I think what's worse is that the Council knew something was blatantly suspicious about the army as a whole, yet still decided to work with them. If anything, if they all did what Kota did and worked with militias, while the Republic specifically used the Clones, that would've had a fundamentally different effect.

Rahm Kota was a vastly underrated Jedi. The fact that the guy never got a solo novel or comic detailing his time in the Clone Wars or appearing in TCW for an episode or two is not only a missed opportunity but a crime on the writers.

True, although technically he's not Canon given his time is spent only in the non-canon games. Still, definitely could've canonized him. Perhaps he meets one Clone or a few who took their chips out like our Main Clone group, and those may be the only ones he trusts and respects. Seeing him actually make contact and conversation with a Clone would've been great

If during his youth Kota had somehow awakened himself to the Force, then Mace and the council might have thought that leaving him in a war zone would inevitably lead him to the Dark Side on his own. They probably thought better late than never to start training him in the ways of the Jedi, choosing the possibility that he could become a fallen Jedi over the certainty that he would become a dark warlord, like Ventress.

I think that the Jedi order pre-clone wars should have done was to have a set of assignments that the order could have sent Jedi on to act like pressure valve. Windu enjoyed combat, but channeled that passion into creating a new lightsaber form. If there could have been a way for experienced Jedi, like Windu, to take Jedi who were close to the dark side, to more secret or aggressive missions. They may have not lost so many Jedi to the dark side. The key would be to have them teamed up with someone who understands their feelings, like Windu and I must imagine Plo koon as well. That way they can learn to see the light side as the answer to all their frustrations. Obi-wan never dealt with/struggled with the feeling like you need to do something. Where you are going to be obsessed about something until you can make some progress. I think that is 1 reason that Anikin fell. That and the force itself knew that the clone wars Jedi were as bad as the sith when it came to following the will of the force, so they needed to be eliminated

Okay, the dude gets a major point by the fact that in Legends his choices not only allowed him to survive, but basically created an early Rebel Alliance cell which got experience in war during the Clone Wars. I wouldn’t be surprised if his cell in legends was one of the most successful. Heck, they may have even had minimal casualties thanks to their experience and unique leadership in the form of a Jedi General. However I wonder what his personal opinions of the clones are. His basis for not leading clones was because he didn’t trust them. Now this doesn’t say anything about him looking down on them like Imperials as the circumstances of the clones clearly would raise eyebrows. A Jedi made the order for the clones in secret and just happened to be killed the same year which was also the year when the first Sith remerged and killed a Jedi? And the first generation of clones just happen to be ready only a few years after the CIS is created and just when it’s revealed they have a droid army. Suspicion is completely justified. However the fact that he doesn’t have a single clone in his unit does suggest his personal opinions of clones aren’t good. Sure, he doesn’t trust him but the fact he doesn’t have at least one trooper in his unit? And the fact that he doesn’t trust the clones, but does nothing on the matter? After all it was Fives who actually discovered the chips and their true purpose and it was thanks to him that the Jedi looked further into the army’s origins, though they still made some wrong moves. Overall, I be wrong to not praise the Jedi for surviving Order 66 because of his wits and for how he basically created a Rebel Cell years before the Empire was created. However as a clone lover, I question if his feelings about the clones were really as professional as Legends claims or if he didn’t see them as people worthy of respect. This would end up putting one of the most heroic Jedi and Rebel leaders in a bit of a mindset like Imperials such as Tarkin and Rampart, though thankfully this would be the only ideological similarity between Kota and the Imperials.
@Chaotic_Jackal
@Chaotic_Jackal 2 года назад
If I recall correctly Proxy mentions during his briefing on Kota in the Force Unleashed that he thought the clones inferior to regular men and woman in both tactical reasoning (it’s an army of one guy so no diversity of thought or ability to think of unique solutions to problems) and motivation (people with a stake in the war would naturally fight harder and more viciously then any vat grown Clone to protect their homes and loved ones.) Also it’s worth keeping in mind that this was back in Legends before the The Clone Wars show humanized the Clone troopers. Prior to that they where largely just stoic figures fought and died under the Jedi on mass with very little time or thought given to them or their personalities.

