I don’t play drums but I love these two guys so much. I’d say that from a pure technical standpoint, Dave is definitely stronger. But then again, Lars’ drums on And Justice for all and the Black Album is just so good. That is also the problem when we compare musicians : should we compare technique or the whole package ? I play the guitar and from a pure technical perspective, Kurt Cobain is not impressive (compared to Kirk Hammett and Hetfield for example) But then again, he has his style and it is still damn efficient. Good video!
Lars: stylistically better, groove 'n' feel-wise...also more unique for his strange cymbal placements and off-kilter fills. Lombardo: better in technicality, by a mile, with heaps of precision, aggression and muscle. Saw him with Mr. Bungle this year...wow. Guess it's down to who you prefer as an individual. IMO....(as a fellow metal drummer).
Is this even a question? & Lombardo is good & all, but the godfather of the double he ain't. Many others were already doin it before slayer even got up & rollin
