Whitney Houston is the perfect combination of power, chest, head, bravado, riffs, runs, transitions and registry’s in the most beautiful tone you’ll ever hear. If an angel could come from heaven and sing, it would sound like Whitney Houston. This is why she is the voice! Listen to the way she phrases her lines. It feels like she’s talking to you, like this is an intimate conversation you’re part of, because of where she puts the emphasis and the pause. She’s not a slave to the meter, she knows exactly when to rush ahead and when to slow it down and let it breathe. And she has absolutely exquisite taste with when she chooses to employ her vocal agility, it’s never too much, it’s always just what you need. Her voice… no words. She’s just incredible.

Whenever I watch her live performances, I'm always in awe of her talent. But as soon as it ends, it gives me a sense of sadness. How she gave it her all and poured her heart out, but in the end, she had demons she had to battle against and she's alone.

During this time, Whitney was at the height of her career. She had a blockbuster movie, a soundtrack that was on fire. To make it better, she was the happiest she had ever been-she had given birth to her daughter and her marriage was in a good place. The interpretation of And I Am Telling You is different from the original version that Jennifer Holiday sang-Whitney was telling us that although every single person is saying she should get rid of Bobby and find someone better, she’s not leaving him..she’s staying with him. She stood there for over 10 minutes and sang these 3 big songs like it was nothing. She’s the greatest vocalist of all time.

WOW! The use of freedom to describe a consummate professional working in their craft is PERFECTION! As a singer myself, that's what I strive for... whatever I hear and feel, I want to be able to execute it without thinking and in my mind that seems like the THE ultimate joy. And that is what comes across in Whitney. This was a joy for her. This was home. You NAILED that! EDIT: This was definitely a "Stars aligned" moment. Of course, Whitney, Whitney, Whitney... but THE BAND... KILLING... Ricky Minor and this arrangement... CRAZY! (So crazy, that apparently Whitney told him "hell no" when he pitched it to her! Hahaha!)... The camera work... BEAUTIFULLY CAPTURED! The angles and timing were IMPECCABLE... the audience! They were on their feet for 8 minutes of this 10 minute performance! I put this down as her best ever single performance. You can learn EVERYTHING you need to know about Whitney as a singer in this video.

Was so blessed to grow up in her era's she had at least 20 years on top she changed the music industry everyone after her wanted to be her and she was so beautiful, no one could get enough of her that's why the tabloids stalked her! I guess I Subscribed at the right time! 😆 - And if THIS is #5, I’d be curious to see where this is going, because for ME this is Top 3 of Whitney Live. I also like that you guys actually HEAR and acknowledge the instruments as well, because she had like a 10 piece band with everyone firing at 100% and stood at a mic with just her voice! To this day, IMO her, Patti Labelle, Prince and Beyoncé are the ONLY artists who can have a full band backing them and not get swallowed by it!
