No, it shouldnt. Coldplay is maybe the best band in XXI century so far, they release album since 2000 year, and they albums is always on the top. It is difficult to compare Coldplay with any other band.
I can't deny how much these nostalgia-fed VHS dreampop buds influenced me as a musician. Their music will always make me remember my teenage yaers. Thanks buds. Thanks Alvvays. Hope you're releasing new music soon
Antisocialites is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. In my opinion, it was the best release of 2017, and solidified their sound to a further extent than their self titled. Saved by a Waif and Plimsoll Punks are both equally perfect songs.
Thank you and I wasn't sure how much of the story of her father to include. There was few other details like that he was taking Molly's brother and two of his friends to a hockey game before he lost control of the car. Apparently the three boys survived but he didn't. Incredibly sad stuff
I saw on their website that they have an upcoming show in Seattle Washington. May 6 and 7. Something called “Belltown Bloom” held at The Crocodile, 2 days 4 stages. Safe travels to anyone attending, record a moment for me and for you. 🍄🧚🏽♀️❤️
I learnt about her Father last year and was obsessed on how it shaped her. Then I came across the lyrics of 'Next of Kin' - "I left my love in the river , The only one I see, I left his hand in the current and now I am left blowing through the trees"
I alvvays thought "Already Gone" was, at least, in part, clearly about her dad, too. "I arrived at the scene, you were perfectly surrounded by pylons. When the crowd separated, the officer said you were already gone. Appetite.. minuscule. Middle of the night, drain the pool, the summers over." :(
Absolutely wonderful music -- and they are happy being as they are. That's the perfect combination. The group seems so accessible, no facades. That is so nice!
This is what continuously frustrates me.... All documentaries big and small leave out the most critical information which is the "Turning Point" .... What brought them from little band in Canada to world touring band and number 1 on US college radio? .... no one just does it themselves without some sort of excellent MGMT, Label, Or help of some kind .... do you know the answer to this? who got them pushed to recognizable success so they could tour major festivals and truly live the rock n roll dream of traveling and playing their music substantially? ? ? ? ANSWER: ?
Whilst there's a wealth of information about the band, I didn't manage to find the answer when writing the script for this video. I'll probably make a part 2 when the new album comes out and include that info if anyone can figure it out :)
"no one just does it themselves without some sort of excellent MGMT, Label, Or help of some kind" That's simply not true. These days, where bands can make a decent living by building an online fanbase and touring, it is absolutely possible and bands do it all the time. As soon as a song starts to get traction, that will be noticed by the algorithms of RU-vid, Spotify etc which will push things to a whole new level. That's when radio play is likely to follow along with tour/festival offers and record company interest. It can be a slow process and requires dedication and a bit of luck but to say that it's impossible to get to the stage that Alvvays are at without some big company in the background pulling strings is simply not true! In the case of Alvvays, they had a couple of early songs that started to build momentum which got them chosen as one of the many, many bands to play the SXSW showcase. Their performance there got them signed to an indie label, that gave them the resources to record an album which was critically acclaimed and everything continued to build from there. There was a time when a record deal was pretty much essential for a band to succeed but the advent of the internet has completely changed that and made it much easier for unknown artists to build a fanbase and a successful career.
