For your information the cuplers on the skid steer are high volume cuplers while the tractor cuplers are not high volume. The reason is most equipment on a skid steer require high volume hydraulic oil to operate.
@carterjames5385
@carterjames5385 4 года назад
Yes and no. SS uses hi flow hydraulics in most cases, depending on the pump it's equipped with. Tractor hydraulic pumps are often lower flow. The couplers depend on the threads at the hose's end. There are many different types of fittings that can be installed on various machines. Best to find out from the brand manufacturer what threads/fittings are used on their model/brand. Don't try to force a coupler or other fitting onto a threaded hose end unless you like leaks/trouble.
@pierregodin1668
@pierregodin1668 4 года назад
@@carterjames5385 I agree with you. The cuppler that i saw in the video is a high volume cuppler. Now for the threaded part, the same type of cuppler (tractor cuppler) can have pipe thread,JIC, or O-ring type. Yes as you said be careful what the type of thread is on the end of the hose or pipe. I had to fix an aluminum hydraulic manifold (three electric SCV valves) that the customer had inserted pipe thread in 0-ring type hole, that caused a major oil leak.

Great video. When you mentioned what to do with the old trees you could have mentioned the option of using a 3 point wood chipper and chipping the trees and then use the wood chips as a soil improver, especially effective if you have any manure to mix with it and form a fantastic compost. Maybe you could demonstrate a Woodmaxx MX-9900.

I have a JD 270 and a JD 5065E both with skid steer attachments for everything on my farm. Just so you know, you can buy a conversion set of couplers to attach agriculture hydraulic fittings to a skid steer. I bought them so I can keep all implements with the same hydraulic fittings and can use on both tractor or skid steer whenever I want without having to change them. Love the videos!

Vise grips, be sure to pull the handle angle the direction it needs tightened or loosened, when you put them on backward the jaws get stretched the wrong way my friend. backward pushes the jaw open, correctly it pulls them tighter. Tools are your friend so treat them correctly!

Since you are using the implements on both machines you should make adapter hoses for each machine. One set the stays with the tractor and another set for the skid steer. That way you do not have to swap the connectors each time. The adapter hose only needs to be 6 to 10 inches long.

I hope you got solid tires or you're going to fill the tires because if you don't you'll come out one day and have a flat tire and then it's an all-day event fixing a flat. You said you're getting new tires for the skid steer. I only used older tires with the tracks because you can tear up near tires with the tracks.

Looks like a useful attachment for certain situations. Not a fan of the lack of control for felling direction on upright trees though. Kinda think the hydraulic fittings on the cylinder that runs the shear are a little susceptible to damage. See 12:35 or so for how they could get damaged. Anyway, pretty neat!

Pipe thread, jic, o ring, and oring boss are the most common all the threads are different with the exception of jic and o ring are very similar in a pinch if u need an o ring fitting u can use a jic and slip an oring on it. It works but does slightly damage the threads but gets u outa a pinch
