When Gatherer comments were still a thing, one of my all-time favorites was on Sharding Sphinx. *Stuffy butler voice* Sir, I do believe your Sphinx just sharded.
This is/was my favourite decktype. I dont think white brings here anything. Black is better: Baleful Strix from agent is premium removal compared to cascading into swords. Black also clears answers for NO with discards better than white. Noble hierarch producing blue or green is good enough. I also think Ancestral Visions is still good. I tested ten games with NO Shardless BUG with 4 x Ancestral Visions vs Jeskai Control that had 4 x Narset + 3 x Teferi to stop cascades/visions. Scored 5-5. This deck has creatures to pressure planewalkers and with black you have discard and emergency Abrupt Decay. It was rare that my visions didnt resolve correctly. Goyfs are bad.
38:59 They played plow in game one so I think you have to let karn resolve. As long as archon is in play, its only ability is to make grindstone a 1/1. As long as you have force, I can't think of a way for them to remove archon.
R4G1 you could have waited on the wasteland, run out goyf, with wasteland mana up for daze. Maybe end up with goyf in play and get to waste them anyway if they don't daze. Point is I don't come here to see you not play around daze :P
I feel like this deck really, really wants 4 FoN in the sideboard. The blue targeting spells (forgot the name) do very little againat storm, reanimator and other combo decks. Also having that Archon maindeck seems a lot better than the Progenitus which really only shines against certain fair decks. On the other side hitting instants or sorceries wins the game against what feels like 80%+ of the Legacy deck. Even Elves want their sorceries badly. The only deck that comes to mind that doesn't struggle is Death and Taxes.
i love combo midrange and combo control, this is super up my alley. also wondering if rug to play dead//gone makes any sense since shardless doesnt see it and it answers murktide and merit lage. obviously without swords as the only removal its clock is a lot quicker too
I'm struggling to understand the logic in game two of round one. Naming "sorcery" does stop Burning Wish, Tendrils, Ponder, and Thoughtseize... but are any of those really that relevant at that point? You have to expect he's brought in additional ways to interact with disruption you've included in the post-board games, which I have to imagine is why he had Echoing Truth in the deck (fairly confident that isn't a maindeck card most of the time). The only conceivable ways he can interact with Archon are instants, right? And all of his rituals and interactive spells are instants as well, so he's going to have a helluva time getting a lethal Tendrils going when he can't even get Archon off the table; not to mention he only has maximum four turns to figure out how to win, mostly just raw-dogging off the top of the library during that time. It seems like you probably came to this same conclusion right as you selected "sorcery", with your statement about Chain of Vapor coming immediately afterward and perhaps you address this after the game; I just paused right after the Echoing Truth to make this comment. **EDIT** Thirty seconds later you say you're going to name "instant" with Archon moving forward, lol. I figured that was going to be the case 😅
It’s not ideal but I guess path to exile next to swords to plowshares would still work. It ramps them but it’s that or making them gain life. Neither seem ideal but prismatic ending whiffs so it’s maybe the next best option.
At 1:15:44 I noticed that casting Teferi didn't even come into the discussion. I was curious why not? (I play maverick and taxes so I'm really biased toward looking for permanent-based solutions, and also biased because I'm a spectator who can analyze this situation without any time constraints)
If I cast Teferi there I lose the double counter for the turn. Of course I’d rather play a game with Teferi in play, but my read on that game was wanting 2 counters up. Drawing the blue card the following turn gives me Teferi with 2 counter backup, I would have gone for that then but they conceded
It's a weird request but is there a way to do a record tracker on screen like most streamers do? Often times I stick you on in the background and when I look back I have 0 idea where you are at in the league and how you have been doing.
That’s on my list of “nice to have” features that will happen as soon as I get life balanced out but isn’t essential with the limited time I have right now.
In Round 3 you could've killed your own Hearse with Boseiju in response to the Petty Theft ... Boseiju doesn't say a permanent an opponent controls like Assassin's Trophy does.
No it actually does say that. Channel - {1}{G}, Discard Boseiju, Who Endures: Destroy target artifact, enchantment, or nonbasic land an opponent controls. That player may search their library for a land card with a basic land type, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle. This ability costs {1} less to activate for each legendary creature you control.
Why not maybe a collector ouphe over null rod out of the board ? Is a NO fodder and endurance or is not being able to green sun for it make it not worth ?
Kind of interesting play at 1:24:10 , I'd just run out the Boseiju and keep the fetch for whatever colours I may need down the line. You seem to just skip over that option and play + crack the fetch immediately, and then debate which land to get. I guess you value Boseiju a lot higher in the dark than I do, or was this just an automatic play and/or without any proper consideration?

kinda sad, that you dismiss the natural order plan in most of the games. i.e. in the show and tell game 1, the progenitus wouldve easily raced grisselbrand. wouldve liked to see more archon action as well.
With Uro and Endurence in the format goyf fell out of favor but now that Uro is much less of a visible presence and with shredder being a big new creature that interacts well with it, I feel like goyf is probably due a resurgence in bant or sultai lists. If murktide gets banned somehow I foresee a real resurgence in popularity.
46:52 I'm confused here. You think mystical dispute is better than force? Like why sub out a free hard counter for a non-free soft counter? I would understand if you wanted to side in MORE counters, but I don't understand this. Also, you just lost game 1 because you were on the fence with no flying blockers. Why not put in Archon? Frankly I would want Archon and Prog in the deck. For offense or defense depending on where you wind up. That said, going -1 natural order seems reasonable even brining in the Archon since it can be hard casted
Force is a long way from free. Dispute is a 1-for-1 while force is 2 for 1, and you get to 3 for hard casting much faster than 5. Dispute is a better answer in this matchup. Boarding in a “payoff” in Archon that is smaller than any average size Murktide does not solve the matchup’s problems. I don’t want to NO at all (another 2 for 1) but if I find a window it has to win (Progenitus)
50:34 More confusion. You start pulling ahead, see a natural order with the ability to cast it the following turn and aren't interested? Hearse does work but the second one over NO feels too cute. You would've had them dead a turn earlier without it being a nail biter (prob a straight concession)
I should say I watch your channel bc it's the tightest play on YT. Not trying to be a hater just genuinely perplexed. And as you might imagine, watching the punt streams of the more fast and loose types is painful for me lol
