Outstanding reproduction Brother! What's amazing is that, John's solo you play is from 1985, and you can hear so much of John Sykes's playing in the later technique of Zack Wylde and many other players. Sykes was truly an underrated master of his craft during his time, and it's truly saddening that Whitesnake robbed him of his legacy and income from the 1987 mastery that he essentially created for them. He was a true musical genius of him time period.
woh. that was awesome well done! Not many people coving John Sykes stuff, his speed and fluency and aggression as you pointed out are incredible. He has a really vast range of techniques to make his fast playing work. Apart from John himself, not sure who could have given you a thumbs down?!?
Love it. I've seen John many times and seen countless other guitarist play this tune, you really nail his style with that gorgeous wide vibrato, creamy big bends and some magical picking & tapping articulation and coordination. Great job my friend, keep them coming!
Thank you! Glad you liked it! I noticed that every Crying In The Rain solo clip was played more or less wrong, so I decided to do my own version of it and also, that guitar players could learn to play it like it should be played. And what comes to Doug Aldrich...nowadays he plays solos like Sykes, but I think he should do homework better. Anyway Doug is an amazing guitarist and I am far behind him :)
Dude! You nailed it, big time! I've been listening to John Sykes since I was just a little nipper and he was first in Thin Lizzy back in '83, so i know this solo backwards. Much respect from me
Thank you! I`m glad you can see my fingers and learn to play it. There is some improvisation, but it is quite close to the original. Nobody can nail it like mighty Sykes did! Keep on rocking mate!
Wow. You're VERY good brother! John Sykes is barely human in the same way Buckethead is... I love them both among many many others as well but that was quite impressive sir. Long live John Sykes, THE vibrato's vibrato. NOBODY vibratos like John Sykes. Period. Cheers from KENTUCKY in the USA.
I watch this over and over again and its great! it would be fantastic if you do a lesson teaching us how to play those fast hammer ons and pull offs!! cheers from Argentina!
@mightytreasure Thank you for your suggestion and encouraging me! Actually I have a plan to do Is this Love and some other solos when I find some time. Probably not until the next year... Rock on mate!
