I do feel like Tiger kind of "under achieved" to have been at 14 when he was, and then to go so many years without and then getting 2019. It's not to much under achieving as it is frustration with the "what if" because he was on track to be pretty much stand alone the best golfer to have ever lived.

Always some degree of subjectivity between eras and location. Problem is also that some sports like American Football, Ice Hockey etc. aren't really global in the same way that some other sports are.

As great as Tiger is he doesn't have the Majors to be the outright greatest so mine would have to be MJ, Serena, Dimaggio, and last I'd have to say Messi Maybe Gretzky. It would be so hard to choose 4 from all the different sports could easily have 10 on the list.

Nicklaus competition isn't what Tiger was playing against. Nicklaus barely touched European soil. Tiger won 123 tour events between PGA + European Nicklaus won 82 (Tiger has 82 PGA tour wins alone). They are both incredible, Tiger can make every shot Nicklaus could make, but there are shots Tiger has made that Nicklaus could only dream of.

I feel that to be on the mount Rushmore of sports you need to be world known and transgressed the sports to make an impact world wide. for example Michael Jordan changed the world with Nike and Basketball and also has a fairly clean personal life, so for me would be on there, I believe Tom Brady is huge in America but I'm not sure how well known he is world wide, I know the name as he is discussed a lot, but I don't believe I would recognize him walking past me in the street. You not only have to be the best you have to be the best example, this is why Tiger would struggle to overcome Jack for the Golf Goat because not only does he not has as many majors or 2nd places, he has made too many poor decisions off the course to overcome Jacks example, Tiger had a decade where he was the best golfer who ever played, but a golf career is not measured in a decade. Ali has to be on there BTW, and Serina is a great shout.

I am at the age where Jack is older and Tiger younger. If I had to make a call between the two, I would lean towards Jack but I understand why some people would say Tiger. Similar argument between Michael Jordan and Lebron James.

For me it would have to be drawn from the most played global sports, which I think would be football, tennis, golf and cricket and how the individual has influenced the sport in a positive way. So in the modern era I'd go for Messi, Federer, Tiger and Warne. If it was just America then I guess you'd swap out football for American football, cricket for baseball and tennis for basketball

You can't really do an all sport mount rushmore. There's not much of a way to compare Tom Brady vs Michael Jordan vs Tiger Woods Vs Wayne Gretzke Vs Messi.
