Ballo ft percentage scares me off..6th year of college coming up and he hasn't figured that part of his game out yet!?!..he will get fouled alot at UNC!!
Wish he would stay, but Ian Jackson and Drake Powell are very good and Seth unlikely to get more PT next year unless Cadeau or RJ leave, or he transforms into a 40% 3pt shooter in volume attempts. I expect Ingram to return as he loves UNC, is only a second rounder in mock drafts (no guaranteed NBA contract), and is likely to significantly increase NIL $$ due to his personality and Bacot being gone. I think RJ has a tougher decision as it will be difficult for him to improve on his accomplishments this season being first team All-American, ACC POY, and getting his jersey in the rafters. However, the NBA is unlikely due to his size and NIL $$ will be similar to overseas money. I think he stays and becomes Carolina’s all time leading scorer. If he scores the exact number of points that he did this season (784) added to his 2088 career points, he will tie Tyler Hansbrough with 2872 career points!
We need Stanford big man Maxime Raynaud - 7’1” 250 lbs. with high level skills. 15.5 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 36% from 3 pt. on 2 attempts per game - about right for a big, don’t want him falling in love with the three. Check him out on RU-vid, fairly rugged and pretty quick with good hands and feet.
Scares me because I think if we go get a guy like Bradshaw or Ballo then I think JWash might leave. But if you get Wolf then JWash probably stays with a good backup behind him. Going to be interesting to see if Hubert kind of recruits over JWash or if he wants him to be the next star big at UNC.
Bradshaw did not play at all down the stretch his lone good game outside of UNC was against Arkansas, other than that he got physically beat every time and struggled to out rebound centers.
I get your point about Wolf guarding Flagg but I don't think we should be playing defense in the portal - we should be playing offense. As in, let's worry about our team versus trying to find players who match up well against our opponents. I like Bradshaw as a prospect but I am still all in on JWash starting and getting Bacot minutes. I think he has so much potential.
I absolutely agree with you! Thankfully with Wolf (seemingly a target for Hubert) he will be able to provide both. He’s a sizable body defensively, and a scorer offensively. I personally want JWash to get the starting because I also believe his potential is up there. He needs to get a bit stronger and quicker defensively and I think he will be a fantastic center!
Who is "we"? It is hilarious how UNC fans use the word "we" without any meaningful contribution to what happens on the basketball court. Most UNC fans are couch potatoes living vicariously through the UNC men's basketball team.
No way man Elliot comes back he is starting 1 and I feel Rj comes back well be solid again at backcourt with Ian Jackson first off bench for RJ or at the 3 and Drake . 2 top 10 5 stars. I'd like to see ballo at the 5 personally
Assuming Harrison Ingram and RJ Davis are gone is a bad opening assumption. Ingram hasn't been a first rounder in any mock drafts and is unlikely to go unless he is. RJ may be ready to move on from college, but financially he stands to make as much from NIL by staying as would playing oversees. What Ingram and Davis decide has a HUGE impact on needs for next year. Ian Jackson and Drake Powell will cover the hole left by Cormac Ryan and Paxton Wojcik, and now Seth Trimble. Hubert will likely target an experienced perimeter shooter from a mid-major program as freshmen rarely shoot well from 3. Otherwise, the backcourt looks good as long as Elliott and RJ return. Bacot leaves a big hole in the front court with Jalen Washington the obvious choice to fill it. I think Jalen improved tremendously on defensive awareness and offensive aggression, however, unless he shows substantial additional improvement by the start of next season, this position goes from a team positive to a push. Coach Davis will likely bring someone in from the portal with Maxime Raynaud from Stanford being my top choice. I think we need a 5 with skills not just size and brawn like Oumar Ballo from Arizona. With Raynaud on the team, Jalen Washington can play the 4 or 5, giving Carolina a big lineup with Raynaud at 5, Washington at 4 and Ingram or Powell at 3. If he stays, I expect Withers to execute better in UNC's defensive schemes after a year with the team enabling him to play more minutes and contribute more offensively especially in he regains his shooting touch from 3.
You really underestimate how good Bacot was this year, particularly on defense. His ability to switch onto guards and keep them contained was next level. He will be hard to replace on that end. He generally drew a double team in the post, and boxed out the opposing center which helped Ingram get so many boards. The only two centers that I can think of who were better this year were Edey and Clingan. A better center isn't out there, but a good center will do fine.
Hubby got us a 1 seed and ACC reg champion, you are wild for not realizing this is the new college with nil and transfer options. Ppl will be moving every yr, get used to it
Doesn't matter who we get because Hubert is still here!! Again, I can't say it enough,,,, "HUBERT DAVIS SUCKS""!!!! Single handedly lost everything we had to gain for 3 seasons by the completely making all the wrong moves when we need a coach that could coach a big game!! And I don't care what anyone says,,, Hubert is the single one person that lost the Alabama game!! Who the crap knows what the "F" Hubert was thinking in this game??? Anyways, unless we can get a new Head Coach from the portal, we still have Hubert and that's enough said!! Just saying!! Have a great day!!
On the flip side of this coin Davis is the Acc coach of the year Led this team to the acc regular season county losing three conference games while sweeping their biggest rival in duke. This is Davis third year coaching and has been to the national championship game and the sweet sixteen. If you follow plus minus at all then Elliott and Trimble were both negative and Paxton actually had a positive rating. Coach Davis still doesn’t have a team that is all the players that he has recruited. The coach for duke has yet to reach the title game. Would you rather have that guy?
