I prefer Simone's spin speed and height, but that's probably because I'm used to watching WAG. I find Kenzo's tuck stretched and I do not like the chest down landings in MAG. So it's all preference at this point because clearly they're scored differently. GOATs doing GOAT things :)
The chest down landings comes from men on average having shorter legs than women so require a deeper squat to absorb the landing in the same way. It’s based in physiology and not just men being allowed to squat more, although I agree being more of a WAG fan makes some parts of MAG look a little jarring. Idk why but I actually prefer Kenzo’s tuck being stretched, it makes the twisting look cleaner, but it doesn’t look so impressive to me, Simone’s height and speed of rotation is what kills me, regardless of gender she absolutely FLIES. @@jordansefton the judges deduct more often when the women land with their chests low. The short legs is probably true, but considering Simone is 4 ft 8 in, her legs are short as well. Also, when she debuted the triple double, Kohei Uchimora was impressed. He was wondering how she could twist that fast on her last twist. It was really awesome reading about it. He is one of the greats and to hear that even he was impressed, i knew that we won't have anyone like Simone in a while. That is why as a sports fan, gymnastics fan, and Olympics fan, i am glad to be alive in the era of Simone Biles. She pushed the sport in so many ways. The gymnasts are now being more creative and challenging themselves and pushing their limits. Ok rant over ..srry 😂
@@MC-oj4en you were kinda ranting for nothing. Nothing I said was trying to diminish Simone’s achievements, it was actually trying to explain why everyone thinks the men land skills ‘worse’. Like come on guys it’s literally a scientific fact I’m not trying to downplay Simone’s achievements. Her legs are still propotionally longer than men’s legs are so my point still stands. Plus she’s Simone and has an incredible self-awareness and twisting ability so she does land it better. However my point is correct and if you don’t believe me google it, but we are definitely on the same page though :)
They're both phenomenal and iconic in different ways - I just can't get over Simone's amplitude. She's literally half a foot shorter than Kenzo and somehow gets higher??? Magic.
@@FlyingPancake0390 I agree! This is why Simone is GOAT. There was another comparison while watching trials yesterday on NBC of her and another male US MAG gymnast doing this, and Simone's is so much better!
it’s because of how MAG is taught to stick. As a male gymnast we use a lower landing to control our body weight: Kenzo’s chest is almost as high as Simones, but she dances out of it instead of trying to slow down momentum and stick like Kenzo.
Also remember Kenzo does that pass right after he does the same pass layed out, and these are not amazing examples of his best, where as the video shows simones best.
@@gymcentric5727 Hater alert! Simone is virtually standing straight up on the landing and Kenzie chest is low period. His second one was better but is chest was still low period! Simone hopped back on the first, but stuck the second one - their was no dancing. However, Kenzo skipped out of his first one. The world would be a better place if people stopped lying to themselves.
@FSV he is landing up, but shooting to lower his center of gravity because low chest is not a deduction on floor passes for mag. learn both sides of the sport before you slander someone for something that’s just abiding by the code rules smh.
I was thinking this too. She has so much power it’s insane. Definitely seems like she could do more with this. Considering she’s always up for a new challenge I could see her trying it too one day. #TeamSimone
I think that Shirai has done some way better triple double. Especialy because he did it in a straight position and that is almost everytime clean af, but also because the tuck one is his second triple double in his routine. He doesn't have the same energy to do it. But I still think Simone has the nicest triple double. It's waaay too satisfying to see her perform it !
@TYCHO EGGERS She’s definitely rotating faster. His longer limbs are probably what’s slowing him down. He might hit the floor first, because he’s lower to the ground (and again, is taller), but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s rotating faster.
Agreed. Kenzo almost starts twisting while he’s still on the ground. Simone sets first (better) and gets more rotation and more time to twist…and she looks a bit tighter while Kenzo’s body is a bit more open. She has a bit more solid technique. Also, I think Simone’s flip flop always sets her up nicely it’s SO stretched out and not piked and she hits the floor at just the right angle so all that momentum helps her shoot straight up! Her technique really is impeccable.
Most men have to crouch or bend over like that, because they're more top heavy. Women have a lower center of balance so they stick the landing more often and with a better form.

