I've been playing lots of sunny songs at the moment as I really am so happy to see that big shiny thing in the sky after so long.
But it occured to me that not everyone likes the sun and I thought of this song. Probably the sunniest song I know about not being a sun lover - a typical dry lyric from the ever inconic Lou Reed.
It can definitely be argued (and indeed I heard this being done so the other day) that The Velvet Underground are far the most influenctial band from the 60s if you look at how ground breaking their sound were. Yes the Beatles and Stones changed culture and the music was phenomenal but really a band trying to being avant garde or 'different' today are still faced with the challenge of topping the blueprint they made - there literally had never been anything like their sound or songwriting before!
What's your favourite VU song..?
