Billy very pleased for you mate! From, one British Army guy to another, keep us posted just finished my life In Canada as a Class A truck driver East and West Canada, US etc, going to take my license here in UK, watched you from the beginning. Gloves, safety footware, hi-vis, a decent multi charger for phone...satnat etc etc, decent bluetooth earpiece, aux cable, satnav, phone mount, pens, spare tacho rolls, window cleaner. That's in my backpack :) Hope it helps..

Spare bulbs, fuses and tacho rolls are a must in your kit bag. The company will supply these

Being on nights and winter a decent 24v kettle too. The one I'd recommend is called "the big red kettle" coffee isn't cheap to buy from services on a daily basis Some companies don't allow the use of the gas type stove in cabs

Good for you on your first job,I have driving buses and coaches for over 3 years,Class 2 for over 1 year I upgrade my license to Class 1 a month ago and they still want to have experience,shortages of drivers 🙄 yeah right,companies advertise and they just waisting your time as they testing the market. Down in South West no trucking available or night shift.Its deadly quiet.... Full driving licence and useless 😑.

You will need safety boots as well EvCargo do building sites and some insist on boots. Your tourch you will need a spare battery as the one with it don't last long.You also will need lots of pens for paper work.What depot.

Thanks for your feedback Tony. I’ll take that onboard. My home base will be in Medway (Kent) but I could be moved around from time to time, but I guess it depends on work load etc

Good luck with the new job, sorry to hear about your bm. Hopefully I can start my practical with mainstream just waiting on dvla sending my licence back had a little set back with the medical ☹️☹️, but my doctor said I should be ok fingers crossed.

Tom Tom now have an app (3 weeks old) that you can pay £43 quid a year for the hgv section (height weight etc) bargain. I'm using it now and I'd say its a bargain
