Who opened the drapes in the bedroom? Some questions remain unanswered in The Godfather II. In addition to finding out who killed the gunmen, no one knows who was the inside man that opened the drapes. In the movie, the answer is never revealed. However, this is a question worth exploring.

I'm anticipating some comments in the video. Yes, I left the question unanswered on purpose because I want your answers. It's the question that I've always wanted to address. Here are my final thoughts "In conclusion, I was certain that it was Fredo, but now it’s 50/50 because if we believe that it was him who drew the drapes, this means all the scenes where we felt that he was sincere lose their value, meaning that his last words were lies? That’s why I’m not 100% sure anymore, but if we believe that it wasn’t him, this means that this scene in particular loses its value because it’s either inaccurate or hardly believable that someone else did it."

I always assumed that it was Rocco. I drew that conclusion when he agreed to go on that suicide mission to kill Roth. A self sacrifice for betraying the family.

My opinion is that Rocco's being the inside man makes more sense, because Michael sent him to his death, It's more like “Kill two birds with one stone”.

I don't think it was Rocco. Look at it this way, if Rocco had betrayed Michael, would Michael trust him to take out Roth? I doubt it. Besides, in the early scripts to The Godfather Part 3, Rocco didn't die after taking out Roth, he ended up going back and being in Michael's caporegime. There's NO way Michael would allow that if he knew Rocco had betrayed him.

Fredo open the drapes. When he claim he was told it was going to be a kidnapping he informed them how toget to Mike bedroom .Possible how to enter the compound without being notice. And how did the intruders know how to escape through freedom room.

It was somebody who was obviously comfortable walking into the bedroom without fear of being caught and not causing suspicion which only three people come to mind Fredo which i highly doubt Rocco or Al we will never know the answer to that question.

I am believing more and more that Fredo KNEW exactly what he was doing and he intended it. Especially with all the red flags and verbal hints he gives in the Cuba conversation "Why didn't we spend time like this before, Mike?" Or "I'm your older brother, and i got stepped over!" He knew it was gonna be a hit and he didn't feel bad at first, since he felt disrespected and embarrassed by Michael, and the whole Mike treating him like a child in the Moe Greene scene. I think Fredo is a lot more devious than we might think. He's no Michael but he's a Corleone. The whole Deanna thing might have been part of the distraction. Fredo, Deanna and Rocco. How about if Fredo is hiding it in plain sight "I'm smart, not dumb, like everybody says!!"? Almost like he's telling Michael "I almost got you, how dumb can I be?" Maybe a stretch, but I can tell you from experience, people will often confess, warn or threaten you in those subtle ways. Once again, showing how much "smarter" they are than you or as some form of catharsis for their guilt, a rationalized "kind of a" confession or even mockery. Depending on the scenario. I don't know, just saying. Resentment like that runs DEEP!

@@DonRamiro1 Oh, actually Michael did not try to kill Frank Pentangeli, it was Rosatto Brothers who had the orders from Hyman Roth. Hyman Roth wanted revenge for the assassination of his protege Moe Green, and wanted to get rid of his biggest competitor, or 'partner' as he called it.
@robertbusek30
@robertbusek30 Год назад
@@DonRamiro1I don’t think Michael knew that for certain at the time. Sure, he suspected that Roth was his main enemy, but that assassination attempt might not be connected with the Cuba deal at all, especially given Pentangeli being angry at him earlier in the evening. Michael’s feeling out Pentangeli here, watching how he reacts to his “loss of temper,” a rare occurrence indeed. He wants to know if Pentangeli is another “problem” that needs to be handled.

Well Fredo said in the phone call that the hitmen were supposed to "scare Michael". Which means he had to know about the window thing; however, the death of the hitmen had to come from the getaway guys. I say getaway guys, because there's no way to sneak in and out of there without a getaway plan. Fredo knew the security routes and most likely knew a blind spot in them. They set up a meeting with the second half of their team and that's when their throats were slit. One guy couldn't have gotten the drop on two assassins that are together. So the theory is that there were four guys that went in and only two made it out to tell Roth. I agree with Michael on his people. Al is Michael's Luca, his loyalty is unquestioned. Michael made Rocco a secret Capo back in Part 1, and had him build a new regime in the shadows to prep for the assassination of the 4 Dons. Neither of them would benefit from killing Michael. The Corleone interest in Vegas wasn't as criminal oriented as their NY operations. Would they do it for the money or power? I doubt it. They were most likely making more money than Clamenza or Tessio ever did, they were probably making more than Frank and he was an Underboss. Power? I also doubt it. Their interests in Vegas was strictly financial investment and control of a casino or two. They went with Michael willingly and knew the end goal for the Family and themselves was a legitimate life. There'd be more money in that than there was with their current one, plus less stress of life or death situations. Either of them betraying Michael was a long shot.

Hell, at one time Vito Coleone's men had to sneak into Jack Wolt's stables; silently kill his prized uber valuable stallion and severe his head. Then sneak it into Wolt's mansion; know which one of the several bedrooms he sleep in regularly and sneak in while he slept. Then sneak the head into the bed, under the silk sheets at Wolt's feet without disturbing him; all without leaving a blood trail to or from the bed and sneak out again! In comparison sneaking into a bedroom as a woman slepted; silently open the curtains and sneaking back out is child's play! And of course even easier, they can drug a racist Senator, brutally kill the prostitute he was with then wait for him to wake up and panic is nothing!

I've thought for some time, that Rocco and Fredo's wife pulled this off. I think only a woman could have risked going into Kays bedroom, if seen she could have dropped any excuse, a man no way. 2nd. If Neri wasn't the inside threat, that leaves Rocco. He was head of compound security btw. Finally, i think he was piping Fredo's wife, because Fredo certainly wasn't eg. Rocco carrying her off drunk at the dinner. There is no way Roth would counted an Fredo to pull off the hit and both hitmen had their throats cut, no doubt by people thy trusted. Rocco.

It should be clear to anybody the one that opened the drapes is the same one that took out Roth in the end getting killed in the process, and that's Rocco Lampone, the same fellow who Clemenza brought on at the beginning of the first movie to take out Paulie. That's why Michael had Rocco to kill Roth might have been executed as a traitor in front of Tom Hagen if he refused...

@Silly81
@Silly81 Год назад
Let me just say that I love this video, I always questioned this scenario and the possibilities of who were the suspects. Hell I even came to the conclusion that it was indeed Rocco at one time. However I now disagree that it was Rocco because it would’ve been giving credence to Michael’s overall paranoia at the end of the movie. If not paranoia, disappointment and resentment of Rocco for failure in both protecting him and his family plus not keeping the assassins alive sending him off on a suicide mission. Who do I think was responsible? It’s not rocket science, the answer was very simple, it was Johnny Ola with a little assistance from Fredo. Fredo obviously gave Ola the layout of the estate. As far as who physically opened the drapes, my theory is that it was either one of the assassins or a “maid” planted on the estate by Ola.

I've always thought Roth's hit men committed suicide once they realized the attempt on Michael's life failed and they were being pursued. If they were captured by the Corleones they would have doubtless met a slow and gruesome fate. Likewise if they somehow made it back to Roth, or tried to escape altogether with Roth's men catching up with them eventually anyway. Either way they were dead men.
