Yes this is my first sponsored video as a #MTGAmbassador. Check out all the awesome legendary figures coming with Commander Masters using my unique link. bit.ly/CMMxAether
Aminatou is similar in that she can just perceive fate of herself and those around her. Unlike Guff however she can steer fates as she wants, and tends to do so for fun.
I love Guff! He's so funny and goofy, and makes the superfriends archetype worth playing and pay off. Cool to learn about his lore, which goes way back. Those old cards of him are nice.
Congratulations ambassador. I often find my relationship with the game is cyclical and every few sets I kinda check out. Your videos have had a huge influence on my always returning to the game.
Given how terrible the actual stories of MtG has been overall, I imagine Guff reading them as a character in such poorly written books had to have been depressing for him… “What is my purpose?” “You get me butter…”
I'd argue that Aminatou is the most powerful lore wise due to how she manipulates fate to her will and decided to activate her spark at the age of 8 because of a vision she had. This is also why I think Bolas didn't drag her in during the war of the spark, because if he had, she'd probably have had him wear a pink hat and apron and call himself mrs nezbit while having a tea party with her friends.
@@tylerkister4628basically yes. Think of the guy in Men in Black 3 who can see every outcome of every event but has no control of which will happen, except Aminatou can choose between them.
I've been waiting for my boi to be a card since I started playing and read the Invasion cycle. Can't wait to build this deck. Great video my friend keep it up.
It is also worth pointing out that J. Robert King, the writer of the Invasion cycle, based Guff on Scott McGough, the writer of several Magic novels and the leader of the Storyline Department at the time. (yes, I c/p this from the MtG fandom wiki)
I'm going to wait and see how the premade plays before I make a true evaluation of the card. Yes, it looks a bit weak compared to the other Commander Masters decks, but that doesn't mean it is bad.
I stopped playing Magic in 2019 but i do like to keep up with the lore which is why i love the Aetherhub and like to thank Sieben for all the lore videos his done. So thanks again Sieben for keeping me in touch with all the lore of Magic since i no longer play the game anymore and saved me the time from having to read all the articles and novels and comics.
@@AetherHub No thank you for all the content you have put out over the years. Been a subscriber of yours since 2016 and had gotten some of my friends to subscribe to your channel as well. I'd love to see you hit a million subscribers someday BECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT.
Man, I still remember you all but quitting RU-vid because of WotC's chain of horrible company decisions. What a comeback to now be an official ambassador.
So is the book Guff removed the ending with phyrexia winning the same text that tamiyo used when she tried to compleat kamigawa ? because she too was telling the world how phyrexia would win and the only thing preventing her was the wanderer
I'd love it if you did a video on Vronos. He's a character I liked alot and maybe cool to do a video on. I know his story will make people "lose there heads" over it.
The most Powerful character, although he doesn>'t seem like it, is Fblthp. He survives every big event without doing really doing anything. He is unkillable.
Not sure if she counts but isn't Aminatou also one of the most powerful characters since she can literally change fate. And didn't she forcibly accelerate her fate to become a planeswalker sooner rather than later as a child.
...idk seems kinda weak. 4 mana ramp only for walkers? Atraxa is better...a 5 color commander is better...they needed to give him something else...even if it was just a static of proliferate instead of only one other walker.
But nothing is as powerful as the sliver hive mind, which is now one since the omen paths and with the possible implications that grave mother can resurrect sliver queen watch out multiverse the hive mind is here.
Taysir of Rabiah is the strongest, but due to potential copyrights or something, Rabiah is non canon thus no Taysir Side note if you ever heard of the Rabiah scale, it comes from the fact Rabiah has 1% chance of being visited again
If Serra seems to be alive (in some way) at the end of MoM when she ascended Elspeth to archangel (and take in count that Serra was dead from Urza's Saga block), anything is possible...
Why didn’t he just planeswalk away when the death cloud showed up? I don’t buy it when Planeswalkers die without there being a reason as to why they can’t.
More so I think a great many powerful people including Planeswalkers died in that attack. In a story, you can’t just have Planeswalked away be every solution. Plus it takes “great concentration” to Planeswalk. Maybe they were all too stunned to act?
