Boys to men's version was a slick rendition but if I have to choose I must go with the original, it's a certain energy you feel every time you here it.

New Edition, hands down! They had the vocals, charisma, sex appeal, and stage presence. They were overall entertainers. I'd categorize Boyz II Men as pure vocalists
This is a good one. Though NOTHING can compare to the original, I've always thought Boyz II Men's version was just as good. They did this track some serious justice💯
After listening to both groups, I give props to both groups for holding it down. However, I give much more respect to Boyz ll Men because they did their own rendition of "Can You Stand The Rain" in a Capella. That shows me that whether it's with music or not, they can beast the song. If you get N.E. to do it in a Capella, do you think the sound will still be there? Overall, madd respect to both groups for doing their thing.

Man please New Edition perfected this song everybody else just tried to lip sync it .lol I love boys to Men but N.E. is in a class of their own. Like the Jackson's was in a class of their own.
It's a metaphor man...lol lip sync mean they just song it almost exactly like N.E. but they just did it without music to show it's their own style. But they did sound very good though.
I love both versions and cannot choose a winner. Both groups brought the song home in their own unique way. The ending of the video was so adorable and kept me smiling. :).
New Edition has more emotional clarity for me. The lead vocals of the other version undermines this clarity with all the twiddly 'vocal effects' he deploys that might be skilful but which, for me, detracts from the emotional flow contained in the melody. A lot of vocalists, especially these days, need to remember that often less is more.
This is a tough one they’re both great for different reasons and time periods. I grew up in the 90’s so the B2M version holds significance for me personally but both are classics.
This is a mood thing. Ill say NE kept their song and B2M did it justice. Acapella too! Temptations, New Edition, Boyz 2 Men, greatest pure singing groups ever. Groups made of lead singers.
I listened to New Edition's version all the way through. When Boyz II Men began, I knew I was ready to comment...I waited. I waited until halfway through Boyz II Men's version. I grew up alongside New Edition. I have enjoyed Boyz II Men (we are the same ages). There is no comparison, NEW EDITION ALL THE WAY. When songs are produced and sang to perfection...every other version will fall flat in comparison. Example: Respect by Otis Redding (I am a fan) and Aretha Franklin. Her version was commercially better. There are other songs that are the same way. Boyz II Men paid great tribute to New Edition. Boyz II Men's version is good, but, in comparison; New Edition's is better. Footnote: I did not know Boyz II Men recorded this song.
I think in terms of a complete song you have to give it to NE. However the B2M version, which is the one I grew up with has a certain poignancy to it. I also think B2M have more singers in their group and it shows in the power of their voices. Doing it acapella gives it a very different feel. I love both and switch between them depending on my mood. Wanya usually can’t be topped but Johnny Gill’s whoah-ooh-oh-ooh-ohhhhhh! definitely has the edge for me in the bridge.
