I'm a BoltS and Also a LARs fan from the 90803. I'll say this about rivers. HE WOULD NOT RUN 10 YARDS FOR A DAMM FIRST DOWN WHEN IT WAS WIDE OPEN! THATs FACTS! For 20 years I'd travel to SD to watch the Bolts 6 times a year when my Rams were in St Louis. I witness his timidity on those types of scenarios many times. He's a good quarterback but he wouldnt run!
@wombatstalker9566 No, I meant rg III , ik rivers did it against new England in I believe the afc championship if I'm not mistaken? Might have been divisional round
Rivers hurt his knee on Jan 14th 2008 against the Colt.. After Chargers lost the following week to the Patriots he had his surgery ti repair his torn ACL. he reported to training camp later that same year which I believe was in August seven months after his injury. How in God's green creation does it take Phillip Rivers to recover from a torn ACL in seven months when it usually takes almost a year to fully recover from a torn ACL injury?? Unless it was just a partial tear and many many players have played with the same injury, I know Rivers was a really good QB but for people to put him on a pedestal because he played on a torn ACL is beyond me just my thought!!!!
I was the biggest SAN DIEGO Chargers fan.. This guy, Gates, LT, Cromarti, etc were my favorites when I was a kid. Sucks they all never won it all but hella good times still.
classmates and family made fun of me cuz I was the only SD fan in East Coast New England but I knew we had sumn special here. Still love that team especially those Eric Weddle, Darren Sproles, LT days
Bro seeing Phil sad crushed me as a kid. He gave it everything he had every game and never took a play off. He made some bull-headed decisions that cost them games when they miss, but look at some of his best highlights.. they are those same type of "All or Nothing" plays where he puts his trust in his reciever. He is top 10 All Time in most QB categories and holds several NFL Records for a reason I loved watching that man play. He is definitely the funniest QB I have watched. I miss seeing him, I hope he does well in coaching. I want to see him in the NCAA or NFL coaching someday.
@@sumwonkool That SHOULD go without saying.. but how many people there are trying to take him down for NO REASON.. It does need to be said, I would also love to see him where he deserves to be, right beside Dan Marino as 2 of the best to do it, but unforseen things kept them from their ring they should have had.. (For Phil.. almost beating the Patriots IN THEIR PRIME on a shredded ACL in the AFC Championship) I cried when they lost that as a kid, they were so close and Phil left it all on the field, you could tell he gave EVERYTHING he had. That man should have a card folded in a display case while we wait on the bust to be made. Same with Eli Manning, the Brady Killer himself. Rivers has the stats, Eli has the Rings. Ben Roethlisberger.. He has too many off the field issues, and less like Terrell Owens just doing things his own way issues.. more illegal drugging and raping women issues.. So that man shouldn't be considered regardless of achievement because we would be propping up a rapist that had enough money to dodge the law. Man shouldn't have any stats after 2008 count since he SHOULD have been in jail
@@sumwonkool 8 time pro bowler. 7 playoff appearances. Top 10 most career wins by a QB. Led the league in Completions, Completion Percentage, Yards thrown, QB Rating, and TDs for at least one season respectively during his career. If that’s not HOF material, idk what is
Bro went out and was almost able to beat the undefeated pats team in the AFC championship game with a torn ACL and MCL with a heavily injured team including gates and LT. There will never be any love lost for Phil or LT
I think that era was the best football ever. Lots of ups and downs and it seemed like every team had a chance to make the Superbowl even at 8-8. Except the Browns. They just couldn't do it. Lol
Phillip and gates was the heart/sole of the San Diego chargers. We always had such bad coaches who played too conservatively we lost games in crucial moments.
I'm a die hard Philip Rivers been watching him as a kid growing up seeing him put his best effort every season every games I'm sad that he didn't get a ring I still miss him till this day hope he gets inducted in HOF Canton Ohio. 💙💛💙💛⚡
as a Colts fan i hated him for a decade and a half, then we signed him. I got to see why Chargers loved him, and I'll never forget how he lifted our team after Luck left. Thanks PhilRiv, you'll always be a champ to me.
I wish I could feel the same about him as a fellow colts fan but the way he ended the final play of the season was enough for me. Him, Wentz and Ryan were the biggest mistakes and waste of millions of dollars. The colts were relying on old beat up quarterbacks to bring the team a championship which I knew wouldn't happen. A new team for them still couldn't stop them from making the same boneheaded decisions they always made.
Phil was my favorite player when I was a kid, he was an amazing quarterback that played his heart out for his team and made every sacrifice he needed to. He also put on a show every week and wore my favorite number all while just making everyone happy.
As a lifelong chargers fan Rivers was an absolute beast. 6th All time in passing yards. Unfortunately we always had the most incompetent ownership, management, and coaching that failed our players.
Yah man, as a diehard Ravens fan, when you guys at LT, Gates, Vincent Jackson, Lorenzo Neal, a young Phil Rivers, a roided Shawne Merriman lol. Never understood how you guys didn't win a superbowl then.
