It depends on their birthdate, for example someone born in 2005 .. only people born after that would know them .. while someone born in 1905 would be known by people since that date or so to this day .. so it might seem that someone is more popular today but they are not compared to ancient figures.

Honestly I think Hitler and Einstein are probably the most well known people, to the common people. They're some of the only people whose names are used as synonyms for something (evil and intelligence).

hitler is only really super well known in the west. to a lot of us who grew up outside the west he’s just a fucked up guy. but westerners do love to assume the world revolves around them.

Ever since then, he often doesn't seem quite right in the head. Personally, I don't actually think it drove him crazy, but I do think that he intentionally leans into it for entertainment value.

Hitler is very popular, but only since the 1930's and 40's, whereas all the other contenders were popular for hundreds or even thousands of years across multiple generations of people.
The way this determines to my understanding is basically how much each name has been searched which makes it more biased against people you don’t typically do research on/look up