The shorter legs on average mean male gymnasts need to squat more, on top of being more top heavy, but it’s men who have a lower centre of gravity, hence why they land closer to the ground. Female gymnasts having longer legs means their centre of gravity is higher, being why women are more harshly deducted for low landings than men :)
Clearly Simone. She rotates later which allows her to get more height. Kenzo is rotating as soon as his feet leave the ground and it makes his jumping pass look smaller. His toes are more pointed in the air, but her landing is better.
Kenzo doesn't need to land with his chest up. He just needs to stick it, which is what he does so well. MAG doesn't have the same landing posture deduction WAG has, because it would be insanely difficult for men to land with their chest up high and feet locked together like the women do, because their height and weight is much more than the usually petite girls.
The landing is actually to do with male gymnasts having a lower centre of gravity and shorter legs than female gymnasts, meaning they requirr a deeper squat to control landings than women. So we just gonna ignore the fact that Kenzo Shirai performs a *triple twisting double layout* literally seconds before he goes straight into his triple twisting double tuck? People have no idea how much energy you use up for that. Would be a more accurate comparison if they opened with the same first pass at 100% strength 🤷🏻♂️
Simone is so confident when she lands, chest out,, head held high and she is so much cleaner. He is extraordinary but his landings seems shaky, unsure. Girl power!!!
He is Kenzo Shirai, respect him as well and use his name. He lands with his chest high but lowers it to stick because low chest is not a deduction in MAG.
Definitely Simone. She has better teqnique. She usually takes off with her chest slightly more vertical and starts the twist later which helps maximize the height and pikes down less on her landings. Buy in defense of MAG Kenzo isn't as good as it gets.
Even her backhandspring is slightly better. Coming out of it Simone keeps her head tight between her shoulders while Kenzo' s head pops up slightly. It all adds up when trying to maximize height
Simone. Her twisting is just beautiful to me and she lands straight up which make the skill look more jaw-dropping. However, I love my twisting prince ❤
Simone she’s much higher not only that but because she finishes the flip completely it means her chest isn’t as low when she lands whereas the male gymnast since he doesn’t complete the flip properly he’s landing with his chest much closer to the ground

@@surgeon1016 It says his name in the video multiple times, and it’s fair to think he is worse but in reality, this is second pass, his first is the triple double laid out, and there are better triple doubles from him and from other MAG gymnasts.

Kenzo also crosses his feet Everytime when Simone has her feet uncrossed and together. So among the other reason people have said I'm gonna say Simone.
MAG usually have lower chest positions in landings because of their heavier torsos. Points to consider: Simone- better chest position on landing, height and more air time Kenzo- usually more stuck landing, lesser hops, speed on the flipping and twisting Conclusion: I like Simone’s a little bit more than Kenzo’s but both are really great!
@@DeepSeas.. How many female gymnasts can you name that have busts large enough paired with legs skinny enough to make them top heavy...? Because even those who do have larger busts typically have their weight balanced out by their lower halves (e.g. Laurie Hernandez), whilst the rest, on average are on the smaller side. For a woman to be 'top heavy' it takes proportions that would be almost impossible to find at the elite level of this sport.
@@MD-722 Most of them are wearing sports bras which makes their breasts look a lot smaller than they actually are, while their leotards are skimpy and make their bottoms look bigger than they actually are.

Gymnasts' sports bras are not concealing busts anywhere near as large as you are implying, nor do their leotards make their legs look that much bigger either; even amongst those who are on the _heavier_ side (e.g the Downie sisters). Female elite gymnasts are just not typically top heavy as the 25+ training hours per week and diets they adhere to would not typically allow for such physical developments to occur.
I stopped to count frames watching both of them in real time- Simone spends more time in the air (by a few frames) both times. I think she's more floaty, and she twists so fast sometimes I think she could add another half twist!
I feel like Simone Biles shows more confidence while Kenzo looks like he is trying to make sure everything is perfect. Overall, I think they both are out there trying their best.
Anyone caplable of doing it, and landing it straight up ... And move on regardless if it went out of bounds or not ..if you're capable of doing this monster pass ..and live to tell about it ..who cares.

If it were 2 female gymnasts, he'll yes, I would have said Simone was the better. Simone is the BEST gymnast in the history of the sport. However, when it comes to men vs. women, I DON'T believe they should be compared. It's common sense. So in this video, sorry you are so bothered. They are BOTH excellent at this vault.

Well two things: Kenzo performs this skill straight in a double layout not shown here. And they just so happened to show his worst tucked version of the skill to compare -.- Biased
In all fairness, in both clips, this was Kenzo’s second pass after a layout triple double. Simone did it as a first pass. I mean hers is definitely higher, but that little detail is important
Kenzo has better technique, better form, better landings, and is overall more powerful but Simone gets more height and hers looks more effortless. Something to keep in mind here is that this is not Kenzo’s first pass, Simone opens her routine with this so she has a bunch of energy but Kenzo does this as his second and sometimes third tumbling run so he’s going to be more tired and this have less energy and height.

Although Kenzo has better landings, Simone lands with her chest up right giving no deductions. Kenzo lands with his chest fairly down which could result in a .3 deduction. Simones steps mostly deduct .1 or .3 so they are even but simones looks cleaner.
Kenzo relies too much on fast rotation, which is part of the reason he declined so much. As you get older and bulkier, you just can’t rotate as quickly, which affects all of your twisting elements.
