I think that Melanie died of not only a broken heart, but also starvation and a broken mind thanks to her dad. I think her remains are still inside that house while her groom Jake's remains is in that black tomb in the graveyard while everyone believe that it's the bride's final resting place. Henry trapped Jake's spirit in the black tomb while he also trapped Melanie 's inside the manor!
Tell me about it there's a story about Between a daughter and a father With a suitor in their relationship Problem that's most intrested about phantom manor in Paris disney since haunted mansion in America.
Am I the only one who thinks Melanie is underrated? Like, I feel like the fans give the phantom way more attention even though she’s technically the main character. Also I wish more people talked about Jake or tried to develop his character. He could have been pretty interesting but they don’t really tell us anything about him as a person, besides the fact that he was the foreman of the mining company Henry owned and was apparently hired by Melanie’s uncle. Also, he seems to like playing guitar. And that’s all we know.
So far the only person I’ve seen actually try to develop Jake’s character is the tumblr account mal’s manor. They did an original design for him too and it looks WAYYY better than the official one Edit: their design for him isn’t original, it’s based off a different character from the comics but still better than the original
@@grogu-the-mandalorian honestly one of my goals in life is to direct a phantom Manor movie (that actually stays true to the lore and isn’t about some random ass mortals)
I do wish we could have an actual Phantom Manor film someday, the closest things we've gotten to that were a fans vision of it, as well as fanfictions I've read which featured Melanie as either her pre or post refurb personality, or a mix of both of them.
@@adamhandley9482 wait how did Melanie’s personality change in the refurb? Is there something besides the scene at the end where she asks if you’ll marry her (which is out of character and I kind of hate it)
Poor thing, she went so crazy from isolation and loneliness (yes, you CAN feel lonely, even when you're surrounded by people) that she begs someone, anyone, to marry her so she can leave and escape her selfish father. (There's a possibility that he was so possessive of her because he was in love with her, like a Many Furs thing.)
Not our fault that Disney decided to have an overly possessive father haunting his daughter while she's in wedding attire. If you ever read "a Rose for Emily" or "the Fall of the House of Usher," you'll find more tales of wealthy incestuous mansion dwellers, which likely inspired the lore of the manor. -It's meant to make you uncomfortable, and it's meant to be subtext.
In the story I've been working on. The Phantom isn't Melanie's father. In my fanfiction, Melanie died at an early age due to an incurable illness, the phantom was a reaper tasked with guiding her soul to the afterlife, but pitying her due to being but a child, the Phantom chose to bring her back to life by guiding her soul back to her body, but in the process, he was banished for defying the laws of the afterlife. He looked over Melanie, and fell in love with her, but that love became an obsession, and would kill anyone that dared to take her hand in marriage. The earthquake was caused by the Phantom, in an attempt to get rid of Jake, killing most who were present in thunder mesa. But Jake survived. Yadda yadda, jake and Mel are about to get married, The Phantom stops it, hanging jake, yadda yadda. Melanie is driven mad by it. And similar to Miss Havisham from Great expectations, she never took off her wedding dress, kept everything as it was the day of the wretched wedding, stopping the clocks to the time jake disappeared. She eventually grew old, but old age, nor suicide was what got to her. It was just a tired, broken heart that couldn't take it anymore, is what finally got her. The Phantom took this to his advantage, and tried to get her to marry him, but Mel, though melancholic and a bit cuckoo bananas, is still devoted to Jake, and keeps rejecting the phantom over, and over again for many years.
@@storiesfromthemansion4387 There's this thing in Post-Mortem, where the opening dates of each Mansion would be the times where Elizabeth Gracey first interacts with the other brides. So 1992 is when Elizabeth meets Melanie.
@@grogu-the-mandalorian I made it at the spot, though after looking at certain stories and/or videos I can't remember as of right now. Not sure if I'm going with this story.
I had this idea that might deviate from the Phantom Manor backstory, what if Melanie wasn’t the only child and had two brothers who later became the dueling portrait ghosts.
@@storiesfromthemansion4387 BUT What If This Is My Tale Of How She Died After Elizabeth Swann Has Lost Will To The Dutchman She No Longer Had Any Love For Will So She Changed Her Name To Melanie Revanswood But One Day She Found A Black Chest And A Portrait Of A Ship In A Storm But Davy Jones Was Summoned And TOOK Melanie's Love Aboard His Ship And IMPRISONED Him On The Dutchman Now She Haunts The Manor Waiting For Her Darling Will Turner To Show Up And So Davy Jones Cursed Melanie
If Melanie Ravenswood has a million fans, I’m one of them. If Melanie Ravenswood has 1 fan, it’s me. If Melanie Ravenswood has no fans, I am dead. If the world is against Melanie Ravenswood, I am against the entire world.
Here's my idea. The Phantom/her father has been keeping Melanie in a mortal state to better maintain his hold over her. However, with the help of the Gracey Manor ghosts, she finally sheds her mortal form to become just as powerful in the house as her father and so casts him into oblivion.
You know what kills me? A lot of fans say they prefer Phantom Manor to Haunted Mansion due to the fleshed out storyline and characterizations of the Ravenswoods, but then they’ll turn around and complain about the addition of Constance Hatchaway and her whole black widow storyline to HM. “Durp durp why does the new bride talk so much? I wish she’d shut up! That old 1980s department store mannequin they used to have was better! Durp durp!” The double standards are so annoying. 🙄 Makes me wonder if Melanie were the villain/phantom in this and Henry the victim if they would even like it as much…🧐
The story I’m writing takes inspiration from this, but does things a bit differently. In my story, a young girl (inspired by Melanie) is kept locked away in the attic by her cruel and controlling uncle (inspired by Henry) until the day she turns nineteen and is expected to marry a local clergyman. She begins to fall for him but hates the idea of being forced into marriage She’s also being haunted by the ghosts of her parents, as well as a mysterious “phantom* who she also falls in love with. I won’t spoil the ending but just know it’s going to be dramatic and lots of twists and turns
If their new haunted mansion movie works out maybe they will make a cross over movie where Madame Leto is the central character and visits these various brides leading to a potential new theory that she is the one cursing them all as she meets them under the various guise of helping them and their husband(s).
So Melanie Locked Her Heart Inside The Dead Man's Chest And NEVER Wanted To Marry Anyone But However She Accidentally Summoned Davy Jones And She Was Kidnapped And Taken Aboard The Dutchman As Her Mother Was Awakened She Felt The Pain Of Her Daughter's Kidnapping And So She Haunted The Manor For Years And Now A Portrait Of The Dutchman Can Be Seen In The Manor And Some Say You Can Hear Her Mother Singing As She Stares At The Dutchman
