Yea kind of. When playing or DMing Death Knight character, I think Darth Vader is the closest and easiest roleplay model

Yeah, he feels like it, agree. Though Vader was more ambitious in his conquests, Soth feels more like an introvert, who is ready to join the game, but only if somebody invites him, otherwise he'd stay in his castle and feel ok :D

@@TellmeLore - He's an ideal darklord. Tragic backstory, yet completely his own fault. Plus, Weiss & Hickman ruined the Dragonlance setting, by trying to "finish" their story. At a certain point, creators have to leave their setting alone, and let the players be the ones to change the world.

Going to agree to disagree. I loved his return to krynn but hated how his character ended, was retconned, and then summarily ended again. With Mina as an extension of takhisis soth should have been her right hand. Crushing resistance and spreading terror as only he can.

@@claysmith894 - If you recall (and this goes back to the Chronicles), Soth only agreed to serve Takhisis, because he found Kitiara worthy of his allegiance. Even the grudge against his former Order couldn't rouse him. I was against the entire concept of Weiss & Hickman finishing their story to begin with. At a certain point, Krynn belongs to the players, not to the game developers, who seem to have forgoten that it is indeed a _game,_ and not their own pet project. As much as I can't stand Eberron, I must admit they do one thing right: Every adventure or campaign begins exactly two years after the last war. The timeline ends, and the D&D players are the ones who affect the world's fate from that point onward. The logical starting point for DragonLance is either during the War of the Lance, if playing the original modules (which I highly recommend, albeit with much DM tweaking), or after the events of the _Legends_ series. Three "ages" are not supposed to go by, in a span of less than 50 years. The world of Krynn a is dark age, low magic setting, painfully transforming into one of long-lost high migic. The fact that the Gods seemingly abandoned the world, both knights and magic were extremely rare and highly suspicious, and that everyone forgot that dragons ever existed, was what made Dragonlance unique. It was Warhammer Fantasy, slowly becomming Middle Earth. When Weiss & Hickman "finished" with it, it was more like Game of Thrones, Season 8 1/2-- no gods, no dragons, no magic-- a stale world, with no more epic adventures to be had... Oh wait! But suddenly, there's _another_ war coming; one that's even more or a Mormon allegory, in case nobody got it the first time. A war against "Chaos." Now it's Middle Earth (for about 25 years) morphing right back into Warhammer! Ridiculous. Preachy. Totally unnecessary. Anyway, that's my extended rant. 😀
