit, auch über den Klassikbereich erlernen muss. Es sieht einfach aus, ist es aber überhaupt nicht. Beste Grüße, Horst Lemke, Musikproduzent & Studiogitarrist
