Thanks for the wonderful pictures. Like most who grew up in W. Bay during the 50s and 60s I find it sad to see how the town has deteriorated. So much potential gone to waste. However, you've taken some lovely shots and captured the essence of the places. Lots of nostalgia.
I live in Whitley Bay, have done since the 60s. Pleased to say the seafront has had a bit of a makeover recently, with the promenade vastly improved. There's still more to do, but at least the folk living here are positive again ... for quite a few years the town looked quite run down. The Spanish City has been brought back to life too.
great pics ... my nana was a fortune teller in the spanner and owned some of the stalls .. my uncle worked in the ghost train and rest of family owned restaurnts tec .. great memories :)
Grat pics, but a little sad to watch as I grew up in Whitley during the 70's....it's so sad to see how everything has changed. Looking at the pics now, Tynemouth really is a rose between 2 thorns!
