Her vocal coach did say that you know that she’s a real singer because her voice was deteriorated and was shocked how fast her voice was coming back. Even her I look you album her voice was good.
This is actually one of my all time favorite Whitney performances. I will NEVER forget watching this live. I was floored at how incredible she sounded. The audience was truly lifting her up and in love with her that night. There was so much buzz about this performance after it aired, all over TV and the internet. I remember seeing footage of Celine Dion stopping in the middle of her interview when she heard Whitney singing, and listened in, just mesmerized. While I do like Whitney's final album, this is truly her swan song performance, the last great live vocal of her career.
I LOVE your reaction @ 1:40 "Sing! Sing!"!!! This is hands down (other than the original of course) my favourite rendition of this song! I do not know how she came up with such a different way to sing it! And she could have gone on and on and on. That raspiness IS what makes it unbelievable! I always come back to it whenever I remember this performance. Just spectacularly phenomenal!
I remember being in my mother's living room demanding that everyone be quiet when this aired! She did an awesome job! I miss my favorite singer so much. 😥💕
Whitney Houston still had her voice in 2004. She just was not as consistent in her performances in 2002 and 2003. But this performances alone proves that she still had it if she got enough rest. Also in 2009 when she released her comeback she also had some great performances at the AMA 2009 and also as Wetten Das. A german program. To name a few performances in 2009 were she also had great performances. :)
She sang with everything she had that night. I too was amazed at what she was capable of. Despite her troubles her gift was undeniable. Like her vocal coach said she was a true singer because she was able to regain her voice so quickly despite the deterioration. During This era she showed her true mastery as an agile singer. Its amazing despite the rasp she had gained.
*This was The World Music Awards not American Music Awards.....But I still loved this performance, she showed up & showed out this night, after all that she had been through, this was a GREAT comeback.*
Okay, I was wondering if I was the only one very pleasantly surprised by this performance, especially after seeing her attempt to sing "Try it on my own" in 2002 or 2003. Her voice had rasp here, but nowhere near as much as that performance. After that one, I could not envision her ever sounding like this. Of course it was lower key, but when she did that vibrato on the big "And I", I found it unbelievable. Seems with focus and practice she was able to stabilize and control her vocals in this era. She still had a lot left in her. Oddly enough, I thought Christina's rendition (in the medley she sung) sounded oddly similar to this one, and I liked this one better. Whitney seemed aware of what she could and couldn't do here, and made it work.
She just got out of rehab at this point. Also she had several concerts in 2004. 2004 her voice was fine. It wasn’t until 2005/2006 when shit hit the fan. She had no voice in 2006 according to her vocal coaches. He said she had one audible note left to her voice. The I look to you album was amazing to me personally. 2007 -2009 she sounded fine. Then in 2010 she had trouble again. Look up saving all my love from 2004! Amazing.
I grew up in church then start singing in the choir in my adult years before smoking cigarettes i used to sing way better but now after smoking it's harder to do what i used to but i know and feel it's still there my advise is to never smoke but God is able and he'll bring you out ❤ and miss you Whitney
This is one of the most emotional performances in music history. Whitney you were loved and will always be. I cried a river watching this unforgettable moment. Whitney will always be the greatest singer of all time. OF ALL TIME! We love you Whitney!❤️❤️❤️
JustTheVoice Hehe true! There's only one of you, MANY performers from past to present, AND countless videos on youtube... that's pretty overwhelming when you think about it! Keep it up and just keep doing what you do b/c you're killing it! Even if you do videos that aren't based on a direct request, I still have hella fun discovering epic/legendary performances worth watching through the work you put into your channel.
I watched Clive Davis once say in some interview that he was gonna go to the WMAs in Vegas in 2004 and when she found out she was like "I'm going with you and I'm singing and that's it" and it was simply like that. I don't think it was a vocal coach or anything like that. She might've taken some drugs, not the bad ones though but maybe the ones that help you with your voice. I had a friend who took corticosteroids once because she had to sing at a showcase at her school and had nodules and couldn't pull it off naturally, so she took that and performed well. Maybe that's part of it
She actually was seeing a vocal coach in 2004. He's given interviews about it. She put a lot of vocal work in that year, and you can tell when you watch footage of other live performances from the same year.
Loves watching you enjoy our Queen. You really get it. Keep doing it! You appreciate her for all that she is and represents. Don’t ever worry when it comes to Whitney. God has always had this woman. It was God ! And the Human Spirit!! Thanks
I Don't care she could still pull out something Special even on a Bad Day. You must do a Reaction to Her doing You give Good love on the Tonight show Beautiful in Her Pink sweater..lol love all you Reactions
Yes she gave it what she had I felt yr pain BC she is our royal queen I cried on this first time I saw it. Aretha said she had the heart of a CHAMPION yes Whitney didn't believe in lip singing. Yes we know how you feel she had the surgery n I believe had that not pushed her n she waited a bit longer she would have come BK I believe that in my heart.excellent reaction thank you.
How sad how her voice deteriorated on the latter years. However just by seeing this performance and how her voice did not sound the same yet this performance is far better than any other new artist. Long live in our hearts the vocal Trinity. Whitney may you rest in piece and in Mariah's words during her tribute "we will always have the music"
Here is the link to the full performance. She did, I believe in you and me, and I will always love you. This is one of my favourite live performances after her prime. Hope you guys enjoy! www.dailymotion.com/video/xokt0r
Here's the thing, Whitney's voice changed much in part to the way she treated her body and voice....however, Whitney had a way of pulling off most of her performances. It was like well my voice has changed let's do this....and then here we go again.(yes, she did have a vocal coach, to answer your question) Voice changing let's do this. For a singer who sang live, I'm surprised her voice lasted as long as it did. She put alot of demands on her voice, alot. All the tours, rehearsals, tv appearances, you name it she was there and then her lifestyle. Girl put demands on those vocal cords. But Whitney was such a skilled artist she would just change things up to make it work for her. I love Whitney and she could have sung for me anytime....she was amazing.....but yeah, the 2000's on was rough....but Whitney Elizabeth Houston is still the greatest of all times!!!!
