When I started paddling whitewater kayak a friend told me, "you don't need to change rivers just change boats". Just started paddling SUP on the river myself. "Boring"? Saddle up. And yes I have paddled some decent whitewater over the years in K1, C1 & C2. US Canoe/Kayak team 87/88 S

Good for you guys for showing the falls! Thank you! It really helps and gives perspective: what s possible, early stages, etc. Edited videos with no falls suck and seem really fake

Pretty sure sup whitewater started in West Virginia in the 80s when the Snyder boys and co. Ran sh!t standing on thrill seekers ( inflatable kayaks).

This is awesome, but I'm surprised you didn't show any footage of people catching eddies and/or surfing river waves. That's pretty much the most fun part of SUP on a river. Also, I hate to say it but you guys lived up to the stereotype of the SUP rider covered in GoPros. Of all those helmet and board cams we saw precisely .5 seconds of footage from any of them, ha.

It's because this is a totally different topic - this video is 'just' about whitewater. I still have river wave stock footage, maybe I'll edit another video from that one day. The quality of "real cameras" is just so much higher than from action cameras, that's why, as a filmmaker, I prefer to add GoPro shots just very targeted. But thanks for your thoughts, I'll think about it for future projects.

Cool! Seems that catching waves is part of whitewater, but not complaining. And I should say I'm new to SUP on whitewater so take my comments with several shakers full of salt. Awesome work.

You're absolutely right, catching waves is somehow part of whitewater. But usually, if we make a film session at a wave, we stay there at this particular spot for the whole shooting. In this case the video was about moving rivers down.

Yes, most of the boards are inflateables (but not all). I think there are many Starboard SUP among them.

the whole "cool and uncool" thing is way off. sup's are not well thought of in the whitewater community because they are so limited right now, the paddler where stuggling with simple class 2 whitewater. im sure as the sport continues to develop you will have many more pioneers going further and further but please dont break it down into cool and uncool because most whitewater kayaker dont think of them selves as cool that is just the media hype. keep pushing forward, i look forward to the day when i can try suping down some my local class 4 and 5 water

Well, this is not about breaking it down into cool and uncool, it's opposite: just like you say whitewater SUP is still at its very beginning, but you can already see what's possible in the future in this sport. These images are probably some of the very first ever SUP whitewater shots and the film title says that clearly. Yes, this "cool and uncool" thing is media hype. But unlike in the media I am speaking it directly out to make my audience think about it ;-)

Lame music and offensive talk from some guy who thought supping anything other than rapids was uncool. What I saw was a bunch of guys in baggy wetsuits lurching from one rapid to another.

Nobody in this video says than "normal" supping is uncool! This attitude would be even stupid because most of these guys are earning their income with holiday suppers. Are you able to sup on the level in this video (which is 5 years old now)?