@@AetherHubweren’t too of the planeswalkers killed because Urza chose tevesh szat knowing he’d betray them so urza could use them to fuel soul bombs with an excuse it was morally fine since szat killed his allies(even though urza predicted and did nothing to stop him) just a reminder Urza’s a scummy dude I guess
why is that ? i've seen multiple people on youtube win with this deck out of the box , with upgrade (mainly putting the 3 version of teferi) it can also do an infinite combo...
@@AetherHubSorry, I don't care who the strongest is. I'm looking for fun and interesting characters. I'll be happy that we have our fifth Titan (card) 😁
@@AetherHub Yes it is, we can pull adobe audition if you want. Just bring the volume of your music, up to your taste of course but around 30% of the volume of your voice at the lowest. Should take about 20 seconds
I have a question, i was wondering are the comics even canon since they aren't written by wizards but by another company like Idw for an example. I think they are but some of my friends have said they are not canon in the lore but exist in another alternate universe/ reality like how the marvel or Dc movies are separate from the comics.
@@alfredvonfleisch I thought so. But my friends keep arguing because they aren't written by Wizards but by another company like IDW or Boom comics that makes them non canon lol.
The most recent ones from BOOM! Studios are not canon in the main storyline. The events in those comics don't add up with the rest of the lore. You can think them as an alternate universe or completely non-canon. It's the same thing, really. The previous IDW comics, with Dack Fayden as the protagonist are canon. The events are referenced in the Dack chapters of the War of the Spark novel. The old comics published by Armada are in a quantum state of canon and non-canon until they are referenced in the current storyline (some have been). The same goes for the first MtG novels.
@@Oneiromantisgr So it's like what my friends have been saying and telling me then ? They have said that the comics aren't canon to the main lore because they weren't written by Wizards and they exist in an alternative universe or reality. I'd always thought they were canon because although they weren't written by Wizards but other companies such as Boom studios or Idw that wizards commissioned these companies to make and write the comics for them. I don't know anymore. It's hard to keep track to what is canon or non canon these days and not just in magic but video games and so on. Because there are so many material out there nowadays from video games to movies and T.v shows to novels and comics lol.
I don't know if breaking the 4th wall is all that powerful, Because spiderman has done that before and we all know that spiderman is far from being Marvel's most powerful character lol. So i don't think breaking the 4th wall really means anything or makes you powerful. As for changing reality, well that can be done in several ways, For an example time travel is a way to change reality and just because you can time travel doesn't mean that your all powerful lol. When i was listening to gulf's story i was kinda disappointed and was expecting a lot more. Like him having god like powers or something. I mean how powerful is he really when he didn't really change anything because the phyrexians still won and not to mentioned he was killed and couldn't even save himself lol.
I mean he is not just breaking the 4th wall because the writers thaught it would be funny... He does it because he knows he is in a book himself and has read that book and could also rewrite that book. So if you think the guy who write a book is not the most powerfull entity of the book in question idk what to tell you. Imagine being tolkien in Lotr...
@@fixo5132 Yeah i get all that but how did that turn out for him ? He still failed and was killed. If he was truly that powerful he would had changed it to where he destroyed the phyrexians and still would be alive till this very day. I seen an anime where a normal guy became so powerful that he killed all the gods out of vengeance and destroyed the entire universe then recreated a brand new one lol.Now that's power. All because the gods ruined his life and took away everything he ever cared about. So he swore vengeance against the gods and began studying and learning all kinds of magic and became so powerful that even the gods where no match for him.
@@starknight2262 well guff could read the story you just told me about and decide he prefered to make the protagonist a worm… he knew he would die and just accepted it I guess.
@@fixo5132 I'll put it in another perspective so you'll understand what I'm trying to say. If Gulf was to get in a one on one battle with Nicol bolas ( before bolas lost his Planeswalkers spark ) who do you think would win ? The answer is Bolas. Bolas would have read gulf's mind and knew what his was capable of doing and used that to his advantage to win the battle. That's how cunning bolas really is. You think bolas would just sit there while gulf is reading the story and then trying to change it ? Not a chance in hell lol.
@@starknight2262 You are the one not understanding , if a bolas vs guff would have happened , guff would have known about it before end and would have accepted to die by him. All of that is HIS choice, that's power. If he didn't want to die, he could have changed bolas into a worm before anything would happen , because he knows about it. He is like an all knowing all powerfull being. His only weakness is his nonchalent attitude.