@@Chaotic_Jackal True. Only special forces clones in Legends had development before Canon came around. And when the unit was likely first formed, it was still in the early months of the war as everyone was getting used to the idea of the Republic having Jedi Generals again as well as a new clone army. Honestly I say it was around the Battle of Christophsis that the majority of the clones were inspired by the Jedi to stand out in their own ways such as painting their armor and taking names, though there were a few exceptions before it became an unofficial general rule in the army such as Cut, Slick, Rex, Cody, and the Domino Squad. Honestly if the Jedi Order did one thing right about the clones, it was making sure one of their own was watching over them in training. Guys like the Domino Squad would otherwise be terminated and the building of relations between clones and Jedi probably wouldn't go as well. Though I still wonder why they chose Shaak Ti. Surely there were several other options as good as her and why devote a Jedi Master to the homefront in a massive galaxy-wide war? Not saying it was a bad decision, I'm just wondering how they reached it. I know Geetsly already did a video on individual Jedi moralities including Shaak Ti, but it would be nice to see him do a video explaining why she was the one sent to Kamino during the war. Anyways, while I feel Kota might have some darker reasons not to like clones, the current reasons Legends presented certainly do make sense, especially under the circumstances. Still, I bet his opinion on the clones just grew lower when the price of their creation drained money from the civilian sector. Actually if anything, I wonder if Kota's perspective on the clones is the type most citizens had of them: Simply living machines with no real stake in the war.

So quick note you have to remember rahm kota was written prior to the plot point of the inhibitor chips existence. At that point in time the clones reason for betraying the Jedi upon the issuing of order 66 was purely due to loyalty to the republic over any loyalty to the Jedi there was no microchip involved in it . So rahm kota's distrust of the clones was proven right mainly because of their loyalties. If the inhibitor chip plot point was included in the canon of the force unleashed then it would have been pretty interesting to have rahm meet with a clone that had no inhibitor chip though

That's a good question. Tbh I think Kota would be distrustful of the 501'st Leigon, but at the same time he wouldn't purposely try to put Rex and his men in deadly situations. Rahm Kota is my absolute favorite Jedi and I think he is the best Jedi of all time. His character development is great! From a proud general of the Republic, to an Rebel Commander, a broken man and at the end, a hero of the Rebelion. So I think that Rahm Kota is a underrated character and I think that he becames a Jedi. The reasons are simple, Rahm Kota was as child forced into a civil war. He last his entire family, was forced to fight as a child soldier... And in all this time he didn't fall to the dark side. We all actually know, that the most characters would and that's the point where Kota makes sense to became a Jedi at the age of eighteen. As a child soldier he must learnd that attachments in a war are really dangerous and so his only attachments based on respect for the soldiers who fight side by side with him. So as Mace Windu finds him I think he was actually a little bit sceptical of Kota. But this man has no attachments, he is really disciplined and he has combat experience. He goes through a bloody and moderous war without falling to the dark side. I know this is really speculative, but in my head Canon it makes in this way more sense

Maybe they took him in as a way to see if early intervention in troubled force sensitives could potentially help curb a path to the Dark Side back towards the Light Side of the Force? Tempering the internal horror before it led the boy to discover what he could do in the worst backdrop possible. Yes young force sensitives are awakened to their potential by older, trained force sensitives (Jedi and possibly Sith) in the modern galactic age, but SURELY it can’t be impossible for a Force Sensitive to tap into their innate potential without it being unlocked by another Force Sensitive? If it was only possible to be open to the Force by being awakened by an older person who in turn had to be awakened as a youngling, then the Force could NEVER have been discovered by any species.

My theory on why they trained him is that he was quite strong in the Force without knowing it and was in danger of falling to the dark side. They kept him close at hand in order to nip a potential problem in the bud. Their justification for breaking the age and emotional turmoil rules could be that it was a way to bring him inner peace and understanding of himself. Rather than have him as a weak enemy, they wanted to make him an ally.

