"Until You Come Back to Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)" is a song written by Morris Broadnax, Clarence Paul, and Stevie Wonder. The song was originally recorded by Stevie Wonder in 1967, but his version was not released as a single and did not appear on an album until 1977's anthology Looking Back. The best-known version of this song is the 1973 release by Aretha Franklin, who had a million-selling top 10 hit on Billboard charts. The song reached No. 1 on the R&B chart and No. 3 on the Hot 100 chart in 1974. It became an RIAA Gold record.
With this peak at number three, Franklin became the first artist in the history of the Hot 100 chart to have a hit song peak at each position from one to ten on the chart. To date, only four other artists have achieved this feat: Marvin Gaye in 1983, Madonna in 1996, Drake in 2013, and Taylor Swift in 2015. Aretha's version of the song was ranked by Billboard as the No. 11 song for 1974. - Wikipedia

From her distinct piano playing intro to the soulful vocals its the Queen of Soul for me hands down! Mad props to the legend Mr. Stevie Wonder for co-writing an excellent song, and bigger props to the legendary Aretha Franklin for totally transforming the song and taking it to #3 Pop and #1 R&B.

Her conviction when she sangs, really delivers and the string section? Impeccable!!! She had an edge, Stevie was merely 17 years of age & co-wrote it. He is my favorite artist of all time - His MUSIC catalog is unbelievable, Grammy for album of the year, 3 of 4 years doesn't rival his body of artistry. Not to mention he's not to shabby on the keys himself 😉

The ballots were different Grandpa the King of rhythm and blues Stevie wonder ballots was settled like the melodies a bit slower. The Queen of rhythm and blues Grandma Aretha Franklin melodies was up-tempo. And we know doing 1960s the music was very very different from the 1970s guarantors disco; they were more leaning toward what we got In the 1980s 90s in a little bit of the 2009s

YEP, @@urbanradionation and @Thomas Morris!!! In both cases, each song (“ _Respect,_ ” and “ _Until You Come Back to Me...._ ”) was originally recorded by someone else, before _Aretha_ recorded her versions of both, and the public would forever associate these songs with her. Even though “ _Respect_ ” and “ _Until You Come Back to Me...._ ” were written by men (and, they were originally sung from the _point-of-view_ of a man singing about a woman), _Aretha_ interpreted them in her own unique way, from the _point-of-view_ of a woman singing about a man.

Through the wonderful artistry of music, each and every one of us has the ability to escape the trials and tribulations of this decadent world. Listening to these two supremely great talents perform this classic tune transported me to a Space of tranquility and love. The true PURPOSE of Who Did It Better is not to elevate one artist over another. It is a way to compare and contrast the different styles and musical flourishes used by different artists to cover the same song. The choice of who did it better is a personal one for each listener. We all have acquired tastes and unique memories associated with a particular song. For many of us, sometimes we are hearing an artist's cover for the first time. I think this is one of the reasons Who Did It Better is so popular. I enjoyed Stevie's rendition. However, on this one, I have to go with the Queen! Peace and Blessings to the ReelBlack Family!
