WHO Say Remdesivir Doesn't Work??

The World Health Organization just published a paper over the weekend stating that one of the main treatments for inpatient COVID-19 patients doesn't actually work. Remdesivir was granted emergency use from the FDA earlier this year for the treatment of inpatient COVID-19 patients based on a small preliminary study, which was then backed up with a larger study confirming a 5 day benefit of symptoms. Since then it has been one of the main drugs used for inpatient COVID-19. Well late last week the WHO published a study of over 11,000 patients, stating that Remdeivir does not actually work as the previous studies have shown. In ADDITION, RU-vid has put a statement saying they will censor any videos that provide "MISINFORMATION" about COVID-19 vaccines. My question for everyone is, how does youtube know what is misinformation when the WHO and the NEJM cannot agree on Remdesivir? Interesting times my friends.

From the thumbnail I thought it was like, “who said remdesivir doesn’t work?” But the title made me realize it was the world health organization. Caps are fun

I got sick for one day, went to the hospital and was positive, they gave me four doses of remdesivir in two days, now I'm home recovering with no symptoms at all... I'm on the 7th day of recovery now. So I'm guessing this worked, and I got a compromised immune system on top of that...

Wow I'm really surprised. We just finished our Virology block in Med school and when we had our Corona lecture, our prof told us this works because it blocks RNA-dependent RNA polymerase ~ Which is what all 3 Coronaviridae use (SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, & SARS-CoV-2)...oh well, time to get my points back for my last test hehe!

Damn man. Kind of blew my mind at the end. That’s a great point. If the medical community (myself included) have no clue what’s going on, then where the hell is FB getting it’s info from.

People have questioned this and it IS clearly political. As a side note, I find it funny that even though all the people and organizations you cited know it takes time to draw a conclusion, all of them think their position/conclusions are correct.

Did anyone do the math? It said as of May 2020, 100,000 people died out of 1,678,843 cases in the US. That is a .059 percent mortality rate. Any death is tragic, but we’re all going to die… We’ve had this whole fiasco over a very low mortality rate. If it were something like 60% or as low as say, 20%, with people dropping dead in the streets, I might be worried, but this has been so blown out of proportion. I’m assuming the mortality rate is different now in November 2021, but it’s still very low.

Interesting video! Would enjoy more discussion of current health news and the research behind them. You'll find the data on mortality from the NEJM trial within table 2. One of the findings that stood out to me was the difference in mortality over the entire study depending on what score the candidates were assigned at baseline. Those with a score of 5 did significantly better on remdesevir than placebo (hazard ratio 0.30 (0.14-0.64)). It's a shame that the study wasn't able to obtain a significant result for overall mortality and just missed out by a .04 CI (11.4% with remdesivir and 15.2% with placebo by day 29 (hazard ratio, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.52 to 1.03). Another important point is that the remedesevir group had less serious adverse events due to respiratory failure, although I don't see them having run an analysis on this as to its statistical significance.

This is all very interesting to consider. As far at the information regulation occurring on social media sites, I feel as if that banning is primarily regarding blatant information that is widely agreed upon in the scientific and medical community, right?

In addition to the my last comment, I really like the frankness of the physician. I agree, how about we use science, Not allow politics to treat our patients? Most politicians could not tell you the difference between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. So why again would I listen to them ?