@@reznortetrault4348 don’t forget that insane O-line, Shaun Philips, Jamal Williams, and Quentin jammer.. but we had retard Turner as a HC and that slimeball Dean Spanos as an owner.. btw those Steelers/Ravens games back in those days were the best games ever.. I always looked forward to those games every season.. they were epic wars! Thank god you guys got another superbowl win because you deserved it..
@@reznortetrault4348for real those chargers teams had so much beasts for a few years together like the other dude said it was everything off the field that fucked them up
Why you loss us because your great Q B. couldn't win big games against better than average defenses. He had a good running back ĝreat receivers, and good Oline. He just didn't come through on the big stage. Should have kept Drew Brees!😂
I almost fkn cried realizing hm he loved football an just couldn’t get his franchise a title Ik it will kill him forever like the other legends a without a ring
It's interesting you think that. I kind of thought that as well but I watched some doc about the Chargers and they talked about how Rivers NEVER cussed. Just hearing some of the substitute words he had for various curse words really made him seem harmless. I know you can not cuss and still be a bully but it just seems like the two don't really go together.
As a patriots fan Rivers was a pain in the ass and the definition of a true sportsman and franchise Qb. He held the bolts together and gave them good runs. He was always missing something and never had a solid line that could block for him.
their lack of success so far with herbert is further evidence that the chargers are about as cursed and poorly run as teams like the lions or browns. rivers had to put up with that from 2010-2019 without getting any sympathy unlike stafford in detroit. if herbert who’s “supposed” to be “so much better” than rivers can’t win playoff games soon then i think we need to reevaluate and give rivers some more appreciation and respect. and hopefully herbert can work his way out of la if they don’t replace staley and start winning soon
@@smartax56 completely agree with that statement. We all saw it like u said those 2010-2019 teams they didn’t surround him with any good talent receiver wise after vjax left, besides Keenan. And o line was atrocious for years. But the media loved to give Stafford in Detroit sympathy
Staley is definitely dog shit. You see that choke job on Sunday vs the dolphins? Classic charger-ing material. Just like the last playoff game vs the jags last season. Blowing a 27 pt lead!! Wtf 🤦🏻♂️
As a chiefs fan i loved Rivers. He was guaranteed to choke when the bolts needed him the most and making him scream was my favorite. Dont even care he is out of our divison, he was never a threat.
@abrahammariscal6643 and how many rings did you get with that inspiring RB? Bold move as a chargers fan to comment now, after last night's public flogging. You all still think Herbert is the answer?
Ppl can say what they want. This man was example of winning. The opp knew everytime they played this man he was gone talk trash all game and was coming to WIN Salute to Phillip. Always a legend and shud be in hof
My favorite QB. He gave his all for the Bolts, was a DAMN fine player. Got us into the playoffs enough in my time as a Charger fan for me to consider him the best QB the Chargers ever had
Philip Rivers always reminded of Big Ben. (I know Ben has a ring) but just the way they played. Miss all of those great QBs I grew up watching in the years 2006 and up 🤧
Phillip rivers will go down as one of the greatest QBs ever without a ring and i stand by that fact and aint nothing gonna change my mind he better become a hall of famer
Your not a true football fan if you cant see that he was a generational qb for the chargers and he deserves a ring for his efforts with the team. Im an eagles fan and i know he was great
Bro, Did U Read Tha Question?🤔. No On Ever Said He Wasn’t A Good QB. All I Said Was No Feels Sorry For Him. He Deserves All That An More , An I’m Sorry Ur An Eagles Fan🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️
Those Chargers teams were nasty. 2 awesome WRs cannot think of their names off the top of my head. Great defense 2 great corners and LBs and not to forget LT like come on they should’ve had a couple rings. They also got matched up against my Pats or the Steelers
Man he was so underrated I'm a Patriots fan and he always came so close to beating Tom Brady but always was a rb fumble or a tipped int to seal the game for us
He deserved way more, Carried that team on his shoulders for so long , played injured , made insane plays and was a top tier qb sad he didn’t win a ring
As a chiefs fan it's hard to admit, but I always liked Rivers (as long as he wasn't playing the Chiefs). His competitiveness, intensity, and heart. And Herbert is the same too. I got mad respect for those Chargers QBs
As a Patriots fan first thing comes to mind is that playoff game where both Philips and Tomlinson were hurt, but only the qb was willing to lay it all on the line that game. Reason why I don't look at LT the way most fans do I guess.
Rivers was a great quarterback. As a colts fan, he torched us ALOT. If he didnt have to go against a gauntlet of QB legends every year, he would prob have a few rings.
He was a true competitor, it is sad knowing he never got to one but the way he played every game had me feel like I was watching him play on the biggest stage. I’m a chiefs fan and can honestly say I miss the days when Phillip made me hate his guts for beating us lol cuz now it’s just too easy rn
