In Russian, his name is "Kamin", which LITERALLY means "a fireplace" (at home). The fact that he has these double meanings in both languages made me lose my sanity LMAO EDIT: In Korean too!
apparently his name is a meme in korean too. So at this point HYV intentionally memed him. which is funny, specially after Dr. "L get ratioed". we love a good sense of humor here.
I believe miHoYo has a translation issue here. The character's Chinese name is 嘉明, and their background is clearly related to Cantonese culture. In Cantonese or Min Nan, 嘉明 is pronounced 'GA-MING,' which might lead to misunderstandings among some native English speakers
@@Evitzeoshowerthoughts yeah , this is what I want to express. The use of 'GA' instead of 'JIA' in his translation is likely intended to emphasize his Cantonese cultural background
This dude was gonna get memed on one way or another. From a Cantonese name romanized to spell a word already in English, to the fact that he looks like Dan from Bakugan.
Meanwhile, Malaysian and Indonesian Genshin Players noticed that he resembles BoBoiBoy from the Malaysian cartoon with the same name so much that the official account noticed it as well 😂 (honestly the staff behind the series are just as big as otakus as mhy's are, there are Genshin players among them ww)
@@stellariumhoshiiro I'm Filipino, but I have heard of BoBoiBoy thanks to it being licensed to be shown in Disney Channel Asia, and now that you mention it... yeah, I can see that too.
Actually his name pronounced Ja-Ming. While the word is indeed Ga Ming, the EN localization delete the space between. I hope they won't change it though, since afaik every Chinese/ Liyue names in GI all don't have space between
Ja-ming is the Mandarin pronunciation. Gah-ming is the Cantonese pronunciation. Judging by his Lion Dance profession, it seems like he's meant specifically to be a nod to Cantonese culture, hence his name being Gaming rather than Jiaming. Also, Hu Tao and Yun Jin have spaced names. the vast majority of them do not, though.
Funny thing is, his outfit lights up in two different colors when he does the Wushou dance idle animation, either in orange or in blue, so he literally has RGB lights in his outfit. I find it hard to believe Hoyo didn’t know what they were doing with this dude.
His name in russian is written as "Ka min" which is the same as a russian word for "fireplace", just with a space in between This boy is all over the place
I could already tell his backstory was he was hypnotised by something like a game or just hypnotised and he never left his jail cell in years and once he came out all his past friends forgot who he is and he had to deal with bullying for not knowing how to socialise at all kinda like shenhe
