What people forget to acknowledge is that Simone is technically superb. Raw power doesn't get you to where Simone is. It's crazy that she competes harder skills than anyone else and it's only 60% of her potential.
This is so true- her half on technique is especially good, she does a full half twist before hitting the table and comes onto it with her shoulders square. It lets her get more height and air time, which is part of why her Yurchenko half vaults are so good.
Crazy part is that she over rotated the triple tuck which means she's definitely capable of doing it in competition. Definitely looks like she is the most athletic woman in history so far.
Tacking on to an idea below, I’d love to see Simone Biles stay in competitive gymnastics long enough that for her last individual competition, be it Worlds, or something smaller, forget about winning, and just chuck every insane skill she thinks she can try without getting hurt, and see how many more Bileses we can add to the Code of Points. Can you imagine commentators 10-15 years later? “That was a Biles Ii connected to a Biles III. Now she’s setting up for her dismount, and just a short hop on that Biles I! That’ll bring in a great score which puts the pressure on Russian Simona Gymnaskaya who is the only competitor doing a Biles IV dismount.”
@@koolkitty108 I apologizing for not making myself more clear. I was satirizing about what commentators could be saying at a competition in 10 years or so, when other gymnasts might finally be able to do some of the insane skills Simone can throw now, if she were to go to Worlds with the goal to get as many skills named after her as possible, instead of winning it all. She’s trained plenty of skills that never appeared in competition. If she threw them all and completed half of them well enough to get credit, we could see multiple Biles skills in other events beside floor. And I was joking a little also, thinking that “ Simone” or a version of it, might be, or become, a popular name for baby girls all around the world. Hence the name of a fictitious Russian gymnast. 😉
@@lisastiles1408 ah, okay... and yeah makes sense about the Russian gymnasts. Kind of do want to see Simone tackling (and introducing) more skills now though, and especially things that she hasn’t competed with yet
Not the most difficult of this crazy skills but that double layout + LOSO looks awesome. I hope she plays safe at the Olympics and postpone her retirement just a bit so she can have fun at worlds 2021 throwing all her awesome new moves.
@@ismaelpedroza7918 I think she might depending on how solid it is...in the video she's already training it onto a mat on the pit and that was a while ago so who knows how well she can do it now
Explosive power, tempered with grace & elegance. Not to mention nerves of steel & laser focus. She's in the top tier of all time greats in any sport, in my humble opinion.
Double layout double tuck on floor. and the triple pike. and the Yurchenko double tucked, double piked and triple twisting Yurchenko. and the mustafina dismount. and I'm speechless... 👀
@@koolkitty108 She has stated her fear of doing high-level forward skills such as double-fronts on floor (and, probably, by extension, the Produnova vault, also). I hope she doesn't go for it (I stated my reasons for this in a comment elsewhere on this thread).
Am I the only one who was extremely impressed with the back handspring STEPOUT to triple full on beam?! I’m sure I’ve seen this video before, but still!
If there was ever any other gymnasts that was able to pull out that many additional skills if needed, just tell me. Otherwise I must think Simone is just the most intake gymnast imaginable
Sabrina Voinea can be that gymnast, if she doesn't get injured for doing so much crazy stuff so young... it is very likely she wont peak at the right time
@@ismaelpedroza7918 yeah but comparing how her skills look now compared to when Simone was her age at thirteen Simone’s sheer power was still quite evident and drastic compared to other gymnasts at that age as well. Like some of the videos of Simone in this compilation are like from 2011/2012
I personally think that a neat idea for her would be to do enough difficulty at the upcoming Olympics to really cement her win and repeated dominance at a 2nd Olympics, reveal a new high-level skill or two, and take home 3 or 4 gold medals (team, aa, and at least vault and/or floor, as well as a medal or two of some color on bars/beam). Then, at Worlds, water down enough to where it is obvious to everybody that it's intentional and just focus on doing really pretty, really well-controlled routines to make world class routines look like compulsories.
I wonder if there will ever be another gymnast like her? I think at this point the closer one to simon is jade carrey and she is not even close to simone..
When I saw that Mustafina 😢😢😢 imagine how amazing it would have been if she'd done that dismount for the Olympics. A small tribute to Aliya now that she's retired 🥺🥺🥺🥺
@@henrybarnes1551 I lowkey prefer when gymnasts hide their routines though, or at least only show snippets. For example, when Suni performed her bars routine at the winter cup, I think it'd have been 100 times cooler if nobody was expecting it😩.
They wouldn’t postpone the Olympics any more than a year. If it doesn’t happen this year it’s not gonna happen. But I think it’ll go on but without spectators
Yeah to be honest the situation isn’t too good in Japan right now. And people there aren’t very happy about the government trying to push forward with the Olympics
As for gymnastics, one can really only hope that she doesn't stop yet, she could name so many other skills after her, I hope so much that she will continue to enrich this sport for a few more years
Well two years has passed and now we can take the YDP off this list. The YDP is now OFFICIALLY the BILES II on vault. Yeah! Thing is, although many gymnasts practice a number of skills in the gym that never see the light of day in a competition, one can never know when Simone will perform any of these skills because she is ONE gymnast who realistically can compete most of the skills she practices in the gym. I can't wait to see what other new ones she will show us over the coming months. GO GURL!
Yikes.Right now, mail her both the Olympic and world gold for 2021. Her bravery and skill are unmatchable. I worry about injury, but then remember little people all, over the world wanna do the exact things she has mastered.
Unfortunately because the FIG disrespected her bean dismount, I don’t think she’ll compete anything more difficult for that apparatus. She’d kill everywhere else though
@@americanskeptic1559 She didn’t live up to mine either. God, that’s the only argument anyone has with this chick and it’s absolute irrelevant and stupid. Face it, she quit. She gave up. She relied on others to cover for her. She failed. She messed up. We all do. Quit defending her. It’s dumb. Let her take the hit and leave her stronger for it.
She is an amazing athlete and technically very strong. She lacks the artistic element though which is an absolutely necessary ingredient in the whole, that's why the sport's called Artistic Gymnastics. She doesn't show any of the plasticity in her movement and the beauty of the lines while moving (after years and years of classical ballet) that the Romanians Voinea and Barbosu have. If she dedicated herself in improving that aspect she would be in a different category on her own.
The American athletes are certainly prepared powerful but they lack elegance this is also part of the exhibition ... it seems to me instead that the American school does not care ... instead it could be a possibility to further raise the level
