This really did happen. The boy amazingly survived that day as Goeth was merely amused and started chuckling before telling everyone to get back to work. The boy would end up surviving the Holocaust entirely as he was a "Schindler Jew." That's how we know this story as ole Goeth... shall we say ... wasn't available for interviews... Schindler as the film presents him wasn't a real person and the book was a fiction novel. The movie is based off of this fiction novel. None of these events or people are real. It's a very egregious dramatisation of history with near zero basis in fact.

The most horrifying thing about Schindler’s List is that Fiennes’ Amon Göth was actually dialed *back* for the movie. Göth was so evil in reality that it was feared he would appear almost cartoonish to a viewer.

I read that a holocaust survivor who was at this very concentration camp during WW2 who served as an advisor for the movie, when meeting the actor who played this brutal camp commandant, was visibly shaking and it brought back horrible memories, as a result of his amazing portrayal of this evil SS Officer.

I was 9 years old when I saw this movie. It was broadcast primetime on broadcast television, unedited. Should definitely be played again. But instead, we have Americas top bachelorette. 30 women acting like a slu……. You know what I’m trying to say

Guy was going to jail for fraud/embezzlement and instead of going peacefully he was a broken man already so he took a revolver out of a manila envelope, put the barrel in his mouth, and pulled the trigger. As soon as he hit the ground so much blood was pouring out of his nose, it was like a literal faucet of blood turned on. Exactly like in this video. Sign of a good actor: makes you temporarily forget you are viewing a film and evokes intense hatred or love of their character. My only quibble with Fiennes's portrayal of Goeth was really beyond his control; Fiennes is a very handsome man, the real Goeth was not a good looking man.
Have you watched DOWNFALL? That is also another very well made film. Not only is it matter of fact, like a documentary, it shows the "human" side to the top nazis (yes, I know how unpleasant that sounds, but bear with me) and it shows them not as these strong, tough people, but weak and feeble who fall to pieces when their own evil comes back at them. You can even feel sorry for the poor, failed hitler (yes... that's what the producers wanted, to show how easily people can be drawn into it) and then you remember "that's fecking hitler, what a bastard..." But that's the point- it wants to show how easily you can be drawn in.
It's happening right now in our own country if you don't stop listening to those idiots in the White House we need to take back our country before they take us