And then he saved Doom and got his chip out later so the pair could help the Nosaurians fight against the Empire, but then they all lose to the 501st when Vill shows up, but after saving what few Nnosaurains survived from slavery, and getting the chips out a few of Doom's Clones, Dass, Doom, Bomo, a few of Doon's Clones, Dass's personal Astromech, and the Medical Droids they used to get the chips out, all start roaming the galaxy fighting the Empire where ever they can. I feel Kota could most definitely still be canonized by altering his backstory a bit and even aiding Saw Gurerra’s Partisans in the background before “mysteriously” going MIA around 3BBY. Then it could lead to Starkiller (albiet weaker in canon) to be in the canon as well with a more background role
@VerdantJedi
@VerdantJedi 2 года назад
That's what I was thinking! In my free time, I'm trying to see if I can come with a new timeline that perfectly combines certain elements of the current cannon and the EU, retain the iconic characters like Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Ahsoka Tano and of course Rahm kota and Starkiller, while fixing all the discrepancies of the EU so as to not use the sequel trilogy timeline at all... I'm trying to master some graphic and animation skills so that I may one day be able to tell that story in that format...
@VerdantJedi
@VerdantJedi 2 года назад
Wait... I just figured out how to make Kota work. Mace recruiting him at 18 certainly doesn't fit into the canon tapestry, considering Anakin almost got rejected at age 9. The canon of George's 6 films must be adhered to, always... So give Kota a traditional Jedi background where he was inducted as a small child like any other jedi, then throw him into 2 of the clone wars story arcs, particularly where the clone's inhibitor chip malfunctioned and the Onderon conflict where we first saw Saw Guerera. This will develop his character towards the Kota that we all know in the force unleashed. 1. For the inhibitor chip incident, Kota will witness the death of his padawan, Falon Grey at the hands of a defective clone. This will stir him to question his existing suspicions of the clone army and decides not to work alongside clones. 2. Kota resolving the conflict at Onderon, would not only gained him an alliance with Saw, but an opportunity to recruit his own personal militia that would become the precursor of the rebel army, leading towards the force unleashed storyline.

A way to properly canonize Starkiller is simply making him a Sith Assassin in the same way Sidius train Maul. With Vader planning to make him his Apprentice after overthrowing Sidius. Star Killer then proceeds to follow the same path until he joins up with Kota's forces in the Rebel Allience.

Maybe he would work with Saw for a few years before both would fall out from their ways, both be extreme but maybe Kota's influence my corrupted Saw's ideas, becoming more extreme then he is, which leads them spliting off, Kota could be one of the Fulcrums before Ahsoka takes over fully, I wonder what's Kota's opinions on the Clones and such, how he reacts to some of the Clone traitors like Slick and all, how he react to the Umbaran incident with a certain four armed Jedi, opinion on one of Anakin's clones killing a Jedi mid battle that caused Fives to go rogue and finding about the chips and all, also react to all the events the the episodes and meeting the Bad Batch, also some clones not following order 66 and the whole chip thing, so yeah

@@kaimagnus5760 Yeah, I think make Starkiller a Sith Assassin or keep him as Vader's secret apprentice, also he should be above the ranks of the Inquisitors, like if the Inquisitors fail, they'll send Starkiller out to finish the job, also the Shadow guards be Canon as well as Shadow Troopers while both be assisted by Death Troopers from Rogue One, Shadow Troopers are their own class compare to the regular Storm Troopers, also Royal Commandos and Shadow Royal Commandos, as well as include some familiar faces in the Royal Guard ranks as well and other variants of the Royal guards and Shadow Troopers, so yeah

The Kaminoans healed Falon Grey, but they also took a sample of his DNA and created two clones of him- X1 and X2. Kota later found X2 on Dantooine living the life of farmer. He had thought that he sensed his former padawan’s presence. Unbeknownst to Kota, Grey had died years earlier. He was killed by X1! When he found out that X2 was merely a clone he was disappointed. He then lambasted X2 for “tending the land” while the galaxy suffered. X2 agreed to join him in the Rebel Alliance.

Realistically Rahm Kota had something very valuable most Jedi did not at the outbreak of the Clone Wars, actual military experience. I think that's why he made a better officer and tactician than most other Jedi. Coming into the Order he already had eight years of fighting experience, and probably one or two years of experience as a combat leader. Many people forget that while there were a few exceptions, the vast majority of the Jedi Order had no experience or training as military officers. They were a peacekeeping force. That's not the sa.e thing as a military.
